Seriously unimpressed with this site. Toilet block may be new but wasn't particularly clean. For the five nights we stayed the drains emitted a foul smell that turned your stomach, particularly by the ladies showers. Word of warning, don't try to book online, we did and it wouldn't let us complete the booking, so we rang up, told them this and they completed our booking over the phone and assured me the provisional online booking had been deleted. Receptionist forgot to take money for our dog but said we could pay when we arrived. On arrival they'd confused our details with the provisional booking which hadn't been deleted and rather rudely told us we were lucky they still had our plot and we couldn't have an awning up. I explained we had paid in full for a larger plot to include an awning, and that I'd done it by phone, but when they realised they were looking at the provisional booking (which hadn't been deleted) and the correct details were found there was no apology for making us panic, or for being rude. The sites are far too small, too close together, and too expensive for what they are, and there are no views. A ten minute walk to the beach is all it has going for it. A recent site we visited in wales which was right on a beach with spectacular views, well spaced out and fully serviced hardstanding pitches with own electric and water was £18 a night (in high season) whereas this was almost £40 for patchy grass pitches with water we were vaguely told was 'over there somewhere' by a chap who turned up in his van as we were parking and asked us to move our van 8 inches to the right (that's how tight the pitches were and our van is a tiny 1964 restored sprite). Totally overpriced. Only thing that made it bearable was beautiful weather and beaches. Not a great play area, local pub 'The Mermaid' is grotty and the seemingly underage staff are miserable, at £17 for a steak you at least expect them to come and wipe your table of sauce stains and beer puddles (they didn't). All in all found Porth a bit tired and drab, Newquay itself is overcrowded and a bit chavvy, not our scene. Having never been we didn't know what to expect from the area, but can honestly say we'll definitely be giving it a miss next time.

Overall a nice campsite in a nice location which we have put on our 'visit again' list.
The shower and toilet area are spacious and very clean, modern and always had soap/toilet tissue.
I only had to queue once for a few minutes to have a shower during a busy period.
The campsite does get busy, and for those pitched close to the shower and toilet block I guess they may have experienced a noisy night as many unattended children gather in this area in the evenings with scooters and bikes etc.
There is a small play area for children, but again those pitched close by may not get the peace they desired. I recommend checking out the map of the site and try to get a pitch away from these areas if you would be bothered by noise.
The staff are polite, but I wouldn't say 'over friendly', rather keep themselves to themselves.
There is not a shop on site, but just 2 mins walk along the the road is a small newsagent which sell the basics.
Also for food there is a nice pub just by the beach, which sell good value food, it does get busy in the evenings, but you can reserve tables.

The location of this site is great - the beach is just over the road - you can pop back to your unit for a cuppa ! Newquay is near by, but is quite a trek to walk in. You can visit Watergate Bay, Padstow, Newquay all easily from this site.
Great toilets and washing up facilities, all clean and modern. In fact some of the best we have been to. Flat site, fair size pitches.
There is a pub over the road too. Would definitely return !

This is a great site and well located to access all the major points of interest In and around Newquay, Padstow, Wadebridge and not far for a trip south to Falmouth, Truru etc, The site is quite extensive but the pitches are very large so you are NOT on top of each other. The pitches are all level and grassed with electrical points to each and water points well supplied. The TV signal is good for a change down here, thanks to a recent upgrade.
The toilets and wash facilities are immaculate. Probably the best we have encountered in the last three months or so of touring around the UK. Security is good with a car ID point at the entrance with a boom gate. The pub. Twenty metres. And a general store. Fifty metres away make for ease of necessities being available. Also a bus stop for north and south right at front park entrance.
A very good site and well worth considering. We would definitely return.

Good site, well managed, clean washrooms and pitches are taken care of regularly. Excellent location with the beach just across the road, Newquay close enough to walk by road and lovely to walk to along the coastal path. Bus stops at the site to and from the centre of Newquay although the timetable can't be trusted, just turn up and wait!
My only complaint about the site would be the lack of play space for kids. The play area is small to say the least and there are no open grassy areas to have any ball games and stuff like that. Having to give the kids a DVD or video game while you do the BBQ isn't ideal for an outdoor holiday.
One word of advice, stock up at the Spar up the road or the ASDA or Sainsbury's in Newquay as the shops just outside the site are a rip-off, 95p for a Coke, £1. 49 a can of Fosters (prices correct at time of writing). They have you on their doorstep and they abuse it without shame!
All in all, would definitely go again, had a wonderful time, good surf, beautiful location, very happy times.

Stayed here for a week in july as a late replacement when we were cancelled from Treamble Valley.
Great site, clean and warm toilet block, good sized pitch, great beach across the road along with the pub and shop close by,
Newquay is a 30 minute walk away via the coastal path and make sure you visit Lusty Glaze beach for the sea and the food.
Only down side was the hardstanding pitch is no longer level as the mono block has sunk

This is a very well maintained site with friendly staff. Toilet and Shower area is extremely clean and the best I have seen in a long time. Each pitch was spacious enough for our large tent but a bit bigger would have been better.
There are a few very large pitches but you need to book a year or so ahead to be in with a chance of getting them.
Porth beach is across the road but surfing on it is not allowed during Lifeguard hours. Nice for an evening surf though. Nicely situated for day trips to the Eden Project and there is a local shop just outside the camp for the essentials.
Well worth a visit.

Stayed here in a folding camper on 20 & 21 July (first weekend of the school holidays). Not our first visit but the first during peak time. Timing was due to this being the first decent weekend since March to get out & about in Cornwall (where we live). Location is fantastic, being across the road from the beach.
Had a drink in The Mermaid, which overlooks the beach, watching the sun sink over the sea. Magic! Opposite the pub is a Spanish tapas bar/restaurant, which is one of the main reasons we choose to stay at this site.
The toilet/shower block was, as always, very clean and, despite the site being very busy, we didn't once have to wait for a shower cubicle. Staff were helpful, friendly and cheerful.
For us there was only one issue with the site - noise. Some from gulls (which can't be helped as it's the breeding season and they make a lot of noise everywhere in the county at this time of year) but mainly from other campers. I've been camping for many years and there used to be an unspoken campsite etiquette about noise after certain hours at night and before certain hours in the morning. The new breed of campers, however, carry on as if at home, not realising or not caring that there is only a thin sheet of material between them and the rest of the world, not a brick wall. TVs & DVDs blare out late into the night, people talk loudly - even though they can see that the majority of the campsite is in darkness with people clearly trying to get some sleep. In the mornings some campers thought nothing of letting their children run riot around the campsite from 0630. We were planning to stay a few more days but left on the Sunday and moved to another site.
Would definitely visit again but well outside peak season.

Very good site in the perfect location if you want to get to the beach. Out of the gate, cross the road, and you are standing on the sand in all of 20 seconds.
Well laid out, open site, with an extremely good toilet block that is well maintained with central heating (on cold days) and piped music.
Nicely situated just outside of Newquay itself and with a pub 20 yards from the site entrance, and a small shop 50 yards away.
All you need is the weather for the perfect location.

Friendly staff, great location and superb, spotless facilities. We felt the pitch fees were very reasonable. The Mermaid over the road has better than average pub fare. Bus stop at site entrance for Newquay/Padstow, hourly intervals. Great beach. Walk out to the headland to view the blow hole which can be impressive.
We visited in low season, which made for a pleasant, peaceful stay. Would consider returning during peak times. There are no local shops within easy walking distance but we found a Tesco Direct, Sainsbury's and Asda in Newquay, with a larger Morrisons outside of town.
