We visited the site for the extended Royal wedding bank holiday weekend. We chose it primarily as it was close to home and because of the facilities to keep the children entertained.

The site is easy to find from the M5, by following the signs and directions on the booking form. First impressions are good as the entrance is well manicured and signs direct you to a specific touring check in booth.

Unfortunately we arrived late and had to go to security to get our pitch allocation. Which leads me to my first gripe. We booked a few months in advance at the same time as another family and requested to be pitched next to each other.

Haven use a central booking system and only allocate pitches a week before arrival and apparently couldn't facilitate our request!Which was very odd and disappointing, especially as the site was half empty. It wasn't a great problem as we were at least in the same row but still annoying.

Second gripe size of pitch! We booked a fully serviced hardstanding pitch but the pitch was very small and goodness knows how you would have fitted a full size awning on, as our little sport awning took up the available ground and pegging out was hindered by a man hole cover. The scrap of grass left was long and in need of a cut. Our friends pitch was much better though and had a large expanse of grass behind where we were able to sit out and hold an impromptu Royal wedding street party.

Third gripe, though more of a comment than a gripe was that you could hear music playing in the evenings. We never really found out where it was coming from but we suspect it was either one of the residential properties behind our pitches or from the pub opposite the site entrance. It definitely wasn't from the site entertainment centre. It couldn't be heard once inside van, only when sitting out.

On the plus side, the shower block is new and modern, with free good hairdryers, yes they did look a bit 'used' at times and would probably struggle if the site was full, but plenty of hot water and no annoying push button system :-).

The site is excellently placed just behind the seafront and has pedestrian access to the promenade and just a short 10 min walk up to the front. Enough in Burnham to pass a few hours away and if the tide is in and the sun is shining the beach is pleasant enough.

The on site pub served a nice meal, slightly more expensive than pub prices, we didn't try the pizza take away, although it looked good and thought the delivery to your pitch a good idea. We braved the entertainment one night and true to form endured the party dance with Rory (i think, lol)and a few hits sang, adequately by some cheesy band. Not really our cup of tea but we did enjoy it. Our young teenagers loved the site as they could explore on their bikes and hang out at the park and arcade. We felt happy to let them wander, as security was good and there was no signs of big gangs of kids wandering around. But the site was half empty.

We would definitely return for another off season weekend, but this time be prepared to ring site direct nearer to arrival date to request specific pitches and ideally be along side our friends.

Just came back from this park, have to say I enjoyed it!

The toilets were clean, the pitches were big and we got lucky as it only rained once for about one hour the whole time we were there.

The entertainment is good. The funstars were are really nice and did there jobs well, although drinks were really expensive. We went in the Mash and Barrel twice during our stay, was average however we walked into Burham to find Wetherspoons which I much preferred and it was cheaper too.

The indoor pool could get pretty cold but was a good pool, nice slide, the kids enjoyed that. We didn't try to outdoor pool but it looked very nice and clean.

Staff were very friendly, helped my dad book two holidays for this year and next (out of season) for a good price, and helped me book the family holiday for next year, all at good rates.

On site there is a Spar, which sells average food and supplies at blown-up prices. Much better to walk into Burnham as there is a Morrisons just across the road from Wetherspoons right on the sea front. The beach was reasonable, be careful of the sinking mud and quicksand if your planning to go, if your after a day on the beach I'd go to Weston Super Mare down the road as there is a wonderful beach and there is also a shopping centre nearby.

Overall, a good park. Haven continues to rip us of with inflated prices, but a good park, my favourite one I've been to (been to the Wales ones numerous times, Hafan y Mor the favourite there).

I'd highly recommend it. I liked it so much I'd like to get a static there, shame as a family it is too expensive.

The site lives up to the usual Haven standard in most respects - plenty to do here both on site and in the surrounding areas.

The only disappointments for us were the pool and the toilets. Having been to Kiln Park (another Haven site in Tenby) both facilities were much better here. The pool was too cold in the mornings and the shower block wasn't as nice - maybe we were expecting too much - compared to some sites they were still of a good standard.

Stayed for the week, just before the schools broke up and it was still very busy although it never became an issue for us.

Word of warning - there were lots of ants about, we found a nest in out awning under the groundsheet. There are warnings in the reception area of the main complex.

Mobile signal: Orange signal was very patchy on site and in surrounding area.

The warden and reception staff were very helpful. All in all a nice, Haven type quality, site that we will return to next year.

First thing to say is that this site is a Haven site. Obvious I know, but some people seem to forget this when booking here.

Its fairly typical of a Haven in almost every aspect. If you have a young family and enjoy cheesy entertainment whilst the kids have plenty to keep them occupied then this site is fine.

If you want an adults only site that is peaceful and quiet then go elsewhere.

Plus points - the staff were really helpful and friendly - thanks to April on reception and Darren the site warden.

The touring section is reasonably well laid out. We had the Euro pitch which benefited from its own electric, water and waste supply. There is also a TV point to which you can connect up to.

The site itself is well kept and is probably one of the most visually appealing Haven sites. Most of the paths and roads are tree lined. No litter problem and a lack of dogs is a bonus in my opinion.

Location of the site is about 3/4 of a mile from Burnham town. Burnham itself is a fairly typical small seaside town. A reasonably sized Morrisons can be found less than 10 mins walk from the site.

On site there was 3 fishing ponds (1 small for novices and 2 larger ones) all nicely kept and in pleasant surroundings.

One nice touch was that we often saw security patrolling around the site at all hours. The touring section is close to the main facilities including the show bar, yet noise was never an issue.

The negative points - on arrival the check-in / arrivals procedure is unclear. We were fortunate that we knew which pitch we were on (by prior arrangement) so were able to find our pitch without problem. However, for most check-ins you won't easily find the wardens office and have no obvious place to stop whilst you try to check-in.

For reference the wardens office is part of the toilet block which should be the first brick building you see on entering the touring area. Might sound a strange statement to make, but the amount of people we saw drive in, look around bemused, then drive around the site looking for help was considerable.

Some pitches are a little tight for space for me. Down side (being a miserable so-and-so as I keep being told!) was that the car is parked to the left of your caravan and is directly adjacent the next pitch. With an awning up there was only a couple of foot gap.

Quite a few people complained that the TV reception (even using the TV point on the pitches) was non-existent. The area is now digital only, so be warned. If you are using a satellite dish then check that you have a clear line of sight as the site has a lot of trees on it. Shouldn't be a big problem, but worth baring in mind.

The on site shop (even though it was a Spar) was overpriced and not overly well stocked. Even though it quotes a chip shop, there isn't one. Its been replaced by a Papa Johns (pizza) which is overpriced and poor quality. Previous experience kept us out of the Mash and Barrel.

More bins would be a help. The touring toilets and showers were acceptable. Look a bit dated and not in A1 shape, but acceptable.

The beach - very little sand and lots of mud! You are in an estuary which can make a walk on the beach down to the sea unsafe unless you observe the local warning signs. This is not a scare tactic and we had no problems so no need to be worried, just be careful.

We are a family of 2 adults and 1 young teenager. Would we go back? Yes. The walks along the sea road are pleasant. Burnham has sufficient facilities that are within walking distance to mean that you can ditch the car for a week if you want to. The site is generally a nice place to be on.

As a main two weeks holiday I don't think we would recommend it; long weekend its fine.

When we arrived we were greeted by very friendly reception staff and given our pitch numbers. However, when we arrived at the pitches, there were caravans that had lengthened their stays on them. The warden on the touring park was fantastic though and soon had the situation in hand and we were quickly settled.

The pitches were lovely and not cramped and the facilities were good. All the staff were friendly and tried to help in any way possible. A very enjoyable stay and we will be returning. Very good value for money as we took advantage of their special offers.

We spent 4 nights here just after the bank holiday. The site is very large with 90% of the site dedicated to static vans.

The touring area is small and out of the way which is nice. The pitches are a reasonable size, we had a hard standing with water and waste which was nice. There was a group BBQ area at the back of us which anyone could use, as it was not warm enough no one used it otherwise trying to get our two toddlers to sleep could have been a problem.

The facilities are ok, nothing to write home about but they do the job. Clean and warm showers.

Pool & play areas were great for the little ones (again it was out of season for us and quiet). The outdoor poor was closed not that we would have used it. Not exactly Spain.

We didn't try the bar or food on site as it including the shop was expensive compared to the new ASDA down the road. For example, batteries for the TV remote, £5 in the shop, £1 in ASDA.

Things that put is off and why we won't be returning.

1) You have to go though an arcade to get to the playground, outdoor and indoor pools. I had to walk my 3 yr old thought this area thinking I don't want to expose him to this and I have no choice.

2) Security, or lack of. We drove into the touring area without being stopped or asked anything (we did this as we didn't see the reception area). We found our pitch and just parked up. My wife then found the warden and he said fine, go to reception. No pass to get in, no signs in the windows of the car or van to explain we were visitors. Nothing, you could just drive in and park up no one would say anything. No sign of the warden after we found him for directions to the reception area.

Local areas, Burnham on sea beach looked nice, we did try a few castle building sessions but the wind got the better of us, too cold.

In Weston-S-Mare the sea life centre is good, worth using the Tesco vouchers for this (£1 to get in), then we went on the wheel outside, £11 for the 4 of us. Not bad.

Rest of Weston-S-Mare was a little run down. We decided to go back to the park when we walked into town and noticed Burtons, and the lap dancing club next door. Lol.

Just spent a weekend at this campsite with our 2 year old and had a great time.

The site is very close to the beach (about a five minute walk through the pedestrian access at the back of the site) and Burnham is a short walk away. It is about ten minutes walk (with a 2 year old!) to Morrisons and the rest of the local shops. The walk down to the town is very safe as it down the wide esplanade.

Only downside about the location is that the beach has a lot of mud flats mud on it being so close to the estuary and so there are only small areas of decent sandcastle sand.

On site there is a very reasonably priced pub, just general pub grub, but the three of us ate for around £25 which we thought was very reasonable.

The pool was good fun but beware, it closes 15 minutes before the advertised closing time which they didn't tell us until we arrived at the pool.

Although we didn't use the facilities for older children, they were all very reasonably priced and most definitely wouldn't break the bank.

The touring section was in the heart of everything but didn't keep you awake at night. The pitches were very large but not brilliantly marked as some of chippings for the caravan areas were fading away. The people next to us seemed to think that theirs contained enough space for two cars, two large tents, a kickabout area and a windbreak and weren't impressed when they realised that we actually needed some of our pitch!

It's worth looking out for some of the late deals as we only paid £9 a night and that went down to £6 a night a few days before we were due to go.

This is a site that we will definitely return to.

At last, a Haven site that doesn't put the tourers at the back end of beyond! Although not the biggest of the Haven parks and therefore less facilities than somewhere like Primrose Valley, the location and the touring facilities makes this our favourite Haven site so far. The touring park is literally a stone's throw from the 'Funworks' entertainment area but this didn't cause any problems re noise etc. The touring area has a variety of pitches ranging from non EHU, EHU and fully serviced with hard standing. The one way system meanders around this well sheltered and wooded site and all pitches are clearly numbered and quite spacious for Haven. We managed to fit our Monty 6 with extension and windbreak along with car and trailer and still had plenty of room to spare. The toilet blocks were clean and modern although only 4 showers in the ladies and 6 toilets plus family/disabled facilities. Hubby commented on the fact that loo roll availability was a constant issue in the gents but not a problem for us girls. We never had to queue for toilets or showers so I'd say the facilities were adequate for the size of site. We had a fair bit of rain but the ground didn't suffer from waterlogging, however, it is rock hard and we bent a number of metal pegs and even the deltas were grumbling. Getting the ground to return them to you upon departure was another thing entirely so take some muscle with you. Security were ever present and when there was a noise issue from a tent hosting their own disco (yes, including flashing lights!) they were on the case within 10 minutes of it starting and knocked it on the head. They even came back later to check which I thought was impressive. The proximity to the beach was literally about 800 yards from the touring pitches and no huge cliffs to contend with so an easy walk and disabled access isn't an issue. The beach there though looks more like an estuary so not overly glamorous and the local council repeatedly warns of dangerous sinking sand at low tide but if all your little ones want is somewhere to dig a sandcastle then bingo! Burnham on sea is a short 10 minute walk along the prom which runs to the rear of the park.

On site facilities include a shop & a chippy as well as the usual Haven club/amusement arcade. The entertainment was great and the kids loved it.

In the local area there is a great camping shop to get a camping fix as well as an ASDA & Morrisons for less overpriced supplies. Wookey Hole and Cheddar Gorge are both a pleasant drive as well as Weston super mare. The site benefits from it location to the M5/A38 and is only three miles approx from these so handy if you want a straight run.

The only negative issues for us was the lack of loo roll in the gents and how hard the ground was which in the grand scheme of things is nothing really and this certainly wouldn't stop us going again. This ranks as my favourite Haven site for tents (Primrose Valley don't take tents otherwise they'd win hands down)and we'd definitely be going back again soon. Excellent, can highly recommend it. I only gave the site facilities 9/10 simply because the entertainment complex isn't as impressive as some Haven sites but the touring park deserves 10/10 definitely.

Just returned from a week at the Burnham Holiday Village. We had originally booked to take our tent but have recently invested in our first van and were able to change our reservation at no extra cost.

Our grassy pitch on arrival was in not bad condition considering the heavy rain the area had had on the previous two days, however other pitches were muddy and waterlogged, a problem that the whole touring area seemed to suffer with once the heaven's opened.

Because of the muddy nature of the site, the showers and toilet area could have been cleaner and I only saw a cleaner there once during the whole week. There are just 4 showers and 6 toilets in the ladies which I thought would mean long queues but actually this never happened.

We saw no evidence of the rat problem mentioned in a previous post, however our neighbour said she saw one. The biggest problems were the seagulls, one made its way into our awning to have a go at our bin!

The new touring warden went out of his way to make our holiday a good experience. He had been in his role for only a few weeks but was local to the area and was very helpful. He even drove round to wish us a safe journey on the way home, which I thought was a nice touch.

The touring area is quite nicely situated close to the park's entertainment area, there's a bit of a walk to the two main fishing lakes but there is a smaller lake nearby. However, we didn't truly take advantage of the sites facilities, the entertainment team were enthusiastic but the cabarets did leave a lot to be desired. We chose instead to walk along the seafront (the back entrance to the site was not far from the touring area) into Burnham itself, which had a huge variety of family pubs, restaurants and bakers, and our daughters loved to scooter along and play on the beach.

Loads to do in the area and would definitely return.

Just spent a week at this site, overall we were very pleased. When we arrived we found the pitch water-logged and was told by reception that the pitches were fully booked that week (although we found that didn't seem to be the case as the week went on), however, we met the touring warden who was very helpful, a really lovely man, he filled in the puddles with sand and then gave us some mats to put down around the opening of the tent, he couldn't do enough for us. The pitch was big and roomy, we had the end one so didn't feel overlooked at all. The shower block was never busy, the showers were warm and clean and FREE, the hairdryers were also free to use. The entertainment was your typical holiday camp style (why do they have to speak in that stupid voice?) but the kids loved it. Swimming was in timed sessions which is only fair to give everyone a chance to use the indoor pool. The shop was very expensive but with Asda just down the road we didn't use it much. This is the first time I have camped at Haven but have been to various different Havens caravanning, I must say this is one of my favourites, just the right size. The lake is lovely, the kids enjoyed feeding the ducklings and cygnets and we woke every morning to a swan and her cygnets padding past the tent - so cute. There is a lovely park a short walk away (ask the warden how to get there).
