Having decided to site our van this year at the site, we have been thrilled with the once again exceptional standards of cleanliness and tranquillity of the site. Wardens are so friendly and go above and beyond what is expected of their roles. Helpful both with advice and actions. Feel a little aggrieved that we must pay every time we walk the gardens at the hall, even a one off yearly fee could be implemented for those of us who wish to use the facilities more, so room for improvement by the owners.
But back to the site, peaceful, well maintained, friendly seasonal users, good dog walk. Highly recommend for peace and quiet.

A lovely quiet peaceful site, Spotless and clean, Showers and toilets warm and spotless. Very nice friendly staff. If you like a pint as my wife and I do don't go to the local they are not interested in drinkers only eaters mores the pity. But don't let this put you off this is a very peaceful site just what you need to unwind we will definitely return.

Second time at this site and will definitely be back.
Pitch was lovely, a but busier than last time, but it was bank holiday, so can't complain.
We had a new caravan and we were a bit unsure of all the new parts. On the Sunday night as we were making our tea, we thought the gas had run out it was 8pm but we went to the reception on the off chance and the wardens could not have been more helpful. Rather than taking our gas bottle, they assured us it was still full and came back to the van to help us. They discovered a cut off valve, which we knew nothing about and sorted the problem out straight away. Pizza was back on and the night was saved. No charge and wonderful service.
Facilities were excellent, clean as always.
We will definitively be back

A lovely quiet site great for a get away from it all holiday. Facilities were nice and clean and well maintained and the showers were lovely once you got used to the controls.
Lots of wildlife around - in fact an early morning trip to the facilities would find you walking through dozens of ducks and rabbits that all seem to hide away during the daytime!
Really friendly site folk and there was lots of nice things to do in the area. A round trip ticket on the Wensleydale railway was a nice few hours of nostalgia

My husband, mother in law and I stayed at this wonderful campsite for five nights over the Whitsun bank holiday. We found the site to be spacious, exceptionally clean and the wardens very helpful and knowledgeable of the area.
The toilet and shower facilities although a little dated were always clean and never overcrowded. There is a laundry facility and pot washing also available if needed.
The pitches are grass and therefore easy to put awnings up although some a little uneven, but again the warden gives the best advice on how to park up gaining the best outcome for your unit.
There was a party in The Hall on Saturday evening which was a little noisy due to a band playing, no notice given prior to campers, but as a one off occasion no real issue.
The surrounding area is one of extreme beauty with wonderful countryside walks. The chocolate Factory in Leyburn worth a visit and also the Steam Railway. We will definitely by returning to this fabulous tranquil site.
Only thing missing is a play area, but as we have no children of that age it makes the site even better for us. For families there are numerous play areas in nearby villages which offer play parks with lovely picnic areas so don't let the absence of one on the site rule it out.

We have arrived back today from a long weekend at this wonderful site. We will definitely be going back.
The moment you arrive you are made to feel very welcome - you are guided to your pitch and given help with getting it the best place. Even help with levelling. The Reception, toilet blocks and Deer House (laundry, washing up & tourist info) are all immaculate and are original estate buildings so fit in beautifully. Showers were always hot and proper showers - not push button switch off when you've got soap in your eyes jobbies.
There are a number of seasonal pitches and the care they take over their own pitches just shows the pride taken in this site (most have lawn mowers, strimmers and ladders stored under their vans).
The site is very peaceful. There is no shop on site but you can order milk & papers for the next day from Reception. There isn't a decent path to walk from the site but the shops are a short drive away. There is a nice looking pub opposite but the menu as a bit fancy & pricey for our simple tastes.
We had a pitch at the far end overlooking part of the estate which was full of grazing cows and sheep.
There is no play area for children so those with younger children may find that a problem. But children are made welcome.
On leaving we had to call a Recovery Truck and again we were offered a drink while we waited (We had already hitched up). Finghall village had a fete on while we were there which was great - vintage car show, field hill climb (a lovely gent took my son & I for a spin in his vintage car on the field). Apparently the other villages have good fetes as well.

We have just returned from here. The wardens/owners were very friendly and helpful. The pitches are very spacious and well set out. There was 2 separate toilet/shower blocks- never had to wait. Indoor area for washing up. My only criticism is that I felt it was not child friendly- No Ball Games Allowed! Very hard to explain to a sports mad 9 yr old especially when he can see lots of open space. Also very quiet site so was very aware of the noise my 3 yr old and 9 yr old were making. Overall a good site, for people looking for a quiet getaway but its not for people with children.

This was our first visit to this wonderful site. Everything we wanted - peaceful, abundant wildlife - which Gypsy loved - even though she could only look and not chase. The wardens were helpful and extremely pleasant. We had travelled overnight from Wales and arrived about 11 am and were fully in situ by midday awning and all.
This site is so well looked after - it must have been hard to keep it looking so pristine after such a diabolical summer season. The hook up was fine, and no we didn't blow a fuse with the electric kettle. The shower blocks (two) were both spotless and heated. Sinks and toilets were all clean and tidy. No complaints whatsoever.
On a few occasions we had reason to use the dish washing facilities, and there was ample hot water in this building also. Excellent use has been made of the old and historical buildings - which are completely disabled friendly. Dirty water and chemical toilet disposal areas were also within easy reach.
Each plot was easily reached via the tarmac road as a one way system around the site. This site is one for those who really want to get away from it all and de-stress. For those of you that love wildlife - we saw weasel, pheasant, squirrels, rabbits, and heard owls, fox and badgers.
The surrounding area is also very tranquil. We did'nt travel far - across to Hawes - to the Creamery, and the Ropemakers also to the magnificent Hardraw falls (which you get to through the Green Dragon pub - in itself an amazingly old 'real ale' pub)which was in its glory and roaring having had a weeks solid rain before we arrived. We also visited Aysgarth Falls, also fabulous and did a tour of the Black Sheep Brewery in Masham. On the way back from Masham a must to visit was the Brymor Ice Cream Makers - yummy.
All in all - we had a really lovely week - except for the rain - which could not be helped. We will certainly be back for more !

Travelled well over seven hours from sunny Devon arriving well past our intended arrival time. We phoned en route to advise the wardens that we would be there at six, then seven and eventually got there about twenty to eight.
Wardens very nice and helpful. Not at all phased by our late arrival. We did trip the electric late one night, again, the warden turned out and reset the switch without a murmur (just boiling the water for our hot water bottles!)
We pitched on a good sized plot near to the small dog walking area for our rather boisterous police dog puppy.
The plot was reasonably level with the just the off tweak needed.
Site very well kept. Had a bit of road noise but nothing too intrusive.
It was just adults this time as I didn't bring my four and six year olds. No park on site for them but it did make it a very quiet and relaxing place.
Showers basic but clean. It was lovely and sunny whist we were there but evening and overnight temperatures plummeted (so much so that on one night the water in the dog bowl froze) but the shower blocks were lovely and warm and the showers were proper showers, none of this push button thing - loads of piping hot water - fantastic.
We stayed for 3 nights to see the other half's eldest pass out from Catterick Garrison - easy access to there. The nearby towns looked lovely. Great stone buildings and really well kept. We popped into the pub across the road and had a drink but didn't eat. Menu was a bit more that we wished to pay so we went for a curry in Leyburn in a place called Saffron - really good!
A lovely dog walk too there called the Shawl. Fantastic scenery. Great little play park there too at the start of the walk for any younger members.
Had a couple pints of Black Sheep in the Golden Lion pub after - really good pint! And the fish and chips from the chippy opposite were excellent too.
Probably shouldn't have had the four pickled eggs though.
