The site it situated within 2 minutes’ walk of a very nice long sandy beach and providing the weather is good this then gives the site a positive. However on the down side this site has very poor toilet and shower facilities. And in desperate need for upgrade to keep in expectations from the touring group both caravans motor homes and indeed campers.
The toilets are cold, constantly wet on the floor (flooded) in the shower section both Men and my wife advises women’s areas also. Broken light shades in the men’s toilet block and with only one block was inadequate for the amount of people on the site for bank holiday August weekend.
Site shop was ok for essentials if you run out but expensive.
Overview the touring side needs updating facility wise would we go again to the site –no – unless the toilet block is modernised.
Area - yes - it a wonderful are to visit

Just back from this site ! nicely set out and plenty of room to pitch up with water and hook up on pitch. But due to hurricane bertha it was windy. Toilets were in a mess not clean at all. The showers were cold, elsan point to far away from pitch, they could do with one in each field. Washing machine and tumble dryers were broken, the shop was basic and I mean basic. No pub or decent shop close to site you need a car to go anywhere, £14. 00 taxi to asda and back in pwllheli, nice beach if it was not so windy. But they are fixing the dunes due to storm damage. Will I go again no!

Myself and husband have just got home from a lovely weekend at this site. The reviews I read before we left had me worried about the toilet/washing facilities however yes they are dated but they do what they need to and are warm. The pot washing area was covered and plenty of hot water too. Just a very short walk to the golden beach, my husband thought was great for sea fishing. It's got a well equipped shop, you choose your own pitch and the ground was nice and level. We will be back for longer next time. Don't forget your £20 deposit for toilet/shower room key it's refunded when key returned on leaving.

We have just come back from a lovely week at this site.
Luckily we had good weather so spent a lot of time on the beach.
We were a bit worried having read the previous reviews about the toilets and the noisy railway, but we had no problems at all.
We pitched on the large field next to the rally field and the toilet block there was kept lovely and clean, and was in good working order. The only thing I would suggest is chemical disposal facility in this field it was a long trek to the other one every day.
We had lots of space for the children to run around, and the trains that run every half hour during the day didn't bother us at all, If they ran during the night we didn't hear them.
Oh and by the way the beach never gets too busy, at the most there was only ever five or six family's on at the same time as us.
I would recommend this site completely!

Have visited this site for a number of years but not for the last couple. Set in a fantastic location with Pwlhelli only a short drive (or train trip !) away it could though be allot more. The staff as always are very friendly and welcoming. My only critcism would be the showers and toilets. Although free and hot for what you pay in site fees they could be allot better. The site still feels dated but with a bit of money spent the whole site could be much improved. On the plus side it is very tidy with lots of space and a fantastic beach minutes away. Small shop selling the basics (70p a pint of milk !)and a great indoor pool. Still a great site and well worth a visit especial if you have small children. Buying a motorhome for next year so may not return for a while.

We visited for the first time as the pictures on the web site looked great and very close to the beach. We weren't disappointed with the location, being almost adjacent to the beach.
From what I saw every pitch had its own tap and electric hook-up point which was a nice touch I thought.
The communal facilities were somewhat lacking however. The toilet blocks were dated, and not always the cleanest. The campsite shop was very limited with its range of goods and there was no evening entertainment or take away food options.
The only facility on the site not affected by weather is the indoor pool which was good, however it isn't free. We paid £1 for adults & 50p for juniors and there is no lifeguard watching either.
Overall great location but the site could do with a substantial update program.

This site trades on it's location- right on the beach; so great if you have good weather and want a cheap holiday for the kids, playing on the beach all day.
Other than that there's really not much else to say- facilities are basic and toilets were pretty awful, and in need of an overhaul; dated dirty and ankle deep in water.
Considering what the owner charges and how busy it was when we were there it really is unacceptable.
Still kids enjoyed it so like previous comments would spend a w/e there again, but not until cleanliness of toilets improve.

The site itself is level if somewhat bumpy in places. We arrived on a Saturday and had to find our own place on a busy site even though we had booked well in advance. Finding a spot with EHU was difficult. The site cleared a bit on the Sunday. NLots of sapce on the open field for the children to play.
The train station surprised us but was not a problem until a freight train decided to stop for 30 mins at 4. 30 AM! This was the only time we really noticed the trains.
The site shop sell basic essentials but there is a large Asda less than five minutes away.
The site has direct access to a great beach.
The bad points. For those staying for some time there is only ONE washing machine and two dryers to share for the whole site including many static vans.
The toilets although cleaned twice a day, (apart from the mirrors and the spiders webs on the windows) need updating or expanding. The main toilet block nearer the shop especially.
The block on the second field has only two showers which we found too small. The are activated by proximity sensors so you have to be careful drying and there is no where to hang you clothes within the cubicle.
There is only one sink with hot water for washing pots as pans.
One of the static residents said they have asked for the toilets to be improved for years but the site owners reply is always 'but you have great access to the beach. '
Please spend some money on the toilets and we may return.

The site is located right on the beach which is vast, clean and very picturesque. There are local council signs saying No Dogs but everybody ignored them as did we. The only thing seperating your tent/caravan/motorhome from the beach is a large sand dune about 20 feet high with steep steps cut through it (this could pose problems if you have mobility issues or use a wheelchair). You can hear the sea at night pretty much from anywhere on the site which is nice.
As someone else once mentioned you tend to find that sites with great locations sometimes leave a little lacking due to this advantage, in other words they can get complacent. I have to agree here. OK it is good value - we paid £23 a night for 3 adults and a motorhome but there is very little to do on the site. There is an indoor swimming pool (£1 a session) but there was so much chlorine in it it was like swimming in bleach. The fitness room is rather like a domestic one and we never saw anyone in it. There is a nice snooker room and it works on a timer on the lights. I am maybe being a little harsh here, as for £23 a night it represents good value.
The on site shop is extremely expensive. I don't smoke but somone told me 10 cigarettes - £4. Etc. My teenage son even whinged at the prices and he has NO money sense so it must have been bad!
The toilet/shower block is very 1960's if you get my gist. Clean, very basic and very functional. I'm not suggesting marble arches and gilt taps but a makeover looked due about 10 years ago. To take a shower you have to either trust leaving your clothes in a public area or take them into the cubicle and get them wet. The water was hot, plentiful and powerful. The toilets and showers reminded me a little of what I would expect on an army site somewhere.
It's a quiet site where tents tend to go in one field, campers and caravans in another and there is a small residential mobile home area.
There is a playground for the younger kids and it was popular during the day. It was equally popular at night with teenagers hanging around at night. It didn't bother me as I'm big and ugly enough to tell them to shut up without fear but I could see it annoying less confrontational folk. Remember there is nothing for them to do at night. If I were 17 and staying here I would be a basket case after three nights. My son was so desperate he even walked two miles along the beach to Pwlltheli and then back in desperaion to do something and I can't usually get him out of bed before 12 o'clock!
A rail line runs alongside the site but trains only appear every 2 to 3 hours and then slowly and just a couple of carriages.
Conclusion -
This site could be incredible considering the land they have and its location. A cafe/takeaway is begging to be set up. You know the sort of place - all day brekkies £3. 99. They would pack it out. There must have been 600+ holidaymakers on the site when we were there - what a captive audience! Somewhere for the teenagers to hang around is screaming out to be built- an ice cream/soft drinks bar with a few games machines in it open until 11 PM would have them begging to go back next year.
Would I go back? Probably, but after 3 days we had seen it all. Pwhllheli is a 20 minute cycle ride away on a dead flat road and it's a pleasant journey but the town is laid out oddly, it is spread all over the place and to be honest there's not really that much there if you want to spend a day out.
It's a clean and pleasant camp site but, at the risk of sounding sad, it lacks that vaa vaa voom you get when you land on a site which is excellent. We all know one and keep going back don't we? Mine is in Barmouth :0)
If you stay here for a couple of days with kids you will probably be glad to get going to stop them whingeing. If you're a couple on your own and want some peace it's ideal and you will love it. I'm 50 years old and have a stressful job but even I don't need that much peace. When I look for a site I want to be able to choose between activity or solitude (a difficult balance I know but they do exist). Abererch Sands was just a little too 'retirement' for me just yet. I get the feeling that not much has changed here for some time. Had I seen a Morris Minor and a Hillman Minx parked by the sides of a couple of tents inhabited by tank top wearing Frank Spencer characters I wouldn't have been surprised.
BTW if you're using a sat nav to get there it will try to take you down a narrow (and I mean NARROW!) 1 mile long track literally just before you get to the island outside the site. Ignore it and take the slightly longer way around (which means not taking the sharp left) because God help you if you are towing and meet someone comning the other way! You will know which road I'm on about as I remember saying 'This can't be right!??' when I started down it. If you do the same as I did STOP and double back because 100 yards down it you won't be turning around for at least a mile! You have been warned.

This site was chosen by our new friends who had booked us in for the Easter holiday so I did not know what to expect, I was pleasantly surprised.
The site is well planed out with tents and caravans/motorhomes having their own areas and a field at the entrance to the site which seemed to take every unit.
The reception acts as a shop which sells the basics, newspapers, and games for the kids and the staff seemed really nice.
Even though you book your pitch, its a case of arriving and finding one, we were lucky and managed to pitch altogether, electric points are all over this site but pitches are not clearly marked out so I did not know if I was taking up 1 or 2 pitches with my diablo 900 but nothing was said.
On the other side of the reception is a lovely sandy beach which was great and which also allows dogs. The toilets on site are like what other reviewers have said, they are dated but are clean and do their job, the children's play area kept the kids busy if the beach didn't
Asda and other shops are only 2 mins down the road at Pwllheli.
Don't be put off by the train track that runs along side the site, you see them but they go slowly pass so you don't really hear them. On the whole a great site and would stay again.
