New wardens now in charge of site. All site reviews were written before they took over so please don't tar them with same brush as old wardens, they are very pleasant and very helpful.
Children and dogs are welcome on site

On arrival at the site we found the warden to be friendly and helpful and we were quickly directed to our pitch. The pitches are on good level ground and very roomy.
The shower and toilet facilities are clean and well maintained with powerful showers (not like some sites where you get a pathetic dribble!)
There is a large washing up area with plenty of hot water and good sized sinks.
Across the road from the site is a very good pub serving excellent meals and the site is ideally situated for exploring the Yorkshire Dales.
We found the site to be very peaceful with immaculate landscaping and we had a very enjoyable weekend
Overall we found our experience to be in sharp contrast to previous visitors (see other reviews). Obviously the new wardens have made vast improvements.
We will certainly be making a return booking.

This site is now under new management, new wardens have taken over, and would like to extend a warm welcome to all visitors.

On arrival the owners/wardens were extremely friendly. Within minutes they complained that the season had started too early for them! (Mind you it was a very cold weekend) The warden then noticed some people on bikes entering the park and riding around the one way system the wrong way! Not sure why this was a problem they were adults and riding at a slow 'looking around' pace. The warden promptly waited to tell them off before taking us to our pitch!
Our pitch was right under the office window and had very little privacy yet the park is large but it looks as though it is more for the 'seasonal' campers than the tourers. The park is really nice, the facilities clean but basic and very cold (no heat at Easter wasn't fun). Luckily we used our own shower. Certainly not a site to take children as other reviews have mentioned. The nice thing is that seasonal campers are not allowed to leave up awnings when not in use which is so much better and makes the place look a lot nicer.
My husband had a severe case of sciatica which totally ruined our break and we couldn't do any walking at all. We noticed a lot of people on walks direct from the site and 'Reeth' up the road is well worth a visit with the old walking boots.
We noticed the 10amp electric which is a bit tight at £18 per night charge especially when they wont heat the loo block either! We managed not to trip it but we were really careful which was an absolute pain!
The Wyvil arms opposite is absolutely lovely, a bit pricey but you definitely get what you pay for and the friendliness is supurb. Unless going for a meal on the Saturday night I perhaps wouldn't recomend just a drink as they're really flat out serving tables, but on Sunday evening it was less busy and would be a nice place to drink and chat - all the staff make conversation.
Both Leyburn and Bedale nearby are nice places to visit.

Basic site, clean toilet block, friendly arrival guided to our pitch, then it all changed. It was our first time with the new van so a few problems with the electric tripping (not sure why). Telephoned the warden who was unhappy about having to ' put his coat on and come out'. Unfortunately it went off again but didn't want to upset the warden again, so we waited until the next morning before phoning, again very unfriendly. At £18 a night I would like to use some electricity. Family had travelled to see us after a day out and they wanted to see the new van, but the warden stopped us, again not so politely to tell us that they couldn't visit the van (he didn't give a reason) we were on foot as they had parked in the car park. All adults as well so its not that we were going to have a party. Children are allowed but no way are they welcome on this site. Overall a clean site but spoilt by the unwillingness of the wardens to just do their job and be there for the campers in times of need.

Lovely clean site and well maintained. Children and 'undesirables' definitely unwelcome. Very keen on their seasonal, semi permanent caravans and strangers not made so welcome. Tents are restricted to a field virtually on the main road and next to the visitors car park which made it a noisy stay. Stunningly lovely area and a nice site otherwise.

April 2005 Been here loads of times.
Nice, well-kept site - VERY quiet and a really good place to unwind. Kids are allowed but not encouraged, and it's really not the kind of site for kids anyway.
Dogs are welcome, and there is a reasonable dog walk. Wardens are very helpful, and the pub across the road is superb!
Leyburn is a super market town, with supermarkets, pubs galore and a great Chinese restaurant! The regular Farmers Markets are also well worth a visit.

april2004 Don't go here if youv'e got kids. Ball games not allowed, 'children should be seen but not heard' kind of place!
We were informed that there are no childrens facilities on the site on arrival, so basically keep them indoors.
Nice area.

July 2002 Nice site, well maintained and laid out.
Free showers and toilets were very clean.
Probably better for adults as ball games (and firearms!) were prohibited in the grounds.
Excellent gourmet pub just at the entrance, not cheap (£10 upwards for a main course) but delicious.
