I would love to say that the campsite is not any good and that you should steer clear but I can't. We have been going at the same time for years now and plan to keep on going. Everyone is very friendly, toilet is block is spotless, beach is a stones throw away, shops well stocked, fantastic surf school. What more could anyone want?

We've spent the first two weeks of July here for the last few years with our daughter and grandaughter plus dogs. It is our favourite place to holiday. You couldn't get a warmer welcome than you do from Lesley and Brian. Nothing is too much trouble. Small and friendly beautifully kept, level, well lit at night, grass is cut regularly and the toilets and showers are kept spotless at all times. Local Radio playing while you shower is great. Electric sockets are available for hairdryers etc. Rubbish bins are emptied at least twice a day and recycling is encouraged. Just a short walk from the site (app.300yds) is everything you need, food, drink, fish and chips etc. And a fantastic beach. Some lovely walks from the site as well. A friendly butcher brings us some really great meat for barbies. We've made some great friends here. A wonderful place to be.

We were lucky enough to snap up a cancellation at this site and were keeping fingers crossed that it lived up to expectations given by previous reviews and other comments on UKCampsite.co.uk. Well Magic Cove certainly lived up to everything!
Our pitch was next to the toilets, which I did wonder about at first, but it's such a small site that it wasn't a problem, in fact quite the opposite, as it meant our 3 and 5 year olds were ok to go to the toilet without a fuss!
Lesley and Brian were on hand everyday whenever needed and the other campers were a friendly bunch too! I'd already emailed Lesley several times about a few things and always got a prompt and helpful reply. It's a fairly sheltered site, level and with excellent toilet/washing facilities. The butcher visits Mon, Weds, Fri at about 10.30 - sausages were lovely, but didn't get much else, as he's set up more for bbq's, which our 2 children don't eat at the moment - maybe next year!
Only a short walk to a fab beach - we spent most days there, weather was sunny, and other days cloudy, but still warm. The beach has lots of large pools and rock pools etc, which was great as our youngest was scared of the waves!
We spent most time on the beach, but we did visit the Lappa Valley Railway which wasn't far. Our train mad 3 year old was in heaven. £30 for a family of 4, but once in we didn't have to pay for anything - crazy golf, go-karts, boating, adventure play area, maze and two more trains, which you can ride as much as you like - you just have to queue for them. We spent all day there, we'd forgotten lunch, so we ate in the cafe - children had a lunch box which was good value.
We will be returning next year - can't wait.

Just back from a week at this site. Due to popularity awkward to book (more on that later). Facilities on site: Toilets very clean with piped music, showers in the wall not very good. Tall people may have problem having decent shower and the pressure is quite low. No gas refills onsite, except small camping gas cylinders. No shop on site but extensive shop in village 200 yards away. Small friendly site, maybe too friendly.
The dog walk is quite restricted as above is a main road with no fencing or gate.
We were the only motorhome on site. Beach is nice though.

My wife and I only stayed here for 2 nights recently as we were walking part of the coastal path, but would agree with the other positve reviews below.
The owners are very friendly, and as we were walking with everything in two rucksacks did not have much with us. They lent us chairs, a wind break and some of their ice packs for free and we got a discounted 'hickers' rate of £8 per night (including two adults and a tent)
The location of our pitch on the site made us feel a little like we were in the front garden of the carvans pitched behind us, but that wasn't a problem. As the washing up facilites are in the mens and ladies toilets we could not spend any romantic evenings washing up together!
There is enough in Mawgan Porth (two decent local shops, pub, bistro, crazy golf) to keep you occupied all within 5 mins walk. (Everything looks a bit worn down in the village itself) Would not have wanted to have been there for a week without a car though. The newquay- padstow bus that we caught once, goes from 100 yards down road from site with an hourly service in both directions.
Would definitely return again in future

We decided that after 9 years away from Cornwall it was time to pay a visit and spent 5 nights at Magic Cove based on reviews on UK campsite. We were not disappointed as this is lovely friendly, clean and perfectly located site. A friendly welcome on site on arrival and chats during the week were appreciated.
It is a 5 minute walk to the beach/shops/takeaway/pub etc in Mawgan Porth. The beach is lifeguard attended and is dog friendly. It is not a huge beach at high tide so best to wait till the tide is out so the dog can have a better run.
The toilet/shower facilities were spotless and the piped music whilst in the shower was great! There is also a pot washing sink in both the mens and ladies blocks should you need them. CDP is round the back of the toilet block.
Recycling is actively encouraged for paper/cardboard/plastics and glass. There is a water tap and drain for grey water next to each pitch which was really handy and also a TV aerial point next to the EHU with free loan of the aerial cable.
The local butcher visits in his van every Mon/Wed/Fri you can hear him pipping his horn between 10-10.30 - try his sausages they are lovely.
Would definitely recommend walking over to Mawgan village (2.5 miles) to visit the tea rooms by the Post office and the craft shop, there is also a pub and a lovely church plus the Japanese gardens. We also walked the coastal path down to Watergate bay (5 miles approx)which gives stunning views of the beaches and coastline plus the Perigrine Falcons that nest along the cliffs. Dogs need to be on leads and kids well supervised as the path is very close to the cliff edges in places.
We were pitched next to 3 families that book the same pitches every year so it must be good!

I wrote a review last year and went back again this. I was impressed last year and was not let down, my opinions still stand it is a great campsite and very friendly, toilets and showers are clean and well maintained, 5 minute walk and you have the shop, pub, restaurant, chippy and, surf school and a great beach that allows dogs and has lifeguards. We are allready looking at dates to book next year.
Highly recommended.

What a lovely place to stay!
Magic Cove is situated a few minutes walk from a beautiful beach, nice pubs, shop, restaurant and fish and chip shop! What more could you want!
My husband and I stayed at Magic Cove on our first camping trip! Not having camped for many years. The shower blocks were spotless, I thought the piped music into the blocks was a really nice touch. For the ladies, bring your hair dryer and straightners as they also provide sockets!
The family who run this campsite take real pride in the service they provide and couldn't do enough for us, they could definitely teach some of the bigger parks a thing or two! I will definitely return to Magic Cove, what a great find!

Well what a fantastic site! First class!
I'd been camping as a child but hadn't been since. Until we decided to stay at Magic Cove in June 2007 (before the summer rains came!). We had already booked a week in a barn in Colan with the rest of our family but decided to come down to Cornwall a day early.
We found Magic Cove a pleasant little oasis, which had fantastic amenities and only a few hundred meters from the glorious sands of Mawgan Porth. Although we only had a basic tent and very little camping equipment with us (we're not seasoned campers!) we enjoyed our stay here immensely.
The showers are spotelessly clean and only 10p for about 3 minutes. All pitches are flat and regularly raked over with sand to keep them dry. The owners are a lovely couple who are round the site most of the day. Also the camping spots seem to be placed in the middle of the site, so they're almost protected by the caravans which are round the edge.
The beach at Mawgan is a dream and if you get good weather it's even better. It's good for little kiddies as the tide doesn't come right in. The sunsets are a must see! There's a few pubs and shops on the front but no arcades/fairground if you're looking for that sort of thing. This is not for people who want a rowdy, typical British seaside resort. I just hope is keeps its peaceful tranquil ways! There's a great pub, The Merrymoor Inn, which serves food all day and a great pint of Doom Bar!
Newquay and Padstow are only a short drive away.
Big thumbs up from me for Magic Cove and Mawgan Porth!

Nice clean site, toilets and showers were the best. Pitches big enough but not a lot of room between each unit. Fantastic location just a few mins from the beach. No room for the kids to play but with the beach so near it doesnt cause too much of a problem. The owners very friendly helpful and trusting. Well worth a visit but book up as gets very busy.
