This is the second time we have visited this site and we will definitely be back again!
Lovely location in Porlock. Two fields to choose from and you can pitch wherever you want. Most tend to pitch around the edge so plenty of space in the middle of the second field for kids to run around.
Facilities are good. Well maintained. X2 showers, x6 toilets in female block. Wash sink in both fields. Plenty of information re local pubs/events etc.
Great location to get too Minehead/Lynmouth/Linton.
Amazing views out to the sea. Nice walk nearby to Porlock Weir.
If you go you must go to the butchers in Porlock for all breakfast/BBQ supplies. There pasty's/pies are hard to resist!
Good price at £7 per night.
Highly recommended!

Just spent ten glorious days at Sparkhayes and this year the weather was kind to us. The site has all the facilities you need. There is a drying room for clothes, an area for washing crockery. The toilet and shower block is always clean and tidy. Timing your run to the showers is important at busy times. There is plenty of information available regarding local facilities and the owner is always about if you require assistance.
The site rules are all common sense and police themselves.
There is an area sectioned off for your dogs to do there business and all this right in the centre of the georgeous village of Porlock.
The pubs are all very welcoming after a day out and about. Porlock has a little bit of everything. We have already booked for next year.

A well placed site in a lovely area.
There are two flat fields. No play parks or similar, just a multi-purpose block for laundry, washing up, showers and toilets. It's a bit ramshackle, with stuff left lying about and toilets/showers are tired. Just a trickle of hot water from the sink taps. The showers work fine but there is nowhere to dry yourself or undress/dress. Some people resort to using the toilet stalls opposite. Not nice. I washed my feet outside after my shower. On the plus side it gets cleaned up twice a day. The site rates are reasonable, but I've had much better for less money.
It's worth bearing in mind that every year the bottom field is let to local schools for the last 2 weeks of the summer term. There were 160 kids when I visited. The kids were very well behaved but put a strain on the facilities. The tannoy system in their field was a bit intrusive, and the staff a bit over protective.
The area is worth visiting. Porlock village is pretty, apart from the traffic, with a decent pub and mini supermarkets for supplies. The sea is about 400 yards from the site, along paths, a marsh and lagoon (where I nearly got cut off at high tide) leading to a breached shingle bank by the sea. No use for a beach experience but pretty and interesting. There are some lovely little villages around the area (go to Horner for tea and cakes- very good).
If you want 'the seaside' go 5 miles into Minehead, which has the lot without being tacky. It's a proper town too, with local shops and big supermarkets. You can walk there but it involves a 1000ft climb on the coast path.
Exmoor is just inland with its lonely moors, great views and secret valleys.

A lovely campsite in a great location
We stayed in the first two weeks of August, a nice quite site off the main road, on the gate was a notice saying that the owners would be round twice a day to collect pitch rent in you arrived after open hours.
And sure enough after setting up on a pitch about one hour later the man come round and asked if we were staying one night or multi night as there was a discount on block booking. We stayed there for the whole 2 weeks of our holiday as it was so nice.
The site was basic but a short walk from the village, and from the pub that did great food, a sea view, a river, hot water, clean facilities the toilets were cleaned twice a day and the showers had hot water and spotless, two clean fields and a relaxed, but had free tea making in the washing up room, so you could boil a kettle, block freezing was for a small charge
Porlock is a great base to travel out from with loads to see in the local area, and some fantastic walks.
All in all this was a great place to stay and would recommend it to anyone

We spent one night here as a base to walk the coast from Minehead to Porlock, good choice!
A lovely campsite in a superb location, two large flat fields with sea and Exmoor coastline views.
Good, clean facilities although not so keen on the shower cubicles with just a curtain but we got by.
The owner is very helpful and laid back, he made a point of telling us that we could leave whatever time we liked on our last day. We plan to stay here again.

This is a site that every camper hopes to find. Few campsites please enough to make you want to review and recommend them but this one did.
Minutes walk from the village, seconds from the pub, a sea view, a river, hot water, clean facilities, two green, clean spacious fields and a relaxed, welcoming and kind owner.
Arrived in the dark, pleasantly surprised when we woke up and ended up coming back a second night.

Excellent site, have not visited for some time due to the fact that we wanted to explore other parts of the country. Used this site for some 5 years on and off. Good location, ok loos, now a new road to access, will be back one day. Local area and pubs are great, plenty to see and do. Easy access. Site owner very helpful, always willing to give local weather forecast. Well worth a visit during porlock carnival.

Excellent campsite.
Lovely location, large open areas so pitches are not too close together. Plenty of space for games etc. Located in a small village with few pubs, shop, restaurant and an amazing butchers! If you are having a bbq, the butchers is the place to go for your food! They also do amazing pies!
Owners are very friendly. Toilets and showers are very clean. Plenty available. Rarely queued for the shower. Great value for money.
We will definitely be returning to this campsite again!

Absolutely brilliant site, arrive, choose your spot, selection of 2 fields and at £7. 00 per adult, £3. 00 per teen and £2. 00 per child, cheap as chips.
No club house with stupid people dressed up as animals and howling people trying to sing, campers all spoke to one another.
Separate showers X 2(ladies)and high season, did not have to queue, spotless and 5 toilets were spotless as well with toilet roll supplied.
Washing up room had washing up liquid supplied and cloths to use, also in the same room had an electric kettle to use, plus fridge and freezer all free. The next room had a washing machine to use for £3. 00 and a tumble dryer £1. 00.
Large open spaces between spots, plenty of room for a game of rounders, cricket and football, between kids and adults and plenty of drinking water points, recycling and rubbish points and close by to chip shop, butchers, pubs, tearooms and a well priced one stop shop.
Porlock weir was a quaint place to look around and watch the boats come in over a pint, really lovely and quiet place, with wonderful views where ever you went,
so relaxing and take the coastal path at the end of Sparkhayes Lane to Bossington or Porlock weir and watch the dogs mess at the start of the coastal walk, but sheer bliss of the sound of the sea.

What a fantastic time we had with friends on this charming site. The owner is one of the most laid back individuals we have ever met.
The site set over two fields, has all the facilities one could need. The toilet/shower block was always clean and well presented. Clothes could be washed and tumble dried and the money left in a tin.
The village of Porlock has many watering holes, We can certainly recommend the 'Top' Ship PH. We managed to work our way through the excellent menu during our stay.
The local 'One Stop' caters for everyday essentials.
This village like it occupants is full of character and charm.
We will be returning again next year and can not wait.
