This is one of the smartest sites we have ever visited (and we have visited a lot!). It's gently sloping but all the pitches are flat or almost, and are very generously sized, well gravelled, and surrounded by lawn. The showers are fabulous, with underfloor heating and local radio on the sound system. There's a great children's area and new for 2012, a Nature Tunnel around the edge of the site. A great site, we have stayed a few times now and would definitely return.

A fantastic site, very friendly and helpful staff, they helped us get our caravan in the perfect place and because we had 3 kids we were next to the play area which the kids loved, also there is a large field where the kids can play football and even do archery.
They do hot baguettes in the morning and evening food if ordered although we didn't have any in the evening.
They have a cabin full of information from places to visit to the best pubs and restaurants, takeaways, walks, and nature trails.
Very peaceful and tranquil on site it is very relaxing.
The toilet blocks were spotless and there is a family room as well and the showers were hot whenever you went.
There is a small room where there is a washer and dryer reasonably priced, also there is a computer in there so you can use the internet at a small price although it is quite slow.
It is only 11 miles to looe which has a beautiful harbour, ideal for crabbing for the kids, we went to the Hidden Valley, Healeys cyder farm, House of marbles, Charlestown where there's a maritime museum, Plymouth and other places so there is plenty to do.
There is also a chemical disposal room, and an undercover dish washing area and they are very keen on recycling which is a good point as well.
Would recommend to anyone to visit this campsite it is fantastic.

This site was booked at the last minute and on very short notice but I had a good feeling even from the phone call whilst booking.
The staff were all very friendly and helpful
The facilities were excellent and the children's play area was brilliant especially being central to the park allowing us to see our daughter at all times.
A very safe and friendly site which I would recommend to anyone (with or without children)
Only downside would be getting out on to the main road at the end of the lane - but then you cant have it all can you !

We have recently had a wonderful stay at Dolbeare Camping and Caravan Site. The site owners Chris and Ian were very welcoming, friendly and helpful. We found it a very peaceful place to stay. The site is kept immaculate.
The shower/toilet area is excellent with family bathrooms which is lovely for people with young children. These are immaculately looked after. The whole site is very well maintained. Laundry and WiFi available too. Lovely children's play area.
Excellent size pitches - we stayed on a hard stand with electric hook up. It is situated in a very convenient area to get about especially the stunning Rame Peninsula - do not miss Cawsand and Kingsand if you are fortunate to visit this First Class site.
Ian and Chris and their staff truly do deserve all the certificates that they have been awarded. They believe in recycling as much as possible and also composting.
The information room - well you could spend all day in it - it is so informative. We truly enjoyed every minute of our stay. PS - just to let you know the freshly baked crusty bread is to die for. Will certainly be re-visiting in the not too distant future.

This was our first camping holiday for over 20 years and we couldn't have chosen a better site.
We choose it because of its location and the great reviews on its website. Great website with lots of ideas. Really liked the timings as we could make one journey to an area instead of two. Booked on website which was fairly straightforward.
A very warm and friendly welcome on arrival, shown to our pitch in the paddock, which seemed large to us. They seemed quite keen that we pitched correctly with cars between tents.
We had electric, but could freeze our ice blocks in the freezer which was free.
Small shop on site selling essentials including some excellent local cider. Shame they don't sell OS maps. The owners and staff couldn't have been more helpful giving us ideas of where to go and what to see. They did lend us an OS map so we could explore the Rame area on our bikes. We had never heard of this area which is a real hidden gem - not busy at all even in peak summer.
The shower block was excellent - they never used to be like that! Underfloor heating, roomy shower cubicles and the shower controls were great because I could have a cooler shower after a hot cycle ride. Another shower would have been good in the gents, but saying that I only waited once and I did use the family disabled room next door if it was free. My wife said that another shower in the Ladies would be good too but she also used the family room when it was free. The washing up area was good with plenty of sinks.
Barbecues are allowed adn bricks available to use.
The Info shed was informative, the leaflets all displayed in time/distance which was great, we did all the walks recommended and we had an enjoyable lunch at the Notter next to the river before walking up the hill.
The cafe at Seaton on the beach was good, a great place to escape the rain. Favourite beach has to be Whitsnad Bay. Loved the Camel Trail but very busy between Wadebridge and Padstow. The Plym Trail at Plymouth was much less busy and an excellent cycle ride through the forest.
We had a great holiday at this peaceful and friendly site. Lots to see and do nearby.
Would definitely recommend and will definitely be back.

I have just returned from Dolbeare Park having spent 9 nights there (we originally booked 10) with my wife and ten year old son in a large tent with EHU. We stayed from Sat 30th July - Mon 8th August 2011.
Prior to visiting this campsite we did extensive research on where to spend our summer camping trip. We wanted to visit Cornwall which is approximately 400 miles from our home in Sunderland so we wanted to be as sure as we could be that we chose a good campsite.
We read many positive and enthusiastic reviews which indicated that this site ticked all the right boxes for us - friendly, clean, modern award winning facilities, good location and peaceful - a key fact stressed on the Dolbear Park web site.
On our arrival we were received a warm and friendly welcome and shown to our pitch (No 64 in the north east corner of the 'Paddock'). All the facilities were explained and their location pointed out to us. All the pitches were well spaced and we had ample room for our tent with porch and car.
The sites facilities were as described and very impressive. The toilet and shower facilities were spotlessly clean and to a very high standard. There is a small shop with limited opening times, washing machine /dryer and internet access.
We had arrived at 11am and started to set up. The sun was shinning and the site looked to be everything we had expected and more. It was during our setting up that we got the first indication of what would become for us a major irritation and annoyance - the sound of many dogs barking for some time. At first I thought it must be the local hunt passing nearby!
It was during the night at about 4 - 5 am that the barking had maximum impact. When we investigated further the next morning we discovered that there was a dog kennel and cattery located nearby.
The noise was not an issue over in the caravan area where the toilets, showers and washing facilities were located as it was further from the source and protected by an additional line of trees.
For anyone staying in a caravan or camper this site is perfect as they have the added sound insulation as well as being located further away from the kennels.
For those people camping in tents there are a two other issues apart from the noise that if addressed would improve the experience dramatically. A toilet and shower block located in the 'Paddock' and/or creating a pathway of some kind in the paddock so that your feet and shoes did not get soaked in the long wet grass, when visiting the toilet/shower during the night or first thing in the morning.
It is not my intention to be totally negative about Dolbeare as it is a beautiful site, well run and maintained with great facilities for those in caravans or campers. When paying £25 per night for a tent pitch with EHU, I did expect more and to be able to sleep.
We left Dolbeare Park a night early
On reading the reviews again on my return it appears that many of them are from people who have stayed in caravans or campervans not tents. I think it is important that people who travel as far as we did to stay in a tent have all the facts. There is no mention of the barking dogs in the reviews which I find very strange.
Were it not for the kennels and the interrupted sleep this would have been the perfect campsite for us.

On arrival for a ten night stay at Dolbeare park, we were shown to our pitch in the Paddock field by a member of staff, she explained everything about the site to my wife and I and left us to it.
The pitch, in my opinion could have been a little larger even though on the web page it does state size, in reality I had to park the car alongside the tent because of regulations therefore unable to position my tent the way I would have liked, but apart from that it was fine.
I would have liked the grass a bit shorter, because going to the toilet in the morning resulted in everyone getting back to the tent with wet trainers. We bought flip flops so we only had to dry our feet!.
The Caravan field was nice, hardstanding for each caravan very clean and well maintained, small park in there also, that the kids seemed to enjoy. The toilet and shower block are very modern and clean with plenty of room in the shower cubical to have a shower without getting your clothes wet!. Small well stocked shop that also serves a latte, that I would recommend. The position of campsite was ideal for visits around Cornwall.
Would I visit campsite again. If I had a caravan yes. In a tent. I don't think so. What is not mentioned on website or reviews is the local dog kennels that is positioned a few fields behind the paddock camping field. At four to five o'clock in morning the dogs start barking, not really what we want to hear!

Stayed 3 nights at the end of October - good hardstandings and well spaced pitches - facilities were all very clean and tidy - we were made very welcome by all and enjoyed our short stay at this peaceful site. Children's play area was great and a bit different from the norm with giant chess and connect 4 - no kite flying though because of power lines crossing the site. WiFi connection was a bit difficult but acceptable considering we were at the very far end of the site away from reception. Easy driving access to the site from the A38 means that we will use again when we next visit Plymouth - allow for traffic at peak times plus the £1.50 to cross (heading east) the Tamar Bridge or £3 with caravan.

Stayed at this campsite and must say this was exceptional. It was exceptionally clean and always tidy and the toilet/shower block was state of the art showers and heated too !
Only downside was children couldn't ride their bikes due to the gravel (for safety reasons). There was a small park for children, which helped boredom blues due to no bikes etc. Very nice site set in beautiful surroundings.
Very good information shed on site giving detailed walks around area and local wildlife around, another plus point with tiny children to pass the time during the day. Close to large supermarkets (10 min drive) should you have the need to explore outside.

We have just returned from a 3 night stay at Dolbeare Park.
On arrival we gave a £10 deposit for the barrier card, which you get back on departure. We were given a list of do's and don't's which were pretty standard. Shown to our pitch and advised where to park the car and where to pitch the tent.
We were put on the grassy area by the play area which was great so our 2 year old could go and play and we could stay by the tent and watch. This wasn't EHU. There was electric hook up the other side of the drive.
There was a fridge and freezer store available in the paddock which is a field for tents. As far as I could see, every caravan was put on hardstanding.
The shower block was near the play area too. There was a couple of showers in each, the site was fairly busy but we never had to queue. There is also 2 family rooms which has a toilet, shower and sink in the one room. The whole block has underfloor heating and were kept well clean.
The shop was fairly small and you could order bacon baguettes and evening takeaway, but we didn't use this.
There is a information room containing all leaflets of pretty much every tourist attraction in the area.
Its located about 3/4 mile off the A38, about 6 miles or so from the Tamar Bridge. You get over the bridge for free, but when heading back over its £1.50 per car.
All in all, a lovely relaxing break, as far as it can be with a 2 year old in tow!
