Beautiful site - really peaceful & pretty with stunning walks around a large lake + cafe + children's playground only a minute's walk away.
Also Waterton Park Golf Club is only 5 minutes away if you are a golfer like me.
No shower block but spotlessly clean portaloos cleaned twice daily.
The owners could not have done more for us.
Highly recommended !

1st of all don't be put off by the portaloos, they are spotless and are cleaned every morning. The weather was shocking, more like a monsoon but this didn't stop us. The ground was rather drenched but we pitched anyway. I spotted some wood pallets near the owners cabin. I went over and asked if we could use them? no problem was the answer. The owner helped carry them over for us to use. The owners were fantastic. The site was great for £12 a night. A big thanks to they owners. That's why wer going back in next couple of weeks 10 out of 10 for me!

We recently had a 2 night stay at this site. The owners were very helpful, in fact nothing seems too much trouble for them.
The site is nicely laid out, easy access, all set in a lovely quiet location.
The area is great for walkers, anglers and sailing.
Near by facilities include Waterton Park/Golf club plus
Nostell Priory.
Would definitely go again and recommend to all.
We didn't have any children with us hence no comment, but there were plenty on site and they all looked to be enjoying themselves.

We have just 'upgraded' to a caravan, rather than a tent and decided to take the old unit out on it's maiden voyage. We stayed for one night only and found the site quiet and clean. The owners were incredibly helpful, offering to help pitch the caravan by hand if necessary. Our hook up wasn't long enough so the owner lent us a longer lead. We were informed that we could leave the following day at any time which would have been useful if needed. There are some lovely walks nearby including a lakeside walk and a woodland walk, great for dog owners. There is a good children's play area nearby and whilst we had teenagers with us there were some younger children that appeared to be happily engaged in activity. A very friendly site owned by people who clearly want to make their guests very welcome.

Just returned home from this site what a gem of a site owners are fantastically helpful and cannot do enough for you. It was a little wet underfoot as we were on a grass pitch, grass did cut up a bit but it was incredibly peaceful even though we were pitched adjacent to the road. The owners are doing a sterling job in setting up and running this site. Development at the moment has been halted because of planning permissions from Wakefield council which have not been totally resolved, When this is approved the site will be very popular due to its location and local facilities which are outstanding.

Just spent a great weekend at Wintersett Lakes, the owners were very friendly and helpful. We booked this weekend as it was a Halloween/Bonfire party weekend and we were not disappointed.
The site is very close to Anglers Country Park which has fantastic views of the lake and surrounding countryside, there is a walk around the lake which eventually leads back to the Visitors Centre. There is a small cafe which provides hot drinks and a good variety of food, the staff were very pleasant and in the Visitors Centre itself the staff were very helpful with the children. There was equipment for drawing, colouring and making Halloween decorations. Well worth a visit.
Back to the site, the pitches were fairly level and well drained. There are a few hard standing pitches, all are spacious. There isn't a shower block but it wasn't a problem as we knew that before we booked. On the Saturday the owner arranged for face painting for the kids so that they were in character for the Nights events. The party took place in the nearby Anglers Retreat, there were pie and peas plus hot dogs for the kids who then received goodie bags. It was all finished off with a bonfire and great fire work display, the weather did it's best to spoil things but failed. All in all a brilliant weekend on a great little site. We'll definitely be returning, in fact my Grandaughter wants us to book for next Halloween.

Wonderful site, our first time at this site and can say we were not disappointed. The site has nice flat pitches, which we were grateful for as in a tent. The portaloos were very clean and fresh, they smelt just as clean and fresh at the end of the weekend as they did at the start when they had just been emptied. The owners were very nice and friendly, very welcoming and didn't rush us to pack up, saying we could leave when ready. The surroundings are beautiful, the lake a short 5 min walk away was a godsend for our black lab to cool off in due to the 30c weather. A short 10 min walk around the lake there is a visitors centre which offers a cafe, activities for children (like drawing) in addition to the outdoor playground which our 4 yr old loved. All in all a great weekend, great value at £12 a night (with electric hook-up) great people, great owners and will definitely will be visiting again. Cant wait to see how the site improves and matures.

This was out first visit to a campsite with our new touring caravan and it could not be better, very friendly owners who will go out of their way to help anyone staying on the site. The Anglers Retreat pub is just a short walk away and serve a good selection of beers. Due to being in a touring caravan, we did not use the portaloos which are provided for tents further sown the field. A short walk through the woodland walk to the lake and the views are stunning! we will definitely return.

Amazing This site is a gem, surrounded by beautiful lakes and countryside. Owners so friendly and helpful, make your stay so welcoming, nothing too much trouble. Saturday morning a cooked breakfast was made on site for all campers, free of charge by one of the caravanners, which was superb. (what more could you ask for). The site was full, a caravan rally in the bottom field but was still tranquil and relaxing, (heaven). Porta loos for campers but did not use with having our own facilities, so cannot comment on them, but owners always going down and cleaning them. Local pub selling hand pump beers, only a short walk away, had a hog roast themed night on Friday which was great for all the family, plenty of games and fun for every one. Shops close by, asda about 3 mile, Wakefield town centre within easy reach. Already booked again and can see us using this site time and time again, and can only see this site getting better as it matures. So a big thank you to the owner and his better half for a wonderful stay. See you soon

Great little site, friendly, quiet, good size pitches set in lovely farmland area.
As its the first year there is no amenity block, just three portaloos which were clean when we were there.
It is within walking distance of a lake which has been classed as a wild life reserve, it has bird watching hides, flat woodland/lakeside walks a cafe (allday breakfasts), a welcome/info centre with craft things for kids to do, a kiddies safe play area. The lake area is great for a picnic.
Another nearby lake has fishing, permits £4 from the nearby village shop (Nisa).
The local pub has Old Speckled Hen on tap plus others.
Probably suits caravanners with own shower/toilet more, we did 2 days in our campervan so were a bit ripe on the way home but for £10 a night (£12 with hook up) its a real bargain due to the surrounding area.
Going again soon.
