Just returned from a lovely bank hol weekend. It was our first visit and we hope to return. I think the previous reviewer followed the directions incorrectly. Make sure you access from the other end of Dean Lane and you will be fine.
This is a well maintained and clean site. Has a lovely rural feel with mature trees and open green space. The kids enjoyed the play area and mini assault course.
Dog walks and surrounding public footpaths all good. Not much in the immediate vicinity but that was fine for us.
I'd recommend this site. They take non club members and the camping pitches looked good too.

We used this site to visit relatives in central London, but the journey by car to Stratford took an hour, at a minimum, which was disappointing.
We'd read other comments about difficulty of access to the site, and to be honest we'd have to agree. The CC site mentions doing a you turn at a roundabout, but this is actually a you turn at the Starbucks Coffee on the A23. Don't try to turn right at this junction as this end of Dean Lane is treacherous. Cars cannot pass cars easily, let alone caravans.
The site itself is a little tired. The shower blocks could do with a spruce up, although the water pressure is good.
Some of the roads around the site are full of potholes, which is unusual for a CC site.
There appear to be some seasonals on this site, which is a little disappointing.

This site is surely a hidden gem. Surrounded by woods and fields, on top of a ridge, and yet only 13-ish miles from central London. The on-site facilities were spotless and warm inside, and safe outside. I've never met such obliging and friendly wardens anywhere - a credit to the CC. This was our first holiday as CC members on a CC site, and hope that it is the rule not the exception. The kids play areas were great - lots of open space at the bottom of a slope; a footy area and trim trail, plus as much den-building in the woods as any child could wish for. The approach of 'take your time, drive round and find your ideal pitch, then let us know' was most refreshing, and the majority of the pitches lovely and flat. Wi-fi, which we paid for, was a little slow, but no problem. An easy drive into Coulsdon for the train and Waitrose was much appreciated, although I must agree that it is more than 2 miles to the roundabout from the motorway! Also, we found the constant hum from the motorway very intrusive for several days.
We enjoyed the fish and chips from the visiting Van, and the kids loved getting sweeties from reception. We are looking forward to returning soon!

Stayed here for 3 nights in October 2013. Good location for visiting the local area, which is much more rural and scenic than we were expecting. Facilities on the site are excellent with plenty of space, and in the daytime when we arrived, all you could hear were the birds singing, despite the proximity to the motorway network. We didn’t go into central London but this site could be used as a base for doing that. I would advise you to avoid using the Sat Nav, and to stick to the Caravan Club’s suggested directions to the site, as some of the approach roads are very narrow. We would definitely use this site again.

We stayed here for 5 nights over the Easter weekend and found it to be a gem of a site. Clean facilities that were never crowded, despite only seeming to have 8 showers per sex for a large site.
Two good play areas for the children, and lots of space for them to roam, with possibly the best walks (dogs included) directly from a site, that we have ever found.
Hardstanding pitches were of a good size and layout, but many of the grass pitches, whilst the ground seemed firm, were very uneven, leading to haphazard levelling and awning problems.
We had intermittent mobile signal, and no 3G coverage at all where we were pitched, by the smaller play area.
There were numerous power outages during our stay, and whilst the wardens were informative, it seems the problem initiated from a recent increase in pitches and hook ups, that was not handled correctly at outset. Therefore once the site was full, and it was extremely cold, the increased demand overloaded the master system, affecting the entire site, wash blocks included. Not ideal from a call out point of view as it was a bank holiday weekend, and the very fact it was not sorted straight away demonstrates the severity of the problem. We were fortunate that it was the start of our season, so we ventured out with a freshly filled gas bottle, that is now down to nearly empty, after having had to rely on it for all the things the electric normally covers for a large chunk of our holiday (cooking, heating, fridge). The site quickly sold out of gas, and was unable to replenish it due to the bank holiday.
We would go back, there was a lot going for this site, even at full capacity, but I feel let down by the caravan club, both in the seemingly substandard upgrade of the site, and the lack of customer care during the power failure.

A really nice and well maintained site suitable for caravans, motorhomes and tents alike. Good for families or for couples. Great for dog owners as has on site dog walking in woodland which links to open wheatfields where you can walk for miles.
Great pub called the Fox on Coulsdon common, about 40 minutes walks through the woodlands, over the fields and then through Happy Valley, good reasonably priced beer and food and dog friendly garden.
Will definitely book again, the facilities were excellent, two big toilet/shower/washing blocks and plenty of stations to fill fresh water and dispose of chemical toilet waste, never had to walk far. Pitches are well sized so not too close to neighbours, but wouldn't be a problem anyway as everyone was really friendly.
Great bonus is a Fish and Chip van on site early Friday evenings for a break from cooking.
Although the site is just miles from Coulsdon, Merstham, Croydon etc, you would think you were in the middle of the countryside

We go to this site every year and really love it. It is a big site but plenty of space and it doesn't feel overcrowded. We stay on a hard standing pitch which are very spacious and its not a far walk to the nearest water/waste area. Toilets are always clean and the showers are so good, best I have yet come across.
The children's play areas are good, one for the younger children and another down the dip for the older children plus a giant chess board for the kids as well.
This stay the site had issues with the local authority with regards to the drains been blocked on the main road. This meant no toilets or emptying of waste for over 24hours.
Although some people where not happy we praise the wardens in this time of crisis, they offered refunds if required if people needed to leave earlier and they ( as soon as they could) got portable toilets to help until the blockage was dealt with.
Everything about this site we love and we will keep returning each year.

This is our regular weekend away site. Always well managed by site wardens, toilet blocks cleaned daily, two play areas for the kids and somewhere for them to play football away from the caravans and a hidden picnic area. There is dog walking just outside.
The site pitches are a good size and there is a tesco about 5 minutes away.
The site is just inside the M25 but you would not know it. Lots of rabbits running around

We will be returning to this lovely site but I don't see the point in leaving a review unless it reflects your actual experience, and is written to be helpful to future visitors:
Firstly, It is imperative that you follow the directions given by the caravan club as the last couple of miles arent the best for towing caravans. Dont turn off at Starbucks coffee building if your towing!
This site is quiet, clean, attractive, and on different levels. The staff are efficient and friendly, particularly Billie and her little dog. The shop was not well-stocked as it was low season but Sue on reception gave us some teabags on arrival to keep us hydrated until we went to the shops a few miles away.
I found the dish washing area a bit creepy at night as it is in the passageway leading to the toilets. A previous reviewer commented that the toilet cubicles were small. They are in fact standard size, but the big loo-roll dispensers are placed on the wrong wall, making the cubicle entrance 6 inches narrower, they simply need to be moved to the opposite wall.
There was only 1 toilet block open during our stay, and no alternative facility was offered when the toilets were closed for cleaning, even though there are two blocks on site. Returning from a long walk, I went to the ladies at 5 to 11am and it had closed early without notice.
The showers here are spacious, well fitted and are the best power showers ever, an absolute delight, and all have their own little plastic stool to sit on and dry yourself. Well done Caravan club, this really makes a big difference to the meaning of caring for the comfort of your customers.
We didn't have children with us but could see they are well catered for with the outdoor equipment.
Our dogs loved the woodland accessed directly from the site entrance and afterwards we were able to wash their feet with the stand-pipe located just passed reception.
This site is well positioned for London and amazingly quiet considering its location. It is excellent value for money and I certainly recommend it to others, It is a delight for dog-owners and well worth the Caravan Club membership fee!

Friendly wardens on site
Attractive site all clean and tidy. Pitches area a good size and well spaced.
Chidrens play areas are well thought out and not too crowded.
Showers and toilets are clean and tidy if a little old fashioned. The dressing area in the showers gets very wet so would advised taking a floor towel.
Plenty of hot water with adjustable heat setting which is really helpful when showering small children.
The reception had a few basics but really could do with being better stocked (maybe it is in the summer months?) There are no shops or pubs/restaurants within walking distance that we found they are all a good car ride away.
Good location for M25 but far enough away not to be noisy.
