One of our favourite sites on the Caravan Club Network. The entrance is the most attractive I have seen anywhere with quite amazing flower displays and hanging baskets. Although a large site it doesn't feel overcrowded with pitches grouped into smaller areas. Facilities are spotless as usual with the Caravan Club and it's location makes it ideal for trips into London, Surrey, Kent etc. The only down side is that local amenities are a car ride away, but they are plentiful and very close.

A large site with happy and helpful wardens who clearly take a great deal of pride in their site. Don't attempt to access the site other than by the route they recommend. The site has pass key floor steel barriers for added security, it won't let you out unless you have entered through these gates. Reception is awash with hanging baskets and flower tubs. Immaculately kept grounds and facility blocks. There is a mix of hardstanding and grass pitches, some of which are quite removed from the facilities but from which you can observe many bird species including nuthatches and great spotted woodpeckers literally just feet away from your pitch. Squirrels and rabbits in abundance. You arrive and then choose your pitch. There are new childrens playgrounds planned and the plans are very imaginative. At present only football goal posts exist. The seasonal pitches are being reduced to allow for more tourers. This is rich middle England territory with country houses, Charles Darwin House,English Heritage and National Trust sites within easy reach. Lovely walks from the site with far reaching views across the north Downs. We absolutely loved it and have left our caravan there in short term storage. A quiet escape from modern life.

Set in a beautiful rural setting with an equally beautiful entrance, the wardens have worked hard on their floral display.
The pitches are all generous in size and all within easy access of the immaculate heated shower blocks with lovely powerful showers. Only negative thing was that the tumble drier swallowed up lots of 20p before clothes were dry.
For campers with dogs there were a few choices of lovely dog walks right next to the site.
Unfortunately this however is not the most children friendly site, despite being advertised in the details there is no play area and in the surrounding area we did find few attractions for toddlers.
Overall this is a pleasant, well maintained site.

September 2004 Very large clean site, 2 toliet blocks with 4 showers, pot wash, laundry facilities. Climbing frame for children. Giant sized chess and drafts set to play. Concete area with hose pipe and tap to clean caravans - free of charge.South Coulsdon train station 2 miles away, took 30 mins to get to London Bridge, only cost £3.60 for a travel card for adults. Brilliant site, friendly wardens, will visit again and see the London lights!

Alderstead Heath is situated a couple of miles off the M25 in what seemed to be open countryside. You are just aware of planes flying overhead to and from Gatwick but it was not intrusive. There seems to the a firing range nearby which can be off-putting until you get used to it. Otherwise it was very peaceful.
The site is set in 30 acres with 90 tourist pitches. There must be almost double that number of 'Seasonal Pitches' - if it was France we would call them static's! There are a mixture of all weather and grass pitches. The grass ones are set informally amongst the trees. If the site was full, which I suspect it rarely is, it could look quite crowded. There are two toilet blocks to the usual CC standard. One feature of the site I particularly liked was the flowers which festooned the toilet blocks and site office.
This would be a good site if you want to visit London but don't want to drive through London to get the the nearer sites. The site accepts non CC members.
