We used this for a 1 night stopover on route to France. It was very easy to find and very convenient for the Tunnel (10-15 mins away). We didn't arrive until 10pm in torrential rain so we just pulled up on an empty pitch and bedded down for the night. We left at 7.30am so we didn't use any of the facilities on-site but it was very convenient for a crossing stopover although they did charge £27 full rate so I think maybe introducing a cheaper stopover rate would be fairer. We arrived in such appalling weather the sea mist had come down making the journey from the main road very very dangerous as we could not see in front of us and it goes into a single track road, we were told the next day that there have been accidents on that road due to lorries etc not being able to see the oncoming cars so please check and get directions from the campsite and they will advise you of the best route to take into the site. All in all a very convenient stopover site.

1st time campers (family of 4 - 2 adults/2 teens), just returned from great 2 night stay at Little Satmar. Lovely site, clean and well kept. Toilets/showers were clean with plenty of hot water. Owners were very friendly and extremely helpful.
We visited Dover Castle and the Mermaid Bay - by the Leas in Folkestone which was lovely for walking.
There's a retail park a few miles from site with a Sainsburys/McDonalds and a Beefeater in nearby Church Hougham. Also, we found a good, eat-in fish and chip shop at Folkestone harbour.
Would definitely recommend this site - very good value and such a warm welcome and great atmosphere.

We have used this Park several times as a night halt before catching our ferry at Dover. In 2010 we used the site as a 'day halt' after we traffic delays meant that we did not arrive, as planned, in the evening but the following morning after an unplanned night halt at motorway services.
The site is quite close to the M20 and accessed through quiet, mainly rural, roads. The site is surrounded by fields and I did not see any shops, etc in the immediate area. It is, however, an easy drive to the shops, etc of Folkestone.
The touring area and its reception are accessed through the static caravan park. The access is good.
The staff have always been extremely pleasant and helpful. One staff member helped us when we had a problem with a new awning.
In addition to individual pitches they have a large grassed pitching area large enough for several 'vans and where it is possible to stay hitched-up. We used this area and after I had popped out to Tesco Folkestone to fill up with diesel we hitched-up ready for a quick exit.
The toilets, etc are clean and adequate. I think there is a children's playground but we're a bit old for that so I can't comment!
It is an easy drive of c30 minutes to the Norfolk Line ferry terminal in Dover. The fact that the site has no entrance gate or barrier mean that it is possible to leave the site for early morning departures without any problems
I would recommend Little Satmar as a very adequate night halt or possibly for longer stays to enjoy the wider area.

We really enjoyed our stay on this campsite. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The site was immaculately kept, although the toilet / shower facilities were quite dated, it was all very clean.
I would recommend this site, it is also extremely close to Dover.
We did notice a distant road noise, but it really didn't cause us any problems.

We had a 5 day break at Little Satmar over the bank holiday weekend. Despite the weather being a bit unkind, we still had a great time. This really is a great site and I would highly recommend a stay here. The staff are fantastic, very friendly and helpful. The site is spotless with level grass pitches and electric hook ups.
The toilets and showers were very clean and well maintained. There is a small shop for your basic items and a playground for the kids although this could do with a few more play things. It was busy over the bank holiday but we never felt crowded and the atmosphere was lovely. This is how a campsite should be.
Folkestone is a short drive away and I can highly recommend the coastal park which is down by the harbour. Shops are plentiful nearby with a big Sainsburys 3 miles away. We will definitely be going back.

Just got back from long weekend here. I would like to mention how friendly and helpful the staff were, nothing was too much for them. There were two sets of toilet blocks, one of which also had 3 shower cubicles, the other was next to washing up / beg prep area. Both were very clean and not to busy despite the site being full.
Things to note:
Because it was very busy, we thought some of the pitches were a bit crammed and close to next tent.
There is no 'free play' area for the kids when busy but there was a small park with swings and basketball hoop.
All in all a lovely site for stopping over or if visiting nearby Folkestone Dover or Canterbury or if passing through on way to the ferry.

What a lovely site, nice and small and the owners are friendly and helpful.
The sites facilities are good, there are one female and one male shower block, both blocks hold three showers and four toilets. They were clean and tidy, the water was warm, you do have to keep pressing the button for adequate water but it's not a problem, good washing up area and rubbish area, always clean.
It is a small site of about 45 pitches. I don't know how busy it would get in the height of season but pitches are generous and all on grass.
Short drive to Folkestone Dover Canterbury ideal for a stop over for catching the ferry.
Definitely go back again and for longer this time.

The good bits first! Top, first class welcome from the managers, really very kind and friendly and were very welcoming to our boys and dog.
The pitches we were given for our trailer tent, large dome tent and tiny 2 man! was 20 metres which was fantastic. There are picnic tables scattered around the site and we were early enough to nab one which was lovely for outdoor dining (in the fog!).
The washrooms in the touring field were clean, and with good supply of hot water. There could really have been some windows to let fresh air in, and not so fresh out
The washing up area was spotless and everyone made sure they cleaned up after themselves, the water wasn't really hot enough for long enough though.
The downside as we found it was the lack of space for the children to play. As it was bank holiday, it was chocca busy - to be expected. The play area was tiny with just two items in it and there was nowhere to kick a ball or throw a frisbee. Also, in order to let the woofy have an early morning pee, we had to take him off site as there wasn't any spaces for a sniff or relief.
Space between pitches was tight and we found it a bit tricky parking the cars for the extended family, as the car park was also full.
The positives outweigh the negatives though and we were glad to be away together and because of the warm welcome etc. We were glad to have chosen little Satmar
As the weather was so rotten, we took ourselves off to Folkestone swimming baths. It was quite old and dated, but perfectly clean and a great way to spend a few 'wet' hours!

Have used this site a couple of times now for short weekend breaks. Friendly, helpful staff and nice clean facilities make for a pleasant break.
The pitches are level and well maintained although cars do have to be left in the car park after unloading. There's lots to do in the area although a car is necessary to make the most of things as not much is within easy walking distance.
The nearby cliff top cafe is great if you don't fancy cooking breakfast and the views from here are stunning. Can become a bit cosy at weekends as there are not that many pitches for tents.

A very pleasant surprise! was trying to book a nearby site at short notice after weather conditions closed our initial choice, mis-dialed getting this one. They were fully booked but said if we came late bank holiday monday they could get us in.
We arrived monday afternoon and was made to feel very welcome, we were escorted to our pitch and given two pitches for the price of one due to the adverse weather conditions allowing us to pitch closer to the road and keep the car as near as poss to the caravan door.
The weather conditions were very poor so the site wardens were creating pathways from bark chippings from the roadway to your caravan door. The toilet facilities a little basic with the main shower block away from the touring field but both always spotlessly clean and it soon became apparent that they were being cleaned very early in the morning so they were fresh for your first visit of the day.
Wash up and veg prep area very clean and well protected from the elements. Waste water, chemical toilet and refuge disposal area also clean and sanitising gel available. Children's play area basic but as there were only four units on site for most of our stay they had plenty of room to play.
Small sandy beach in nearby Folkestone but much better sandy beaches and amusements further up in st mary's bay. Car travel essential to get off site. Basic shop on site but very friendly village shop a short distance away. Some of the big sites could learn a lot from this little gem.
