We had a great stay at Kippford over the holiday weekend. The site is lovely - mostly statics and tourers with a few tent pitches with electric hook-ups.
The positives:
1. Beautiful area.
2. Immaculate holiday park which felt very safe for kids.
3. Very well kept toilets and shower blocks with plenty of hot water (and you don't have to pay extra).
4. Straight forward pricing without ripping you off by adding lots of extras like other nearby sites do (Loch Ken take note!)
5. Walking distance to Kippford which is really pretty and has two pubs which sell good food.
6. Handy little on-site shop for the basics.
7. Two fab kids adventure playgrounds.
8. Friendly staff and nice reception area.
Negatives:
None really - wasn't that keen on the terraced pitches as we were in a group of 3 tents and the kids kept falling down in the mud when going up and down the slope between each pitch
- but not a big deal at all though.
Would highly recommend a visit to Kippford Holiday Park.

My whole experience of dealing with Kippford has been nothing short of excellent from the start, we are slightly unusual in that we have 5 dogs, and tow our caravan on a van. From the initial conversation the owner was nothing but helpful, and put us on a pitch where we wouldn't be disturbed, and more importantly the dogs wouldn't disturb anyone else.
Its already been said that this is a lovely site, immaculately kept, pitches are generous, there was more than enough space for caravan, awning and van, and the showers are the best I have ever come across on a campsite, always clean, and always hot, the area is springer heaven and we visited a different forest everyday as well as the beach at Sandyhills.
If we do return to this area we will be staying at Kippford, a fantastic site that I have recommended to all my doggy friends on other Forums

This was an excellent holiday, we have NO qualms in recommending this site, it is peaceful, clean has all the amenities needed, the shop was well stocked the toilets were clean and the showers had hot water galore. It was nice to feed the red squirrel right next to the caravan it would even take the nuts from you hand. The pitch was big enough for the caravan, Awning and the car, well sheltered by the Lleylandi Hedge which served its purpose on Thursday when we had 50 to 60 mph winds during the night. We have always had a policy of never returning to the same site twice, but we have already booked this site again for Easter 2013.

Just spent 3 nights at this site in a great location. We were lucky enough to use a 3 nights for 2 voucher from the MMM mag which numbed the pain a little of the £23 a night for a 'hardstanding' pitch with ehu in Sept. We thought it a bit steep for this time of the season on a site with no entertainment costs and basic, dated toilet outbuildings. They were however clean and the showers hot.
My main gripe of this '5 star' site is most definitely the hardstanding pitches. Yes they are well screened with hedges but the gritty material used covered only enough for the van itself which meant stepping in mud when leaving or entering and therefore trailing it all over the place. I spoke to 2 other caravan owners who had been to reception to complain themselves. It needs sorting and fast.
Kippford is lovely and the anchor sells nice food and good real ales Would visit again but only if the hardstandings were improved.

I used this site for a couple of nights while on a motorcycle holiday with a couple of friends.
The staff where friendly and the setting is nice but Its not really set up for tents very well as the pitches are on fine gravel with very little grass so your groundsheet gets wrecked.
The toilet/showers are very dated and not up to the amount of use they get, there was also a so called campers barn which turned out to be just an filthy old shed full of rubbish and a couple of picnic benches.
The area is very nice with a couple of good pubs within walking distance and good road links to the coast.
I'm sure the site would be fine for other units but the tents certainly felt like the poor relations!
It's also very expensive (almost to the point of B+B prices)so I wouldn't camp here again.

A very good campsite with an unusual layout. Units are mixed (statics, caravans, motor homes and tents) but separated by bushes and trees, making the layout interesting and unusual.
The toilets were very clean. The whole organisation of the site was excellent from the well stocked wee shop to the very helpful Warden and reception staff.
Kippford is a lovely little village with two good pubs and a walk in on a sunny evening is perfect. The walk is less than a mile.
The kids loved the two play grounds and the site felt very safe.
When visiting the area we will visit again.

Rang this site when we were about 30 minutes away and although they were closed for the evening the warden said it would be no problem to turn up and she would look out for us.
It was only an overnight stop for us so the only facilities we used were the toilets, showers and pot wash all very clean and plentifull hot water.
Showers particluarly good.
Paid £5 returnable deposit for key to toilets and showers.
Nice site if you like all amenities on hand.

I would recommend this park to anyone who wants a quiet relaxing holiday. The toilets and showers are immaculate and the showers are not the annoying type that needs constantly pressing on.
We liked the idea of each pitch being separated by bushes etc. There are plenty of areas for small children to play. The shop on site is small and the opening times are restricted, but this didn't cause us any problems at all.
The village is only a short walk away and has two pubs which both do great food. The walk along the coastal path is lovely and seems to go on for ever.
We'll definitely be going again.

This is a lovely well kept elevated site with pitches well spaced apart and level. The toilets washroom and elsan facilities are spotless.
There is a shop on site which is well stocked with the daily essentials. We found the staff to be very welcoming and polite.
A bus service passes by the camp gate to the lovely little village of kippford which is only a short walking distance away for the more energetic, a visit here is a must to see the beautiful scenery and walk along the shell beach.
We will definitely visit this site again and can highly recommend it to all.

This site is beautiful, the location is great, the shrubs and plants all dotted around to attract and welcome local wildlife.
Shop on site is well stocked, owners incredibly friendly and welcoming.
The pitch we were allocated was so so. We were left feeling rather intruding on 2 other families who had already pitched up before we arrived and. The pitch was very hard but had good drainage.
Facilities generally were very nice, incredibly clean though more showers wouldn't go amiss. The disabled facilities however are less than impressive, it felt as though they were just built on a whim and not very well thought out location wise, our son uses crutches and cant walk very far so we had to drive him to the facilities as they were down a very steep incline. It would be nice to see something more central and easier to access.
We visited all surrounding towns and some were great and some were just little towns which were nice to visit. Castle Douglas was our favourite the Loch with all the Swans is beautiful, and our son had a great time feeding them all and having them come to him.
There are 2 children's play areas, 1 at the very bottom of the site which is built for older children and a little further up. My son liked the one closer to our tent and played here every night and loved to watch the rabbits.
We bought some monkey nuts which our boy strategically placed around our tent in the hope to catch a close up of some rabbits and red squirrels, it worked he thought it was great and I'm sure the animals appreciated the extra grub on a very chilly April morning.
Great site probably wouldn't return as it felt more geared towards caravans and statics. Would however love to return to Scotland sometime.
