This is camping at its most basic and best. We had a horrendous 10 days in the wind and rain but we would never have stuck it out so long if it hadn't been for this magical campsite.
Our kids LOVED Noongalas and these are the reasons why;
The crash mats on site (what would we have done without them?) - a truly inspired choice of (all weather) playground equipment.
The woods - magical, fairytale woods, all beech trees and mossy rocks and fallen logs and the sun (when it came out) spilling through the canopy.
The stream - clear and coke coloured running through the wood, shallow enough for kids to paddle in and fast enough for pooh sticks.
The rope swings in the woods (great for kids, NOT for mothers who think they are still young enough to hurl themselves into an abyss on the end of a piece of rope.)
The campfires - great for building, toasting marshmallows, baking potatoes and poking with sticks.
For the grown ups there are;
The campfires - warm to sit round once everything is done and the kids in bed (or even when they are not).
The barn - whenever the weather was particularly awful (many days when we were there) there is a wood burner and chairs so you can dry/chill out.
The live music - we had local musicians come and perform in the barn on 2 nights while we were there which was wonderful. This happens a lot apparently, and if you're any good at singing, playing an instrument etc bring your talent camping and entertain the other campers.
The owners and staff - such friendly, kind, laid back people who are always helpful. We got given a beer when we'd put up our tent which was very welcome and on the day of the worst weather, John had laid on free beers in the barn to cheer us all up.
What other campsite can give you all these things?

If you want a real camping experience; a touch of the wild, streams, woodland, hedgerows, friendly folk in fewer numbers, clear night skies, then Noongallas must be the place for you. All of the above is here as fairly basic but spotless facilities are provided. One day the shower stopped working in the men's and was replaced the same day - I was gobsmacked to be honest.
John and Kay, the owners pretty much let you have an easy going time here but seem genuinely eager to please. Joe and Teegan, the onsite staff couldn't be more helpful if you could inject industriousness - absolutely great. And they even gave me a beer on arrival and came to help me erect my tent without me having to ask.
A get together happened most nights, with invitations to all, which added to the atmosphere without adding to the noise level - we only joined in once, preferring early nights, but had a great time with the others.
Will be going back.

Noongallas, our idea of paradise! Pitches that aren't overlooked, beautiful wild surroundings, no-one barking rules at you and freedom to roam around at your leisure.
The facilities are basic, very basic, so you cannot help but be 'intimate' with your fellow campers by the end of a weeks stay, but that is what makes this one of the friendliest sites we have ever stayed in! If you are looking for a site that is 'neat', regimented and action packed this is not the place for you! However, if you want a true break from all the constraints and pretense of work and life back home this is the ideal getaway. Here you make your own entertainment, with the help of the numerous friends you can make during your stay,'Brandy coffees around the campfire' and inpromptu birthday partys in the barn. As for John and Kay (the owners), Tegan, Joseph & Chantelle (helpers)by the end of a week they felt like family that you hated leaving!

Although the location of this campsite is brilliant with Penzance waterfront just a 10 minute drive away and St Ives less than half an hour away the camp site is far from luxurious. To get to the camp site is difficult enough with winding one track roads and then a muddy narrow track down to the site itself.
The country views from the site are lovely with plenty of tumbling fields and distant old tin factories on the horizon. The shower and toilet blocks are incredibly basic (breeze block walls with plastic corrogated roof) which isn't the be all and end all of a camping trip however they were not cleaned once during our week stay which is highly dissappointing.
A fridge and kettle are provided for campers but they are situated in the ladies toilet/shower room so men cannot really access this area.
Despite this we had a lovely week in Cornwall but have said that if we were to visit this area again we would stay in another camp site.

The very best campsite we've ever stayed in and we've stayed in a great many!Surrounding countryside is beautiful and it is very close to Gulval with pubs, supermarket etc. And within easy drive of magnificent beaches. The owners are incredibly friendly, welcoming and helpful. The site is basic but that's the way we love it and we would hate it to change. We felt so at home and relaxed there. The other campers were wonderful but we suspect that the warm and friendly atmosphere is all as a result of the owner's wonderful attitude which just seems to rub off on everyone else. We were only there for 4 days and left with heavy hearts when every last item of bedding and clothing was wet. Even the rain didn't dent our spirits and had we anything dry, we would have stayed longer. On two nights there was fantastic music in the barn. We can't wait to return and are praying for good weather for October half-term. Have a sneaking feeling that this is the only campsite we'll be staying at from now on despite the long drive from London. Can't recommend it highly enough.

Spent two weeks at this great site in mostly lashing rain and strong winds. Thanks to the provision of a barn to retreat to it did'nt matter, although our tent would say other wise if it could speak and our gazebo died. The site is on top of a valley so if it is windy, it is very windy.
Owners John and Kay made our stay very welcome, we didn't want to leave. Also Paul, the site manager was very friendly and helpful. Facilities were basic but always kept clean, all we needed really.
Lovely walks locally and the woods and stream down the bottom of the fields are lovely. Our dog enjoyed the walks.
The kids, two boys,aged 9 & 11, had a wonderful time, exploring and making friends. The jump mats provided were a bonus.
It was great being able to have a camp fire, weather permitting of course, and logs are available at a reasonable cost. When it was wet Paul got the stove going in the barn.
Great site for musicians as there was all sorts, ourselves included and many a good jam was had in the barn and round the camp fire.
Can't wait to return!

On our coastal path walk, this was probably the best campsite we stayed at. It is a few km in from the coast but, exhausted though we were, it was perfect.
The pitches are on terraced fields with long grass between terraces. This gives a flat pitch with a wonderful view and a degree of privacy.
The shower and toilet block is refreshingly clean and new. The showers are even spacious.
A wonderful campsite

We stayed for one night at Noongallas and wished it was longer. we spent the evening sitting in a quiet field around a campfire. It was heaven a complete get away. There was no probs with getting us in they always find you somewhere. Owners were very helpful. Only facilities are toilets, showers, kettle, dish washing area, water point which makes it very relaxing. It is great to go somewhere totally different and so relaxed in their camping outlook, they didn't even care what time we left the next day, so we had a relaxing breakfast overlooking fields. Fantastic and we will return very soon.

Just a very brief review to confirm that Noongallas is still just as good as in previous reviews. Lovely relaxed atmosphere. Hardly any campsite rules, just "Camp fires good; bonfires bad" and "Don't drive too fast down the lane". The whole place relies on the common sense of their visitors. John & Kay actually trust people to behave responsibly and (fairly) sensibly, and that trust is repaid. I've never met a more friendly and helpful set of fellow campers. The site got off fairly lightly with the heavy rain during the previous 3 months (!). There were some problems driving cars up the grassy slopes, and some mud by the field gate, but it's a well drained sloping site. The highlight was probably the Monday night, when there was a bit of a party, and a local ska & reggae band (Primeskandal) played a great set. Kay was handing out homity pies, and many a beer was sunk. Everybody was on their feet & skanking. Then back to the tent to sit round the fire and a glass or two before bed as the stars came out. Magic.

After getting stuck in traffic and arriving after a 10 hour drive, this campsite was well worth it! We were shown around and then given the chance to look around to choose our pitch. All of the pitches were level, so we were spoilt for choice. The facilities are clean and there is a good power shower. The fridge/freezer and kettle are a great idea too. There were spare body boards in a barn too, so we were grateful to borrow these for a day on the beach. It was absolutely wonderful to sit round the campfire at night and we also enjoyed the company of an old mild-mannered sheepdog, who adopted us during our stay. My step-son is usually frightened of dogs, but even he was won over! There were large gym mats for the kids to play on, which kept them entertained for hours. The beautiful woods at the bottom of the fields were lovely for an evening walk, and provided the opportunity to climb trees. After being rained out of our tent, we decided to pack up due to the puddles, and were sad at the prospect of leaving. However, one of the apartments was empty, so John gave us the option of staying. The apartment was perfect - clean, comfy beds, great furniture, bed linen, towels and kitchen equipment was provided. The only negative: the smoke detector sounded as soon as the oven door was opened, so we had to take the batteries out while cooking - but this a small price to pay for a great stay. One night, John and Kay had arranged for a band to play in the barn, which unfortunately was cancelled due to the weather. They still welcomed everybody to the barn with drinks and pies. This meant we had the opportunity to get to know our fellow campers, so could still enjoy their company and campfires the following evenings. My step-son had never camped before and absolutely loved this experience. I have been camping all over the country and abroad since childhood and would say this is by far the best campsite! We will definitely be back and hope to make it a yearly retreat.
