Stayed here for 2 nights. Nice little site, with very easy access to York and the surrounding area. Mostly caravanners there due to it being rather cold, we had one other person camping next to us. Very quiet with lovely view of the area (but windy though) with very reasonable pitch prices £12 per nite with EHU. I don't think the owners take cards so you have to pay by cash and pay at the end of your trip. Toilets are adequate and clean, males has one shower so could be a queue when it is busy in the summer months. Just remember this place is a working farm as well.

Lovely little site, the owners were welcoming and flexible and only £12 per night.
Basic but clean facilities, and only 1 washing up sink but no real problem as not huge numbers there. Kids enjoyed tree swing, making dens around the site and playing on the nearby hay bails. Quite rural which suited us but if you are wanting a shop on site or places on your doorstep probably not the site for you although york and nearby villages only a short drive away.
Very peaceful and relaxing, would like to go back

Just come back from a further two weeks at this site from the 26th of July onwards (see also previous review for October 07 visit).
As before, it's a fab site if you don't want the all singing, all dancing sites that charge with the aid of a shopping list, and high/mid/low/bank holiday type pricing. £12 per night all year round for caravans and includes hook up, awning, kids and dogs.
There was a three hook up point put into the tent field when we were there (none previously), and there were also three large tents on the caravan field at different times too, I think this was before the hook up was installed.
Only had to queue twice for a shower, and then only for about 5 minutes each time. Gordon & Jen were as helpful and hospitable as ever, nothing is too much trouble. Even used the family washing machine, for a small donation towards electric bill, when I asked where the nearest launderette was!
As well as good for bargains, the outlet centre mentioned in other reviews is also the closest park and ride site for York centre. £2.30 per adult return, with kids under 16 free. Selby is also close by (6 miles from campsite), and the abbey is lovely. Go into the local library for details of local walks and historical sites. Also the swimming centre is a good size with flumes, etc and is cheaper than the one at Monks Cross in York.

Stayed at the site for 2 nights it was fantastic. We didn't see much of the owners in fact we had to go and search for him on the last day to pay for our pitch. The facilities are basic but clean and tidy there was always hot running water and the shower was brilliant.
We went to the Blacksmiths Arms in Naburn on both nights and had meals there it was a good atmosphere.
If you decide to go to York you are better off using the bus we drove there and the one way system is a nightmare.
The only thing that I would criticise is the field it is well in need of mowing as the grass is getting too long but that is my only complaint and we shall definitely go back.
The log cabins look fantastic.!

Just returned from 5 night stay at Home Farm.Originally booked pitch with no EHU, as none available but when we arrived we were told we could choose out out three EHU pitches (the owner was extremely helpful during phone conversations). Being quite new to camping we choose the flattest one in the field where most of the seasonal caravan owners had their vans (though I would say approx 1/2 were holiday visitor pitches). This was really good. The two nearest neighbours (who were there for the 1st and 2nd nights) gave us really useful info on the area and a cup of tea whilst we put up our tent.
Subsequent arrivals in this small field were also friendly and our daughter had great fun playing with children of varying ages under 10, no children at the time of our visit of our son's age (13) but he still enjoyed a game of football and cricket with his dad, another dad and the other younger children.
Owner very obliging, lent my husband electric drill and screwdrivers to open our topbox (the keys were enjoying their holiday at home!).
Drinking water tap right opposite our pitch.
Close to toilets.Shower/washing up/reception (all at the farmhouse). All facilities clean.
Loved the books/toys/comfortable chairs in reception.
Beautiful clear sky and big stars 1st night at 11.30pm I was really struck by them and we live in a rural area, but I could still find my way to toilet without a torch (though dark not pitch black when we stayed)
Overall friendly, relaxed, quiet site (children able to play games but ALL well behaved) in good location for York. I felt at home at Home Farm.

We have visited this site regularly for over 20 years. It is almost like a second home to us. The owner and his daughters are second to none in offering help and assistance where needed. Nothing is too much trouble to them. However, it must be remembered that this is a working farm and any help offered is actually a bonus to the camper. Nobody can expect that the owners will automatically help you if you are struggling. The very essence of caravanning is to sort your own problems out - grateful for any help offered.
I recently arrived at the farm without my battery. Yes, I know - I should have known better. The site owner kindly offered to charge up one of his own batteries and then lent it to us at no cost. (We hadn't booked an electric hook up). Towels are provided, it's your choice whether you use them or not. Soap is also usually provided, together with washing up liquid on most occasions. (Where else do you get that!).
The showers are free and the toilet and washing up areas are cleaned regularly. There's several childrens games and a well stocked bookshelf (any donations go to charity).
The grass is regularly cut, however, I would not expect it to be 'cut' (i.E. Mashed) when it is wet through. I would prefer to have long wet grass to walk over than pick up wet grass clippings and walk them into my 'van. Wellingtons are a caravanners essential item.
I will return regularly to this site until I am too old to caravan.

The site was fantastic. We have just spent almost two weeks there and I can't complain about anything other than the weather.
The owners, Gordon & Jennifer are really friendly and ever so nice. The other visitors on the site were really friendly and everyone got on with each other.
The facilities are great.Clean toilets and shower, washing up sink (which I had to queue for, but book a B&B if you don't like it!).
The site itself is next to the farmhouse with lots of wide open fields to walk in and have time to yourself
Our son Jack loved watching Gordon on his tractor and even helped Gordon feed the cows.
Our stay was fantastic & we shall be back on a regular basis. We want to tell our friends about it, but we also want to keep it a secret so nobody will spoil it.
If you want a nice break away with no hassle and some peace and quiet then this site is for you.
Highly Recommended

Just spent two nights here and although it’s not my type of site, I can see why people like it. It’s on a farm with lots of cows, in the middle of green fields so it’s very peaceful with lovely views. It’s only £12 per night with no extra charges and I know there are lots of people that love this type of site, just not me.
We were sited under two huge trees so even when we did see some sun we didn’t get any to sit in it as the trees kept us totally shaded.
The electricity couldn’t run our two burner electric hob which we have always run with no problems before. The guy checked it as it kept tripping every two minutes but he said the power wasn’t there to run it. It did this also with the microwave with nothing else plugged in. We gave up trying to cook in the end and ate out which isn't really what we wanted to do.
There are 4 toilets in the ladies, 1 shower and 2 large sinks. They are kept very clean and well supplied. The shower had room to change in but it wasn’t very wide, I would worry if I was a bit fatter. I also rushed as I was aware there was only one and there would be others wanting to use it.
They don’t have a hand dryer or paper towels so there are regular towels to dry your hands which I didn’t like, I left them to dry naturally as I don’t like the thought of sharing towels with others.
There are lots of long stays on the site who all use the facilities also.
There is one washing up sink which is large and handy to use but there was often people there when we wanted to use it so we had to wait. The sink is in a room with a box of toys which is helpful with kids as my little boy was kept entertained while I did the washing up.
There are books to borrow and lots of info leaflets for the local area.
The park consists of two old swings and a little plastic slide. The chemical disposal is right next to them which I didn’t like so my son couldn’t play there in his own as he would have been curious as to the drains and the large toilet brush just left in a water filled tray.
The grass hadn’t been cut for ages so every time you went to the toilet your feet and trouser bottoms got soaked.
The regulars arrived on the Friday and all got together for a drink but were all in bed and quiet by 10.30. They all respect the site and others there.
It does say keep dogs on a lead which everyone did but there was one dog tied up outside someone’s caravan that barked every few minutes if a gust of wind dared pass by! Very annoying.
On the last day the wind was blowing a gale and we struggled to get the awning down. It nearly lifted me of my feet at one point. There was me, who is 5 months pregnant and my parents who are both in their mid 60’s and it took over 30 minutes of fighting with the awning before a fellow camper came to help. When we left the girl at reception said they’d been watching us strugling and felt sorry for us! but nobody came to help, very odd.
The site was okay but I wish we’d stayed at the Naburn Lock site just up the road, much more my cup of tea!

We stayed here for 7 nights during half term and loved every minute. We took our Vermont XL which was accepted with no problem and at no extra charge.
Access to the farm is down a narrow drive, so beware if you meet someone coming towards you as there is no place to pass except at the top or bottom of the drive. Saying that it isn`t much of a problem.
We had no problem with the EHU, nothing tripped so I can only assume any problems have been sorted.
The showers are hot and free and even though there is only shower in the ladies and I assume one in the mens as well, I only had to queue once and that wasn`t for long. The showers and toilets are always clean no matter what time of day you go.
One sink indoors near Reception for washing up, but water was always hot and plentiful. You can also use the freezer which is round the side of the Ladies, in the shed, free of charge which is handy for ice blocks etc.
In Reception are books you can borrow, toys for children to borrow, such as football etc. and plenty of information and leaflets on the local area.
Although a lot of people on site seem to be seasonal, we found everyone to be friendly, especially the family that own the site, they really couldn`t be more helpful.
It is a nice, short walk down to the river and if you keep your eyes peeled you can see the squirrels that live round the farm. We saw three which the kids thought was great.
York city centre is about a ten minute drive and on the way you pass through Fulford, where you can find an Aldi and an Iceland and slightly further up if you take the right turn signposted Hospital you will find a large Morrisons.
In the other direction you will find a Designer Outlet which is well worth a visit and we got a few good bargains in the sports shops. Upstairs there is a large Food Court serving anything from sandwiches, jacket potatoes, to pizzas and burgers
There is a pub about five minutes drive away from the site at Naburn, I think it`s called the Blacksmiths, which did a lovely steak buffet on the Sunday night. You pay £7.95 for the steak which is cooked to your liking on the BBQ and you can then help yourself to as much as you like from the buffet, which consists of salad, onion rings, tomatoes, peas, fried eggs, chips etc etc. We thought it was very good value and it seemed to be really popular so get there early! Families are made welcome and the owners were very friendly.
All in all we loved this site and we will definitely return.

One of our quick weekend escape sites and half an hour from home. We have used it for several years and probably 20 visits there. Family site, and a working farm - well away from the road and unatural light. So extremely pieceful, all you hear is the noises of nature. Access is down a long single track road, so you need to make sure you don't meet another vehicle mid way. Dogs under control welcome.
Free good shower, all included even a donation library. Extremely friendly owners. The part of the site nearest the river is quite sloping. Hook up seems to be limited to less than the usual amps. The owners indicated there had been one or two caravans stolen last year in the middle of the day. Seemed unlikely due to the chances of a thief being easily blocked by another vehicle on the sites access road, but I have no reason to doubt the owners.
