This site has its good and less good points but overall we had a decent holiday here.
It is right on the beach promising 4 miles of sparkling sea and a sandy beach - we like staying right on the coast. You do get miles of sandy beach although it was a little unkempt and full of drift wood etc. It isn't 4 miles of pristine sands. However, we did use the beach for a stroll etc, but tended to go up the coast a bit to better beaches in the area for longer stretches on the beach.
The situation of this site is handy for exploring the bottom end of the Llyn penisula, not far from Abersoch, Porthmadog and the ffestiniog railway in the other direction and we had a lovely day at Aberdaron. So it is in a good central location and there is a train station right by the site. You won't be stuck for things to do in this part of Wales.
On arrival, it was basically find your own pitch even though you reserve it. This we found tricky as it was busy on arrival and finding one with the hook up gave us few choices. One was right the other side of the fence to the rubbish and smelt terrible. The other was hard to identify as people had parked their vans together and taken over more spots than I think they were allocated since the pitches aren't really defined. With better definition of the pitches, the find your own would work better. You do get a water tap on your pitch which is great and it isn't far for waste water disposal.
The showers were a bit tatty as others have said and water temperature varied a bit between the showers, but was mostly ok. It was adequate, but not enjoyable if that makes sense. Updating the facilities really would help improve this site.
We had no problems with noise. Being a family site, things tended to settle at 10. 30-11 and people went to sleep.
The train track runs right next to it and we were in a corner quite close to the level crossing so the early 5. 30 train tended to wake me when the barriers were bleeping. Then we got the 7. 30 wake up call too! We got used to it though!
We didn't use the swimming pool so I can't comment on that.
The playground was fine
There weren't many washers or driers for the size of site.
Washing up facilities were ok but again a bit of tidying up wouldn't go amiss.
All in all we had a reasonable holiday here, but defining the pitches, updating the washing, washing up, and shower / toilet block are much needed.

Have re-visited this site a number of times last year and this one.The last few in a caravan. Not much has changed which is nice though it looks like the showers etc have been re-painted. A great family site with plenty for the kids to do while the adults relax. Fantastic beach only a short walk away. Will be visiting again as many times as possible this year and can highly recommend a visit.

Visited this site 3 times this year.Fantastic beach with lovely blue sea, great for wave boarding, etc. Campsite nice and flat with plenty of ecu's and water points.Onsite shop that sells all the basics, milk, bread, papers etc. Turn left out of the campsite 5 mins to Pwlhelli and there's Asda, Iceland, Spar and most of the major banks. Excellent hardware store with very helpful staff. Onsite swimming pool that the kids loved when the weather is bad. Play area next to shower block where all the kids hang out till late. Nothing else for them to do! Games room is a joke and never saw the snooker table. Dog walking area next to the dunes. Showers / toilets are grim and could do with being updated for what it costs to stay.If your in a tent it can be very windy at times so a good idea to choose your pitch carefully! Trainline nearby but not a problem. There's even a station next to the site that is great if you don't want to drive. Overall a nice site with helpful friendly staff who are not intrusive. With some money spent ie showers and some shelter around the site, it could be an excellent campsite. Will be visiting again, though next time in a caravan.

Just got back from a 9 day break! Fantastic beach! Pool is nice- only down side is it is manned by teenagers + so older children run riot in the pool with no adults to control them!
Shower block a little dated- owners are making a lot of money from this site so I suggest some of it should be used to refurb the shower blocks! Although the showers were nice and hot.
Asda 5 mins away in car or you can get the train into pwllhelli from the site.
Chippy near Asda is lovely. Staff are friendly but booked well in advance and recieved no booking form or reciept!
Porthmadoc is a must for a wander!
All in all a nice site but could do with a little revamp!

Just got back from this campsite, good points. Electric hookup, plenty of, you can choose pitch. Bad points. Toilet block showers are awful, the site says that no ball games aloud by tents but there was footballs, cricket etc being played all around, very annoying. There is a swimpool on site only 50p, small shop which only stocks fags, papers, a few tins, but Asda is only up the road, 5 mins drive. We booked and paid for a week, we only stayed 2nights and have a credit note for 5 days

One of the most peaceful sites we have ever been to - the beach is a stones throw away and you can hear the waves at night - the toilets and showers were basic but spotless and the showers were hot and free - every other tent pitch had it own water tap and the field was dry and clean - we went with our 15 and 12 year and paid for elec hook up and wifi so in the evening (having spent all day on the beach) they used their laptops and we sat outside having a drink, playing cards - I could not fault this site and did not want to go home but unfortunately had to get back to work - if it's a total 'chill out' you want on a clean uncommercialised site then this is a fab site we will defo be going back - Ps our cocker spaniel also loved it !

This was our first site ever visited when we started touring (July 08). It was the perfect place to stay as the owners let you choose your pitch from loads in what is basically a big field with loads of pitches with Water & Electric hookup. Being my first time with a caravan, being able to drive into any pitch helped big time! Each pitch was big with the services you need (beware of the train track. We pitched up alongside by mistake!) The swimming pool was fine (you have to pay), the toilets and showers are ok too. The beach which is in alongside the site is wonderful. Will certainly go back on day. One note of caution.Plan your route as we went down a 1 mile road that was single track just before the site. Not good for a first time caravanner! Site has a shop. With the pool that's all.

Stayed for a couple of days early September, the beginning of our Llyn Penisula tour.
Site was OK, touring field next to the railway line although the passing trains did not disturb us. Site was nearly full on first day and not many pitches to choose from, well pitches not thick in mud anyway. We were a little worried that we may get stuck but we did get off ok even after a day of heavy showers.
The site is sand-dunes away from the beach which was very busy during the day and night with people fishing, don't know what the catch was like though!
The only disappointment was the toilet block - it is in dire need of serious modernising. I wasn't brave enough to try the showers, considering the price per night the owners need to consider spending some money on them. We have stayed at other sites for the same price with much better facilities.

We stayed at ABERERCH SANDS HOLIDAY CENTRE for a week at the beginning of August. We were a party of 6 adults and 5 children ages from 3 years to 14 years. We found the site quite and clean and the staff helpful. The toilets/shower block was kept to a reasonable standard with continuous hot water at all times. The camping field is well drained (good job because it rained almost every day while we were there) The beach is just a short stroll over one sand hill and the sands are great for the younger ones, and the water is clean and safe, ideal for water sports and fishing, we caught dogfish and gurnard on the incoming tide using squid as bait. All in all a great holiday and we will be returning to Abererch Sands in the Spring of 2009.

We are are new to camping and chose Abererch Sands as our destination, we are pleased to say, we were not disappointed.
*********************************************
We arrived in very very windy conditions, but two lovely couples helped us as we struggled to even hold on to our tent, never mind put it up. The first night was very wet and windy, the kids were scared and I was up drinking coffee at 4 in the morning, muttering to my self that 'we would be going home tomorrow'.
Tuesday morning we awoke to a very large puddle around our tent ! but to be fair they had had two weeks of rain before we arrived. The weather changed for the better and we loved it.
The beach is 1 minute away, with direct access from the site, the on site pool is great for younger kids, its not massive, so teenagers may feel a bit restricted, but our two loved it (6yrs and 10yrs)
There's an on-site shop for basic essentials and the site itself is only about 2 miles from local shops (asda, co-op etc) which is handy.
The toliet/shower block was excellent,( very clean )and was cleaned every day. The floor can become very sandy, but you'd expect this from a site so close to the beach.
There is a small playground, slide swings etc next to the shower block, which unfortunately seemed to be a gathering site a night for older kids, drinking smoking etc, luckily for us we pitched at other end of site, so well out of the way of any night time noise. All I can say is if you have very young children who you like tucked up in bed early on, so you can relax, stay away from the top end beside the park.
We had no noise after 10pm so were really pleased.
The local attractions were good, we found plenty to do. The local train stops beside the entrance to the site and this takes you either up the coast or down to the nearby town. We found plenty of cafes etc for reasonable meals out.
All together an excellent site that we would happily recommend to family and friends.
