Stayed overnight here last Friday. It was my son's birthday & his fiancee had booked for them to go for the weekend. I decided at the last minute to join them & go for a meal in York together.
As it was just me in my tent they only charged me £5 despite it being a 4-5 berth and it was great to be allowed to choose where to pitch. It was a lovely & peaceful place with all the facilities we needed.
As I only live an hour away & had to get home early on Saturday I'd intended to shower on getting home, but on waking early I used the on site one which had plenty of hot water and room to change too
It's a shame there's only the one shower in the ladies as I suspect there could be a queue sometimes.

Our second visit here. Really nice site with very friendly owners. They lent us some tent pegs - when we realised we hadn't got enough. Only a short ride into York (and the races).
We find going back onto the A64 is the quicker route and a huge Tesco's is just on the edge of the town is a must for last minute forgotten things or a top up of wine/beer. On site the toilets and shower area always clean and tidy (even if a little dated).
Washing up area is always fresh with liquid etc left out for use. Great value for money. We had ehu. 2 nights with small tent. Just about a mile or so away is Naburn Lock. Very pretty and nice pub with great food.

Chose this as the site for our 'maiden voyage'. Me, my son and Sally the dog had a lovely time.
On arrival, we were shown which field to pitch in and basically told we could choose whichever area we wanted. We chose an area to the side, by the field and must say it was lovely. Really peaceful. Managed to pitch and to be totally organised within a couple of hours, then was time to relax- to be honest, didn't stop relaxing until it was time to pack away!
Clean, tidy site. Plenty of recycle points and water taps/loos not too far. Toilets (3) shower (1) (Ladies) basic but clean and nice clean indoor area to wash up. Never had to queue for either.Plenty of fields and outdoor space for kids to disappear for hours on end and miles of walking for dog lovers. Owners are very friendly and helpful as well.
All in all, wonderful site to visit and will no doubt be back again this year.

Booked this campsite on the Thursday night after a last minute decision to go away for the weekend. Read the reviews saying the ground was slopey after booking so was a bit worried as we have a large tent. When we got there we got a flat part of the field only problem was we didn't realise that the wooden frame right next to us was the football goal (next time we have to notice these things as we could have pitched about a metre more to the left).
The owners were really friendly and helpful showing us everything we needed, and even helping and giving us washing up liquid when we realised we had forgotten ours.
The thing that really impressed me was the fact that they only take a limited number of people so you don't have to queue for the toilets. The water was always hot to the point that you had to use the plug so as not to burn your hands.
It is a working farm so there are cows on the approach and it is only a single track when you turn of the main road, but you can see all the way down and the kids loved it when the cows were walking next to the car.
All in all it was a really nice site would definitely go back and recommend it.

This is a little gem of a site, in a lovely location - with cows in the next field with a river running along the bottom. I think we paid £12 per night including electric - which was great value for money.
Whilst facilities were basic and quite old, they were very clean.
The owners were very friendly and helpful.
This site is very well located for getting into York - both by bus(main road at site entrance) and cycle (local route into York nearby).
I would definitely use again if I return to York.

Stayed on this site for two nights after not being able to get on the Naburn lock site. This site is basic, no shop, not many facilities but the surroundings, the nice folks that run the place and the cost make up for it and then some. When we arrived as I said after not getting on Naburn, the daughter of the owner was very helpful indeed. Plus the owner Gordon gave the pitch a quick mow before we parked up. The best way to get into York is by bus at the end of the lane that comes into the site and a family ticket is only £8. York is a fantastic place and we will be going back here!

We have stayed at this campsite many times it is a wonderful place to stay. The owners are friendly, toilets are a bit basic but you don't mind when your only paying £12.00 per night. The site is a working farm so you have cows in the field at the side of you. I would say for a cheepy it is a great little getaway and would recommend it to anyone well worth a visit.

Just got back from this site on our first visit to Yorkshire and wanted to say how much we liked it. The non EHU field was flooded when we arrived so we pitched up with the caravans. The site is quiet, rural and very peaceful. The owner was extremely friendly and helpful and came to see if we needed any help pitching. Others have detailed the site's facilities and I can only agree that we didn't need to queue and the toilets/shower were very clean.
I would agree that it's wise to use the Park and Ride into York. £2.30 per person which is much cheaper than where I live. There's a giant Tesco about 10 minutes drive away and a small Sainsbury's next to an Aldi on the road into York so it's easy to get supplies.
The farmer has made an effort to recycle absolutely everything that he can which is a bonus.
The Blacksmith's Arms in Naburn serves excellent food. I can especially recommend the chickpea and quorn salad. Not many places offer interesting food for vegetarians so well done. We'll definitely be going back there.

Great site in good location. Beautiful site, lovely views, lots of trees etc. Good space for pitching tents - mostly flat and nice grass.
Facilities - toilets and shower very clean, fresh handtowels regularly. Only one shower cubicle in ladies which was a little bit narrow, but always very clean, which is the most important thing for me! I never queued the whole time I was there, even though it was quite busy. Friendly owners too.
Good washing up space, hot water. Also really good tourist information leaflets, books and toys which could be borrowed. Also a freezer for refreezing ice packs etc which was really useful as it was hot while we were there!
Location is great for anyone who enjoys cycling. We took our bikes and enjoyed the 6 mile cycle into York each day - there is an excellent cycleway very near by, so you hardly have to cycle on road at all. The cycleway is also very scenic at points. Using the cycles saved us a packet on park and ride! Nearby designer outlet also surprisingly good (I'm not a big fan of shopping).
Felt very friendly and like a home from home, probably partly because weather was good!
Nice swings etc for kids, as well as plenty of space to play.
Lovely walks from the site too, saw a lapwing and its chick which was a first for me.
All in all a very good site - which we will definitely return to.

This was our second visit this year and what a lovely place we have found. Quiet surroundings in a reasonably small field suitable for tents and caravans. Pitch fees for a family tent (4berth) are £10 p/nt, very good value when you consider some other sites and what they have to offer.
Here at Home Farm there are 5 toilets and 1 shower (ladies), obviously not too sure about the mens but do know they have only 1 shower as well. No queues though as never over busy. Showers are free with plenty of hot water. 2 wash basins in the ladies as well with a large mirror and plug sockets for hairdryers/straighteners etc. The washing up spot consists of 1 sink with free washing up liquid and cloths and bowel all available although we always have our own, just in case.
There is a nice little reception area where you can borrow books, mags, toys, games, info leaflets about the area as well as sit on one of the small, old but comfy sofas while you do.
The farm itself is quite secluded with no shop on site but it's close enough to York/Selby where you can stock up. It's a good half hour walk along the main road (with no footpath in some parts) to the nearest pub. We visited Blacksmith Arms in Naburn which was lovely, great atmosphere, good food and drink but very slow service, only 1 person working with about 20 people waiting to be served. Still we were in no rush and enjoyed it very much. There is also a very nice beer garden out the back which you'd miss if you drove past.
We love this spot and will definitely be coming back, we've already booked for August for our 3rd trip and can't wait. This campsite is perfect if you've got everything you need with you and simply want a nice peaceful setting with beautiful views across the fields. The cows can be a bit frisky and they certainly kept us entertained with their antics on our last morning! Bird watching is fabulous here as well although you'll pay for it in the summer months at about 4am so earplugs are recommended for light sleepers! Fabulous place, can't recommend this site enough!
