Myself and two friends visited this site for three nights during a motorcycling holiday in this area.
First impressions where good, with the owner being professional in his manner and the reception and general layout of the site being very pleasant, but sadly once we got to our allocated pitches things changed somewhat!
Both of the pitches where quite small considering that you pay for the pitch and not the size of the tent(our pitches where only big enough for three man tents at the most)and the cost for three nights was £70 per pitch. Next came the condition of the ground, it was poorly drained and had hardly any top soil so pegs would only go in a few inches before hitting rock, on one pitch as the ground was so wet the owner had spread GRAVEL! on the ground so you had to put very expensive tent groundsheets onto a surface that would wreck them.
We decided to stay though and over the three days found that the so called great showers where actually only four, two of which where at the other end of the site and in rather dated condition (in fact one didn't even work properly), the washing up sinks where old and one of the toilet blocks was an old porta cabin with just two w/c's and a ceiling that was caving in and mouldy.
Also on the site brochure and website it advertises 'picnic area' for campers to use if the weather is poor, it was poor one day so we decided to use this facility to cook in but when we found it, all it turned out to be was an old shed that was locked and didn't look like it had been used for at least three years, overgrown with ivy and covered in bird poo.
One good thing about this site is the area, which was so nice to visit and the two local pubs are great.
All in all the site is a complete rip off and I would advise strongly against staying there, but do visit the area as there are much better and cheaper sites nearby.

First time visit to this lovely, quaint site. Quite old fashioned and on lots of levels.
Toilets block/showers were used were antiquated but perfectly adequate and clean. Good play areas. Noise levels certainly reduced after 9pm and we were even opposite the childen's playground.
Kippford is gorgeous, take a walk round the coast to the amazing shell beach or at low tide across the sea to a lovely island. Lovely little shop on site. Nice walks around the site.
Excellent food at hotel in Kippford, think it was the Anchor.
Overall would definitely visit again if up this way.

Stayed here for 2 nights in our new Vango Samara 600 tent (me, hubby, 2 kids aged 13 & 10). On arrival we were given a coloured map, which covered the whole site and showed where all the facilities, gardens, etc where.
The site has 3 toilet blocks, we were not near the main ones but we were given a key to use for the staff toilets which were very close to our pitch, very handy at night! The other 2 main blocks, although not very modern, were absolutely spotless and well laid out, lots of space for showering and getting changed.
The site has lots of statics and lodges around the park. The views from the top of the park are stunning well worth the walk up the hill!
Our pitch was right next to the road and on first impressions thought this is going to be a nightmare but to be honest you get used to it very quickly and at night it didn't pose us any problems. Our pitch was very sheltered which was a bonus as it was very breezy.
There is an adventure playground and playpark on the site for kids. Our two used the adventure playground more than the playpark.
The staff are very helpful, we had a problem with our ehu but they helped us sort it out with no fuss at all.
There is a shop on site which was reasonably priced and stocked but it is the only shop in Kippford! However Castle Douglas and Dalbeattie are very close by for bigger shops.
Kippford itself is lovely just a short walk from the site took us about 10 minutes. There are 2 pubs but we never ate at any of them so can't comment. The harbour area is very picturesque!
We also visited Dumfries & Kirkcudbright, very enjoyable weekend had by all.

We stayed with our VW campervan over the royal wedding weekend. The site is very nice with a short walk to the nearby beautiful Kippford.
The site has a lot of lodges and statics, with some spaces for campers and tents around the site. Most pitched are fairly private with hard-standing and grass areas.
The shop is excellent and value for money- the only shop in Kippford. Use nearby Castle Douglas for a big shop.
Just a note, Kippford can be windy so good pegs for tents and awnings.

I am delighted to respond to our reviews and let you know of recent developments at our STB 5* 'Countryside Access Park' beside the pretty seaside village of Kippford. Touring improvements include many looblock upgrades - we have 3 of these to cover all 60 pitches on the different levels of the park. Extra hot water storage, full heating, enlarged dishwashing area, larger and re-surfaced tent and touring pitches, discreet extra lighting, power leads and (steel) pegs to borrow for the odd hard area. All drive-on pitches have hard-standing. All costs are fully inclusive. Ask for our own updated leaflets for local walks, drives, and fishing spots so you make the most of your holiday. Now part of the 'Best of British' group, and always 5*.
We hope to see you soon, Robin Aston, Park Owner

We stayed here for two nights in August. The staff were friendly and helpful, they could not do enough for you. The shop was well stocked and friendly staff in there too.
The thing that let it down for us were the toilets. Although they were clean I think they could do with modernising quite a bit.
The pitches were screened by shrubs which made it nice and secluded and it was peaceful.
The walk into Kippford took just 5 minutes if that and was pleasant. Both pubs are nice in Kippford, we never had a meal but they did look nice. If you go past the Anchor pub and carry on you come to a little shop with a road by the side of it, carry on walking down there and it takes you to a beach that is covered in sea shells it was amazing to see. And if the tide is out then you can walk over to Rough Island.

Spent a week in June on this site following a recommendation. It's not the cheapest place to stay. We took a motorhome and a tent for three of us. The welcome was warm and informative. We were given a colour map, which covered the whole site and showed where all the facilities, gardens and walks in the grounds were.
The lady showed us on the map where our respective pitches were located, which was across from reception, close to the road and a bit of a distance from the main toilets and showers. As we were some distance from the main facilities, she provided us with a couple of keys for the staff toilets which were much nearer to us. Nice thought.
Our pitches were nice in so far as they were next to each other, screened with bushes to form your own area and provided sufficient room from other pitches. The downsides were the ground was extremely hard for tent pegs and the proximity of the road to our pitches meant that traffic noise on a weekday morning was quite intrusive.
The site is large and the grounds extensive with tiered locations for those who are touring, static caravans and wooden lodges. The landscaping is imaginative and varied with thoughtful planting including an eco-garden. We were lucky enough to spot red squirrel. We were unlucky enough to encounter that favourite of pests in Scotland, the midges! But there’s not a great deal you can do about those wherever you are in the Summer months in this part of the country.
The main toilet and shower facilities, whilst not the most modern, were well laid out. They may have been a bit of a walk away but that was no real hardship as the grounds are so pleasant to stroll around. Inside, there was plenty of space to wash, shower and change. They were always spotless. Being able to nip out in the middle of the night to the staff toilet however was a nice bonus!
The shop on site is well stocked with provisions including fresh bread and local produce. Newspapers are also available. What I particularly liked was they were happy for us to use their freezer for our coolbox freeze packs at no charge. There are details outside on the noticeboard about events and takeaway deliveries.
Kippford is a pleasant short walk. It’s a lovely little village and can recommend the food at the Anchor Inn. Can also recommend watching the sun set across the harbour. The walk from Kippford to picturesque Rockcliffe is also to be recommended for the spectacular views out to sea.
Dalbeattie, the birthplace of the First Officer on Titanic, is the nearest small town for necessities. Castle Douglas a real 'food town' is 7 miles away. It also has a Tesco, the nearest supermarket for your regular needs.
This is an excellent place to stay for the site itself, the local area and the spectacular places to visit a little further afield.

Stayed on this site for three nights in April, weather very good and even bought some suncream. We pitched just opposite the shop and the pitches are allocated to you when you arrive, the pitches are small so could not manage to put our awning up so would recommend that when booking to ask for a pitch big enough for an awning, that was the only flaw, everything else about this site is great.
Well stocked friendly shop, clean warm toilets and showers with plenty hot water and the site itself is in beautiful landscaped gardens and is a joy to simply walk round, if you venture up to the 'Alpine Area' then you are greeted with wonderful views and I was a little jealous of the people with the large static caravans who could simply relax on their decks and enjoy the landscape.
Kippford is a lovely little village with a couple of nice looking pubs and a shop, the walk along the side of the water is lovely and there is a walk from this to Rockcliffe which again is a lovely little village with a smashing tearoom, a walk worth doing.
This site has good facilities for families with a laundry and good play areas including an adventure playground, there are also static caravans and lodges and all in beautiful surroundings. This site was recommended to us by friends and we would certainly recommend it to others and will hopefully be returning.

This site was very clean and well maintained, the staff were very pleasant and helpful, the pitch was shielded by high shrubs so we had a lot of privacy, the toilet/shower block was well litten up at night the showers were quite spacious very warm and a lot of free hot water. The on site shop was well stocked and priced reasonable and sold a lot of home made products. A lot of walks and dog friendly. The nearest village is Kippford which is only a 15 minute walk there are 2 pubs and a little gift shop. A nice walk on low tide across a cockle shelled beach which takes you to an island (bird sanctuary), outside one of the houses there are lots of different art sculpture. Dalbeatie is about 5 miles from site several take away shops and the usual shops ( grocer, chemist etc), the unipart garage opposite the Ship Inn was very helpful and friendly when we broke down (many thanks).

Just returned from a wonderful week at this site, and I must admit that we were very impressed indeed - in fact I am returning for another week in July!
Considering we were there for a school holiday week it did not feel the slightest bit crowded.
Shower block was small but very clean and we never needed to wait for the shower. I believe that at busy periods they did run out of hot water but this never affected us.
There is a well stocked shop with very friendly staff - in fact everyone was extremely friendly even in the surrounding towns.
This is situated in a beautiful part of Scotland with excellent walks all around and a great mountain bike area in Dalbeattie forest.
In summary this site is difficult to fault.
Highly recommended!
