I found Newperran online after searching through loads of campsites that were already full because we decided on a weekend away at the last minute, Newperran was the only one with pitches left. I'm so glad we found it - what a fab site
£77 for 3 nights
Nice clearly marked driveway, leading to an electronic numberplate recognition system entrance barriers.
We were met by a very pleasant lady on reception who gave us directions and site info that we needed. The first night there was actually a fish n chip van on site - very tasty actually
We found our pitch no problems (we thought it was miles away, looks it on paper but actually not - a 2 minute walk from reception) we were put on Kea field
The pitch was huge - we were so impressed with the size of it. Very clean, tidy with newly mown lawn. It was fairly quiet when we arrived - just one tent next to us and one across the field. It got busier on the 2nd day but didn't seem crowded at all because of the size of the pitches
We had drinking water and grey water waste on the next pitch over very handy
The facilities were excellent, we used the showers/toilets and washing up area. It was all very clean and the water was lovely and hot. Some of the shower blocks have sinks in with the showers and some of the toilets have sinks in the cubicles too! Very handy for privacy when brushing your teeth!
They have an on site swimming pool but we never got round to going in it although it looked very clean and all the kids seemed to be having fun. There is also an on site cafe but we didn't use it so cant comment on that.
There is an on site pub which we went in on both nights, there was entertainment on the 2nd night although it wasn't great - an old man on an organ isnt my idea of entertainment.Having said that we were singing along after a couple of drinks and the kids (and older generation) seemed to enjoy it but this was the only little niggle I had.
I didn't have my daughter with me on this occasion but She would have loved this site - there was a fab kids play area, which is actually in the middle of one of the touring fields and there was plenty of room for the kids to run about and play.
The local area is amazing - absolutely loads to see and do, Perranporth beach is lovely and the watering hole bar on the beach is fab. Everyone you see walking around had a lifeguard hoodie on - but there are loads of printing shops around so if you want to geet yourself a printed hoodie or t shirt you wont have to go far for one
Seems to be lots to do for the kids as well - the reception on site has all the tourist info you could ever need!
There is a Morrisons 5 miles down the road and you can get everything you need there. I think the petrol price was £1.17 whilst we were there (at morrisons)
The site is lovely and quiet at night
The site is on a windy hill - although it never really bothered us too much
Our next door (tent) neighbours were miserable and basically never came out into the open as they had barricaded themselves in with gazebos lol - nothing to do with the site just thought I would moan about them hahaha
All in all, a fab site and we will definitely be going back at some point!

Miss sherry & I booked on line last minute, and was very surprised at the quality of the camp site. Nice clean clearly marked driveway, leading to electronic numberplate recognition system entrance barriers. Clearly marked signs to all areas including reception, where we met our first friendly and very pleasant face, she gave us all the site information and pitch location.
Off we went in search of it, found it nice clean tidy grassed area newly mown and pitch size clearly marked out with electric hook up if required. Once tent was pitched up we decided to check out the facilities, no disappointment there, toilet/shower blocks immaculate, looks brand new! Wwashing up block for all your utensils/plates etc was the same. clean tidy and lots of hot water.
Visited the on site pub the cottage inn for a late night pint or three, very nice atmosphere and warm welcome, crawled, I mean made our way back to our tent for a good nights sleep.
Needed an onion one night for our meal unfortunately too late for the shop so went to reception and asked Christine where I could get one from, no problems there she duly walked up stairs to ask her mom if she had one for me, just brill! I returned it on the day we left as a parting gesture' onion hire now available at no extra cost' hah! hah!.
Local amenities are very good, Perran Porth just a few minutes away, great beach with massive beach bar, local shops filled with all that you would possibly want from your stay here including Cornish pasties by the crate load.
Local petrol station reasonably priced as well £1.17 ltr.
Will definitely be going back this year as its got to be one of the best 5 star sites available in the uk. As we had just spent 3 nights at shell island and was very disappointed with the whole experience & they ran out of cold water!

A great site for camping with amazing facilities. The shower / toilets were the best we've seen by far. All the staff were extremely friendly and really helpful. Nothing is too much trouble!
The site has exceptional security without being too overbearing. Ideal location as a base for exploring Cornwall! Made to feel really welcome and would definitely stay here again.

We found this campsite at the last minute and we're very thankful that we did! We arrived early, but were allowed to pitch early as no-one else was there. It is a lovely site, apart from the fact it's on top of a very windy hill, there are a few pitches which can offer more shelter. And there are lovely views of Perranporth, which are breathtaking even when the weather is bad.
The swimming pool was lovely and clean and warm and the shop had most things you'd need.
The local amenities are closer than we originally thought, Perranporth beach is a must!
The only thing that let this site down for us, is the state of the showers and lack of them. They were cleaned once a day, if that and there just weren't enough showers in one block to cater for the surrounding campers. One morning I waited over 30 minutes for a shower as there were only 3.
The owners of this site, say they're strict and they are, but they are also very understanding and if you ever have a problem, they always try their best to sort it out.
Overall a very enjoyable site, we will be going back again.

Newperran is in a fabulous location central to many lovely areas and beaches. The site has the potential to be one of the best in Cornwall with hosts that can't do enough for you. The site is well laid out and the pitches more than generous.
There are more showers and toilets than I've seen per person than on any other site. We visited in August the site was very busy, probably 3/4 full if not more and there was no queueing. There is a nice cafe on site and a small pub.
Downsides were few and far between but two things could have been much improved. The showers, toilets and washing up areas were not cleaned often enough, infact only once a day even during August, that meant if you went in more than a couple of hours after cleaning they were often dirty and there was nothing to clean them with. The other major downside was the shop. It was far to expensive, £1.69 for a packet of ginger nuts, £1.95 for a Magnum and £1.50 for 2 pints of milk. I thought this was scandalous and really didn't encourage me to use it at all. I'm someone who does a major shop and then likes to support the site shop to supplement and it really was over priced and rarely used other than by children buying sweets.
That said I would recommend as I think several people commented on cleanliness or lack of it, so hopefully it will be addressed in future years.
The shop could be so much better with locally sourced products brought in and fresh bread.Price cuts still a must though!
A couple of lovely pubs within a couple of miles are The Smugglers and the Bowgie Inn. There are numerous attractions nearby and if you have older children Lusty Glaze beach activities in Newquay is fab.

Although a large site, it is family run so not too commercial. The pitches are very generous in size although we did have a problem with the Electric hook up being too far away. All pitches are around the edge of the fields, therefore leaving plenty of safe area for children and adults alike to play. We travelled down on the Friday night to miss busy weekend traffic arriving at 1.00am to set up on the holding field for the night, great idea. The toilet / shower blocks are probably the best I have witnessed although some of them had the ratio of toilets to showers completely wrong which created queues for the showers at busy times. The brand new pool is great for the kids but is a little cold. The main negatives are the laundrette is way over priced and the main field with the large play area on got very littered with rubbish. I think this was mainly caused by older children congregating their after dark. Although there was never any trouble, they were also quite noisy and I for one would not want to be on that field. The pub was quite nice although we only visited once. The shop is adequate but one of the members of staff was quite miserable and seemed to be very anti-children. Probably needs to learn that is the children that spend most of the money in these places. The site is in a great location, ideal for Newquay, Perranporth and the whole of south Cornwall. Crantock beach is not too far away and is gorgeous.

Great site with fantastic views and ideally located for the surrounding area. Not in Newquay itself, nearest beach Perranpoint. Staff on site cannot do enough to help. Club with entertainment, pool and good size play park. Limited shop on site for that one thing you forget. Morrisons 5 mile up the road. Cafe has limited menu but food was good and long opening hours. You can pick you pitch when booking by looking on website. Showers good and hot no payment req'd. Ablution areas cleaned at least twice a day. Would definitely visit again and recommend to others. Only issue on site was other users cleaning up after themselves.

We have just had 9 days on the site. The site was very busy but we had a premium pitch very close to the pool and shop and so it was very quite for us and we had no complaints. It was noisy around the central field as the children’s play area is in the centre – if you have younger children then these pinches are ideal for you as the kids were out there in the dark until 10.30 ish
Showers and toilets very good and clean with separate dressing area within the shower, although they could benefit from a mop & bucket being left there due to the amount of grass coming on from all the fields. Take your flip flops!
We were only disappointed by the lack of entertainment, as we have 3 teenagers we booked this site for the entertainment - this being August we expected their to be entertainment each evening in the pub but this was only on Mon, Tue and Wed. The pub opened at 7pm until 10.50 and was not large enough for the full site as the camping people came in understandably so to get out of the rain! We only went in once had one drink and left.
The laundry was expensive at £5 a load (including soap/conditioner) and the Dryers £1 for 10 mins – it was running me a bill of £7 a load to get wash dry
We had dogs and whilst there is facility for a dog walks this is only a passage bordered by hedges alongside the fields. You could not really let the dog off the lead as other dogs would be coming along the path. There was only fouling bins provided by the walk area and not around the site so be prepared to carry back to your pitch. My view is if you are charged £2.50 per night per dog which cost me £45 then I expect some service for this.
The bins were stationed at the entrance to the park where you had to deposit all your rubbish, but there was no bins around the park – most people were not recycling as you could not keep all separate bins in your caravan etc top do this – perhaps it would have been better to have recycling points in centrally on the site to help with this.
Overall I would consider going back as the facilities are good but there are other sites in the area of an equally higher standard with the premium pitches and the additional family activities/entertainment.

Well, just got back from 2 superb weeks at this site. All I can say is excellent!
The site is constantly clean and well looked after. We arrived very early, (6 hours before we were supposed to be allowed on site), so we went onto the holding field. We went to book in and they told us that if the pitch was free, we could go straight on! We had set up a couple of hours later and were having our lunch at the time when we should have been just starting.
Pros
Shower/toilet blocks were the best we've seen
Plenty of hot water, only queued for the shower once in 2 weeks and they were spotless
Shop - well stocked and friendly service, (but don't ask for a carrier bag as you also get a free lecture)
Cafe - nice food, good value, great 'specials nights'. We had takeaways from there mostly and found the food spot on.
Pool and area - very clean, never too full, again, spot on.
Pitches - the best we've ever had, large and spacious and well looked after.
Security - excellent. Very discrete but effective
Cons (because I have to)
Pool - Cold (but its an outside one, what did I expect? I told you, I'm only putting cons down because I have to.)
Speed bumps - quite high on the entrance drive, took a couple of my mudflaps off but hey-ho, rather that than people haring up the drive
Absolutely no more cons, I struggled to think of those.
Oh, one minor complaint was that we got charged for an extra meal at the cafe, we asked for a specific meal but they had none left so we had something else and charged us for both. I went outside and my daughter paid, not knowing about the mix up but they had charged us full price and once we'd left the premises to take it back to our tent. Ah well, I should have checked at the time as 'mistakes cannot be rectified afterwards etc etc'
As I said, this was a minor thing on the first occassion that we used the cafe and it was never repeated throughout the fortnight.
On the whole, one of the best, if not the best, sites we have ever been on, definitely being run by the nicest site owners ever, nothing was too much trouble and their care shows throughout the site.
Will I go again? Try and stop me!

Got on site early and pitch was ready so we were able to pitch 2hours before booking in time. The site had good drainage as we had 2 days solid rain and only a couple of small puddles on sides of roadway. The pool was good and plenty of sun lounges. We only went to the pub one night but the entertainent was good, only one thing get there early. The shop had basic items and had a few camping and caravaning accs. The cafe only had few items on menu but the food was good. The toilet and shower blocks were OK but maybe needed a couple more showers, got slightly muddy with the heavy rain. Nice size play area for smaller children. First time we have visited this site and would go back there again.
