First visit to Cornwall. This was the first camp site I looked at on this site and was immediately drawn to it. I phoned and asked about reservations and was told 'just turn up, we'll fit you in somewhere'. Absolutely perfect (even after a 6 hour drive from Manchester) Campsite is perfectly located in my opinion, hosts are absolutely perfect, facilities are basic (but that's what camping is about), site was extremely quiet and tranquil. Will I return? Definitely! Would I recommend it? Absolutely! Thanks to Kay & John for a truly memorable first time in Cornwall.

THE BEST CAMPSITE WE HAVE EVER STAYED AT! Most of my comments would reiterate most of what has already been said, but I cannot stress enough how enjoyable our stay was. Such a shame it was only for 2 nights. The cold beers upon arrival are no word of a lie, and the hospitality in general could not be faulted. The basic facilities were stretched a little as the campsite was busy, but we had no trouble. There was even a kettle for tea in the morning - perfect as we only had a BBQ for cooking. On the whole, I would have to say that this is the perfect camp site, from the location (isolated, but only two mile from town), the scenery (rolling Cornish countryside), and the hospitality (as mentioned). Furthermore, there were many nice touches that made this site truly unique and enjoyable such as the stone circles laid on each pitch for your camp fire. How refreshing to be encouraged to have fires! (sacks of logs can be purchased for £3, and kindling can be found around the site or bring your own). Although the site is a reasonable size, it is divided into different sections so a choice of pitch is available. As we were looking for a small, secluded pitch, we found one that was almost completely private, though larger groups could be accommodated. Although the site is on a slope, the pitches are all terraced so flat ground is guaranteed. The site attracted a wide mix of people from families to hippie-types and all seemed really friendly, though families expecting an immaculate holiday-park-style site and facilities with perfect peace and quiet at night will be disappointed. We will certainly be going back when we can, and probably will for years to come.

My partner and I and our extended family of 5 kids have just returned from a 5 day break at Noongallas. We found the owners John and Kay very friendly and the camp site incredibly relaxed. We already hated the normal run of the mill campsites with allocated 'plots', concrete roads, streams of campers walking past tents to get to shop/club house/bar/huge toilet or shower block etc. At Noongallas you get what we would call and LOVE 'traditional camping', peace, lots of space, basic (but VERY clean and cute) shower, toilets, washing up area. The views are magnificent, the location an excellent base for some of the finest beaches and coves including Porth Curno and Treen and handy for Penzance just incase u need food, shopping etc. There is also a MAGICAL walk along a stream and through the woods at the bottom of the fields. My kids adored the adventures down there and so did my partner and I :) Not only was it a break from the hot sun that we were so lucky to have through out our stay, but if it had of been raining, we would of been able to explore and play whilst protected from the elements. We would recommend this site to anyone who doesn't NEED to be entertained and who loves to get away from the rat race of life. Oh and by the way. The shower was LOVELY, the water always HOT, the collies, cockrals etc cute and the use of a fridge/freezer and electric socket in the toilet a greatly appreciated luxury :)

Excellent campsite!
Very welcoming owners (free beers, a lift, they made a curry for us all, let us watch the World Cup) and a very beautiful location. I would recommend this campsite to anyone going to Penzance camping. It is 2 miles along a narrow track, which is a beautiful walk when walking back at 1am and all the stars are out.
If you want a proper camp, and not some beefed up campsite with swimming pools and the like then this is the place to come!

August 2005 My family and I have just returned from Noongallas which is a 2 mile drive up a narrow track and the only views are those of the beautiful unspoilt Cornish countryside. The showers / toilets and washing facilities are basic but always clean, there are no caravans or electrical hook-ups and the campsite is terraced so the tent pitches are flat. When we were looking for campsites, the last thing we wanted was a "POW holiday camp" style of campsite with swimming pools, bars, shops and perimeter fences etc. Instead we searched for the more traditional style of campsite and Noongallas more than exceeded all our expectations. In the evening, the only sound was that of quiet singing round the various campfires, when we went to bed we could quite often see the warm glow of distant campfires flickering through the tent walls and in the morning there were usually chickens clucking round the outside of our tent. What more could any camper want?
The owners were very friendly and helpful and one evening we arrived back at the campsite looking rather dehydrated after a day out and they gave us some free beers. Our children had a great time too, playing with other children in the picturesque woods at the bottom of the campsite and we were having such a great time that we even extended our trip.
If you sometimes feel that this beautiful country of ours is becoming ever more spoiled by man made concrete constructions and you just want to get away from it for a while to enjoy some unspoilt countryside, then I think Noongallas might be the campsite for you.

August 2005 Have spent 10 lovely days at this very traditional style campsite. The location is fantastic and the basic facilities actually add to the charm. It has been a step back in time for our children, who have never before built or cooked on an open fire. The atmosphere is very friendly, and the environment safe for younger children. My kids were enthralled by the baby chicks roaming around the fields, not to mention the singing cockeral and local collie dogs. The site is located almost in the middle of nowhere, but with transport fantastic beaches were easily accessible within 10 to 30 minutes away. We will remember this site with great affection, and hope to return next year. The only thing now is that the more modern sites have now lost their appeal, and I'm not sure if I'll be so enthusiastic about them again!!

June 2005 Quite possibly the best campsite ever! A real antidote to crowded noisy sites with clubhouses.
The facilities are adequate if a little bizarrely constructed and the approach road is very narrow and badly surfaced
However the sheer beauty of the site and surrounding woodlands, the laidback friendly owners (we have been twice and have always recieved a beer on arrival)and the campfires makes for a truly brilliant get away. You feel a lot further away from penzance than the rather conveinent 3miles that you actually are.

August 2005 EXCELLENT CAMP SITE!! If you don't like things too commercial and appreciate fine views of the countryside, campfires and a friendly atmosphere this site is ideal. The owner is very friendly and makes you feel like you are his guest.
Although the website says it it is not near anything it is only a couple of miles to a large 24 hour Tesco supermarked, very handy when your camping. Also Penzance is only a couple of miles away and St Ives about 6 miles away straight down the B3311

May 2005 We wanted a quiet, relaxing, remote campsite and we certainly got it with this. After a steep climb up a very very narrow and bumpy road we arrived at the hillside camping fields of John and Kay. They both introduced themselves to us personally and offered us beer. Great service! Campfires are allowed and wood is available for just £2 a bag. It is conveniently located (provided you have a car!) for Penzance, St Michael's Mount, St Ives and the excellent Minack Theatre. The showers and toilets were clean with soap and toilet roll provided, but just one shower for men and one for women, which I would imagine may create queues when the campsite is full. On the whole, our only major criticism would be the lack of washing up facilities, but having said that we would certainly visit this campsite again.

May 2005 I am doing an update on my previous review having visited Noongallas recently. I still cannot express strongly enough just how good this camp site really is please see my prior review. Now the owners have made things even better by building a new toilet and shower block with full washing up facilities. This is to me the best campsite in cornwall, real campfires and live music (if you or your friends make it) a site that welcomes music of all kinds, instruments welcome. a real campfire summers night and good friends what on this earth could be better.
