The pool was clean, but ice cold and few people braved it. There were no bins on the complex, we had to leave the park and walk down a lane at the exit to deposit rubbish. The bins were overflowing with rubbish and we had to dodge the angry wasps. The wasps were all over the field and we couldn't sit outside and BBQ, or even just have a cup of tea in the fresh air.
There is only one chemical toilet emptying point which was a walk through 2 fields. There is also no area for motorhomes to empty grey water straight from the van. You need a wastemaster.
On a positive note the security was good with barriers in place

Back again for our third year! and what a stay, with blisteringly hot days it just made the site more perfect than it already is, Keith and Christine are fantastic hosts and treat their guests like old friends,I belong to an organisation who book the whole site for a week in mid season for its members thus we have the run of the place to ourselves, usually numbering 250 - 300 people, all the amenities are fully open and Christine always organises entertainment for each evening in the bar, and amazingly enough seems to remember almost everyones names from year to year!
Nothing is too much trouble for them and they are so laid back yet maintain an excellent site with spotless modern amenities throughout,(free hot showers etc), many of the pitches having water, electric and drainage included.
The site is well located, with sea views from some of the fields, spacious pitches, a couple of play areas for the children, shop, bar, cafe, lovely pool area, and close to many nice towns, villages and beaches, plus within driving distance of many of Cornwalls main attractions.
You would be hard pressed to find a nicer, cleaner, better laid out place than Newperran, with wonderful hosts and a lovely atmosphere throughout.
I guess the only downside, and its not really a problem, is that the site is quite high and exposed to the breeze, but there are plenty of high field hedges to camp behind which shelter one perfectly and can be pre booked before your stay.

Stayed 2nd week in September. Although we were aware that the pub on site was going to be closed, we did not know that everything else, with the exception of the expensive laundrette, would be closed or only open for an hour a day.
Its a lovely site within view of the sea. Which does mean its a bit windy at times. Its an ideal location to newquay etc and the security on site is excellent. It was a bit difficult only having showers with our 16 month old daughter but we managed. Everything was clean and tidy. The pool looked great but we didn't try it.
In all, a really nice place but it was too quite when we stayed. I imagine in peak season its great.

When I phoned to book a pitch for our holiday in July I was surprised that New Perran had lots of spaces left as others that I phoned were fully booked, Christine was very helpful on the phone and told me to go on the website to choose a pitch. The web site is very good with lots of info. When we arrived it was very early so we booked in, found our pitch and decided we didn't like where we had chosen but a very laid back Christine just told us to pick another and let her know where we were.
The site was very clean all the time we were there which we found amazing as it rained almost every day.
Despite the weather we used the pool a few times which was very very cold. The on site shop sold a bit of everything you might need, we also used the laundrette which was very expensive.
We didnt use the cafe during our stay but we did use the pub which was not over priced as I had expected.
The site is located very close to Perranporth, Newquay, St Agnus, The cider farm and lots more.
All in all we very much enjoyed our stay and will be returning next year the staff are all very hard working and friendly. 10 out of 10

We never pre-booked this site, but were lucky to have a pitch available. We stayed 2 nights on the field next to the playpark & booked a further 2 night on bude field.
The owners were very nice & made us feel welcome. The shop is adequate for bits & pieces, but never stocked potatoes! The onsite cafe did amazing breakfasts which set us up nicely for the day. We went to the pub on the friday night to see the 60s group, it was very busy & we were lucky to get a seat. It was the opposite though on the Saturday night, it was really quiet.
The toilets were fine, but there may be a problem with the toilets blocking. There are plenty of toilet blocks, so none of them get really busy.
The kids were in the swimming pool on one of the rare sunny days. There is an area to sit in for us less adventurous.
The playpark was great with loads of space for the kids to run about, our 2 organised a game of rounders which they said was great fun. The only gripe was the security guard told them they were to get off the park at 9 o'clock (for health & safety reasons apparently) I asked him to be a bit more lenient as it was still light. I think he went & spoke to the owners who let the kids have another hours playtime.
But, later on when the older kids were hanging about the park & toilets making a noise the security guard was nowhere to be seen.
Newperran is a great site with loads to offer & is a good central spot for exploring Cornwall. Visit the Cyder Farm about 15 mins drive, it's great & you get to sample the cider. Also a visit to Perranporth is essential the beach is amazing & there are some lovely shops. Newquay too is great, we love to sit & people watch & see all the camper vans. A visit to the hoody top shop is a must your kids will be the envy of all their friends with there lifeguard tops.
For food, we visited a lovely pub at Holywell Bay where we stayed last year. I forget the name but it's the pub with the thatched roof.

Just back from 7 nights at this site in a tent .
Good points -- Pitch was pre booked and you can pick your pitch online with the site map , Pitches are big and most have EHU included in the price. Toilets where clean and showers where free and warm,Never had to queue for either . On site shop was well stocked and reasonably priced. Access gate has car reg recognition to prevent anyone just driving on and all the site has cctv even the bin area which is situated just outside main entrance. Onsite cafe is open from 9am till . The site is 5 mins from Perranporth and 10 mins fron Newquay , all in all it was great will deffo be going again but for 2 weeks next time
Bad point- Heated pool should be advertised as just defrosted , the sea at Perranporth is warmer ! And the rain only stopped for one day but can't blame the site for that :-)

Back again for the umpteenth time, so I guess you could say we like this site, Keith & Christine are top class hosts. We always go before the site gets full at the end of July. This means we missed out on the entertainment this year. All the toilets are now refurbed and there is a brand new pool although they could still turn the heating up a bit!
The area is great for family holidays as previous reviews have said but Chapel Porth beach and its little cafe take some beating

Well just got back from 19 days of bliss, we were only stopping two weeks but managed a few extra to finish off a brilliant stay for the 2nd time at this site, virtually all the pitches have hook up and some are super pitches, the better fields in my view are Bude, Hayle, Gerrans and Jackobstow all are spacious and offer good views the majority of the toilet blocks have now been modernized and really look the business. Thankfully due to some nice weather the pool was a little more inviting this year and I am told it is being overhauled for next year. I cannot recommend this site enough, it is quiet and well positioned for its size, the owners are firm with their rules but it is a family site and they like it that way, the pitch sizes are enormous we looked round a few other sites in the area and none can touch Newperran, it is not a full on in your face camp site if you want that Trevornick or Perran sands is for you, but for a good relaxing family holiday you cant do much better than here. Booked for 2008 only 11 month to go. Lots of places and beaches to visit, nearby, Crantock Hollywell bay and Perranporth beaches are all fine, but coves are there to be discovered,

Just returned from a two week holiday at Newperran. The location was good especially for visiting Newquay, Perranporth has a nice beach as well. We had a few problems with the site: The swimming pool was really cold and dirty it didn't seem heated at all, which was dissapointing for our children. The showers although modern got very dirty, quickly after being cleaned. It would have been useful to put in a mop and bucket for people to use. Also there were no family bathing facilities only showers, so this was difficult with small children. The water often stopped completeley at busy times in both showers and sinks. Use of the washing machines was £5.00 (which included the detergent) for a standard size machine, however I was not prepared to pay that much. The launderette in Perranporth charges £3.60 including detergent and they are larger machines. We tried the on site cafe once but the chips we had were hard so we didn't bother again.

Spent a lovely hot sunny week at Newperran. Overall a good site with nice big flat pitches. Good points- Children's play area, lots of space for the children to run around in the camping fields. Showers were very clean and plenty of hot water. The club was good, Eddison Lighthouse were on one night which was the best night of the week. The swimming pool was basic and not too warm but as the weather was hot this was no problem. Not so good points- club was expensive, lager around three pound a pint, games room was full of machines with no real room to play pool in. Nothing arranged for the children, a few games on the field would have been good. The shop was very poor, selling only a few trinkets and very basic food items, it was a good size and could have been a lot better stocked this would have been very helpful as it is a few miles drive to the nearest supermarket. As the tarrif is at the higher end of the market I would have expected a little more for the children as the club is not child friendly and although the kids are allowed in it is not aimed at them only adults. As with many campsites dogs were allowed, but were allowed to roam free around the site. The location is the best thing about the site as it is within easy reach of Newquay and Peranporth.
