Just enjoyed a lovely weekend at Little Satmar. Warm welcome from friendly owners who keep site clean and tidy. Very good toilet and shower facilities though the short-running showers can be annoying when trying to juggle a baby and soap!

Various picnic benches available on a first come first served basis, very useful.

Nice enclosed play area; swings, playhouse, climbing frame of sorts made from tyres.

It took me a while to get the hang of the hot water supply for washing up but if run slowly it's consistent.

The guys running the site were more than willing to help out and have great local knowledge whether you want a good beach, coastal walk or decent pint.

Newspapers can be ordered in each morning and ice packs re-frozen. Little shop on-site stocking essentials and there is a local store in the village.

Pretty comprehensive recycling facilities on site and waste areas kept clean and tidy.

We were visited by hedgehogs 2 nights as our tent doesn't have a sewn in ground sheet! We had been warned that food would attract them so all that was stowed away but one still decided to investigate.

Little Satmar is in a great location, very accessible by major routes. Once there it's a short coastal walk to the Battle of Britain memorial and an easy drive to beaches and town centres. Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway not far away either.

We were a little surprised at how much traffic noise there was though, due I would think to the A20 being fairly close. We'd soon screened it out.

In summary, a well maintained, good value, friendly campsite where the little extra touches set it apart in my mind. We won't hesitate to return.

This was my first camping experience, and I have to say it was great!

The staff at Little Satmar were really helpful and so warm and welcoming.

The shower block was immaculate, plenty of hot water, and plenty of space.

The only thing we had to queue for was to wash up, but everyone that camps seems to be lovely, and they all make sure that the washing facilities were left as you would expect to find them.

We were told to spread out, use another pitch to park on. We were very lucky in as much as we had plenty of room to play football and tennis.

We had a great stay here and would definitely recommend it.

A lovely well kept site. Staff very friendly and helpful. We booked at short notice for one night and were able to stay for 2. Option of paying an extra £3.50 to stay until 6pm the day you leave is also a good idea.

There are only 3 showers, but as the site isn't that big, this wasn't a problem and we didn't have to wait. The shower was quite annoying as it kept cutting off every few seconds, however, there is plenty of space for getting changed and perching your child while you take turns to shower and they were nice and clean!

The washing up area could have had warmer water and there was an unpleasant smell which was probably because the sinks were right next to the chemical waste area.

The site is well laid out and has a shop and laundry room and children's play area. It is lit just well enough at night to feel safe and you can see your way to the loo!

A good location for visiting Folkestone or Dover, with a bus stop at the end of the road if you want leave your car/camper on site. Fantastic views if you fancy the coastal walk into Folkstone - flip flops or high heels not recommended!

What a lovley site and great service! Booked last minute and managed to get a couple of tent pitches. Tent fields level and well kept. Hubby got a tour of site while I paid! Great couple who run it and eager to please. So very clean.
The toilet block was great and the shower block even better! Handy little shop and laundry room needs tokens so get before shop shuts! Sweet little park with climbing frames and swings for kids. Will definitely be going back.
Maybe a little zebra crossing to swing park? Our kids would just run across and give me a heart attack every time! If need bricks for barbie they can be provided and bins and recycling areas clean and well kept (no overflowing bins!).
Short drive to Folkestone and surrounding areas. All in all excellent! Thanks.

I don't know whether this site changed hands but I don't recognise it from some of the other reviews! This was a terrific site with very few drawbacks.

We have a little boy, 18 months old at the time of visiting. His great-grandparents live in folkestone so we needed somewhere nearby.

Facilities: Toilets were well maintained and clean. This was essential as the site's only drawback for us was nowhere suitable to bath / wash our littleun so the floor of the loo block was the only real option. We coped! As others have said the washing up facilities were unusual going from scalding to freezing very swiftly. In the end we worked out that they seemed to have an old fashioned boiler that needed to replenish.
Showers were good but you needed to keep pressing the button to get the water flowing. Also, my wife didn't like the small cubicles in the toilets and would struggle the more pregnant she got.

Site: well maintained by very friendly owners & team, one of whom has a static of their own on the site despite living in Folkestone. Shop was very reasonably priced, arguably cheaper than many corner shops.

Play area: Our son loved it, toddling off in it's direction whenever our heads were turned. Good selection of swings, playhouse etc but some maintenance of one or two of the items would be a good idea.

Cost £45 for 4 nights but it was out of season.

Overall, very good and we will definitely be staying there again, this time in a folding caravan.

This is a superb site for a nice peaceful weekend. Good flat pitches where the grass is kept short. The site is immaculately clean with a small shop for emergency items. The couple that run the site are extremely friendly and helpful.

The only drawback is the lack of shower & washing facilities (only 3 showers) the shower block was also situated quite a distance from the touring field. A small toilet block (very clean) situated on the touring field but only one washing up sink and one sink for washing vegetables! As we were there Bank Holiday there was always a queue of people waiting to wash up, although with a caravan we were not affected.

Great site - easy to find and beautifully laid out - all well mown & pretty flower beds round communal areas. Nice to have tourer section away from statics. Lots of smaller fields to give sense of privacy / not too huge a site.

Manager was extremely friendly and helpful - both on the phone when booking and in person on site.

Plenty of space for pitches (and most have electric hook up if you want it) - although it was quiet when we were there so hard to tell if it would always be quite so easy to spread out as we did (we were quite a large party - 2 tents and 1 motorhome but all pitched together).

Main shower & toilet block immaculately clean and smaller toilet and washing up block in the lower field where we pitched was also very clean and plenty adequate for our needs.

Small children's play area was great for our little ones.

Well stocked little shop on site and plenty of information about local areas and activities.

Only a few minutes drive into Folkstone where there's a little 'French' market on Sundays and a lovely sea front walk to keep the kids occupied.

Would definitely recommend this site to anyone - families and couples as plenty of room for peace or activity depending on what you're looking for.

This was a very pleasant site and all staff were very friendly and helpful. (Even provided a hacksaw so our friends could adjust their tent!) The un-serviced tent pitch area was flat but not very big so when very busy you will be close to your neighbours.
Showers and toilet blocks were clean with plenty of free hot water (at times too hot, wife had problems showering our 2 year old due to temperature). Only 2 sinks for washing up so again when very busy may have to wait. The playground was more for older kids but looked well maintained.
Small shop providing most of the essentials and Tesco 4 miles up the road as was the tunnel. Plenty to do in the local area and the Battle of Britain Memorial is walkable from the site or a five minute drive. My tip would be to arrive mid afternoon if you want a good pitch or perhaps opt for a serviced one which are all marked out.
We got a discount for staying four nights which was a bonus as it was not mentioned to us when we reserved our pitch. I would recommend this site, its a great base for visiting Kent and hopping across the Channel. Hope to go back again.

We used this site on the way to Dover as an over night stop as it is only about 15mins away. We arrived at about 6pm and were told to find a pitch and pay in the morning by a friendly man who told us were everything was situated.

This is a very nice level site, the shower block is next to the reception area and very clean. The toilet block is on the touring pitch, these were okay, with a wash up area right next to the chemical disposal point which if someone is using at the same time as your doing the dishes it is not very pleasant.

There is a small playground which was okay and a laundrette.

A very nice clean site which cost around £22 for a unit 2 adults and 3 children, I would use again if in this area.

Myself and my girlfriend stayed at this site for 2 nights and WOW! I have to say this is the best campsite I have ever had the pleasure of staying at. The staff are some of friendliest and helpful bunch of people I have ever met. On arrival we received a very warm welcome and were given a brief tour. They even gave us a roll of duck tape when I accidentally made a slight rip in one of the pole sleeves on our tent while erecting it!

The non serviced tent pitching area is very small, enclosed (with trees on one side and a slope on the other) and parts are a bit bumpy so I would imagine during high season it could get a tad cramped and uncomfortable. However during our time at the site there was only us and another tent so this was no problem.

The main toilet and shower block is just round the corner from the tent pitches and there is another toilet block available in the serviced pitch area (next to the non serviced area). Both buildings were clean and the showers were just the right temperature. There are more than enough showers and toilets for the size of the site so queueing during high season should be minimal if not non existent.

The washing up facilities are the only downfall of the site as there are only two sinks with one hot tap shared between them which pumps out boiling hot water for the first 5 seconds and then goes freezing cold. This happened every time we went to wash up.

There is a small shop on site which sells all the usual stuff like milk and bread at convenience shop prices.

There is a good sized kids play area with swings and what not which is conveniently placed (or inconveniently depending on what way you look at it) opposite the non serviced pitches. So if your not with kids and don't fancy the noise coming from the play area it may be wise to get a serviced pitch away from it all.

Folkestone town centre is a 5-10 minute drive away, The ports of Dover are just over 10 minutes away and the fabulous Port Lympne Wild Animal park is only 20 minutes away. There are also plenty of local pubs which do food in the area.

When leaving the site the staff wished us a safe and pleasant journey home. I look forward to returning.
