Fantastic. The site, the location, the wardens, the coffee (and the rest of the cafe!).
We wanted to come to this area (Glen Affric) but definitely NOT the on the 'Nessie' trail! So searched for camp sites and this one came up. It was quiet as early in the season, and weather great - and no midgies! (yet). We have 2 kids (13 and 15) but have never wanted the Haven type experience so this site was perfect. Quite a lot of caravans in the middle and then a choice of areas for tents round the sides. We opted for the far end of the site, in the birch trees but still not far to walk to the facilities. One of our family is a wheelchair user but this was no problem here as there is a disabled loo/shower and level access into the reception and cafe.
We found the general facilities (inc free showers) to be just fine and always clean when we were there. There are also ample dishwashing sinks, plus 2 for laundry, 2 washing machines, 2 driers and a free fridge and small freezer. There is also a TV/games room but we did not need to use those. Wifi was on the whole OK but connection varied a bit - but we only wanted the weather forecast.
I just loved the peace and the rustling trees, together with the birds.
Being able to hire bikes was a bonus cos my eldest and I were able to cycle the 10 miles up the almost car-less road in Glen Cannich to the dam at the end (and get a lift back down again!)
We also really liked Glen Affric, Dog Falls and then right up at the end the short river Affric walk - but with stunning scenery and river rocks.
Food wise we had plenty of the great coffee and bacon rolls from the Bog Cotton cafe on site - and also a very nice meal at the Tomich Hotel. Food at the Cnoc Hotel just past Struy was also quite good. And the local Spar shop is pretty well stocked too!
All this (4 of us plus large car and Outwell Colorado 5 tent) for £17 per night seems very good value indeed.
(Even my 15 year old commented on how friendly everyone was, saying hello etc and in the village too)
We don;t camp as often as we would like to but if all the areas we want to visit had sites like this then I'd do my best to camp as often as possible!

A lovely, tranquil site with lovely walks nearby.
The owners are friendly and helpful and the shower/toilet block was always clean. There is a tv room, but we didn't use it. My 4 yr old loved the climbing frame and slide.
It cost £14 for 2 nights for the 2 of us, so very reasonable.
It rained a lot on our last night but the ground held up well.
A site we will be visiting again and again, we have already recommended it to some friends!

Very Quiet, Comfortable Site. Friendly little Cafe on Site. Owner and Wife very helpful and friendly. Shower Block could do with an update but this is to be the next thing to be done. TV & water on some of the Bollards.
Will definitely be visiting again as the area is Stunning. We cycled into Glen Affric which took us quite some time as it was uphill all the way but the scenery was stunning and well worth the effort. It took considerably less time to return to site.
Midges didn't bother us in the Motorhome but we could see a few Campers sitting with Hoods up to keep the pesky little devils away. You can always use the Avon Skin so Soft.
Yes, we had a very relaxing time and stayed extra nights as we felt so at home.

We have just returned from this site and must disagree with the majority I'm afraid. When we went the bins were overflowing, the toilet block cleaning times did not seem to be adhered to. The facilities to my mind are not big enough for the size of site, and a few more bin stations and water taps would be great. However there is a nice playpark and the site itself is lovely, it is a fantastic area to visit with the owners giving you a map when you get there of local walks. The local shop is well stocked.

We arrived at this site quite late in the day so we were pleased that they was plenty of room for our 2 big family tents. Upon arrival its was made clear straight away that we needed to be quiet at 11pm because the walkers who stay there get up early. The site was peaceful and relaxing the facilities were really good, TV room, fridge freezer, Washing up. Toilets and showers were clean but a few spiders and moths, Park for the kids and plenty of room to run about. The cafe had a good choice the service was a bit slow but the owners were the first to admit that they weren't the fastest. Beware of the midges not good, so was ready to go to bed by 11pm just to get away from them. They was a spar shop just down the road. The campsite is 12 miles away from the lochness centre free parking when you get there. Brilliant. The Cannich Campsite website doesn't do it justice because its much better when you get there. Would go again but a 9hr drive is a bit off putting as we only went for 2 nights. Good value for money.

What a lovely calm and relaxing site!
We were made very welcome, told to choose where we would like to park - lots of little hideaway places.
The shower block was kept very clean and the cafe had the most super cakes!
There were benches and picnic tables dotted around the site which was a nice touch and a lovely natural playground for children.
Walking in Glen Affric is wonderful - so much to see and do.
We had wonderful weather and definitely want to return in the autumn.

Had the perfect weeks holiday at this very friendly and laid-back site. The owner Matt and his wife couldn't have been more helpful. All the facilities were spotless and there are picnic tables spread around the site which were fully appreciated
Tomich Hotel which is a short drive away (5-10mins) does the most wonderful meals and the staff there are most pleasant and helpful.
There were four in our party who give this site and the surrounding areas of Glen Affric and Glen Cannich our highest approval.
Can't wait to make a return visit in the near future.

Couldn't get in (without booking) at any sites we wanted in Aviemore so drove on here and were delighted to be welcomed in a laid back way at this very pleasant, sheltered, flat and spacious campsite located among trees at the entrance to the wonderful Glen Affric. We were able to choose our own spot and there were plenty of nooks and crannies among the trees here for tents of all sizes. There were more open spaces too although some of this was dedicated to people with large units and hook-ups.
It was our first time camping in Scotland for 30 years and we were a bit worried about midges - but there were very few. We coped by throwing a log or two(plenty lying around) onto our charcoal bbq at night. Very romantic - if not quite an open fire.
Generally this was a quiet campsite, with many people tired after days out on the mountains. Early to bed and early to rise!
Shower block for women was OK, cleaned frequently enough - but really only just coping with the August peak-time, and was described as being shortly to be improved. Well it could have been more spacious (3 showers, 1 cubicle with basin/WC plus 3 other WCs and basins. Sinks for washing and washing machines were available- only problem was the water pressure was a bit variable.
There were recycling facilities here too which seem surprisingly rare on the campsites we stayed at.
Children on the site seemed to spend a lot of time on the wooden play park and out of their parent's hair. Looked good to me!
The local shop (SPAR)was useful to us, - daily paper, meat and BBQ things! and not too far to walk to. There were also a couple of local pubs but we didn't try them out.
The dog's needs were easily catered for in adjoining fields where she also found an abundance of rabbits to chase.
All in all - a great success and we stayed longer than we planned.

We spent 4 nights here and it was simply brilliant. The site is well maintained and clean and the pitches for tents were perfect and spacious. Would advise bringing strong tent pegs as ours seemed to bend in the hard ground but that is a small niggle. Showers were always hot and clean and the owners very friendly. Easy to reach some breathtaking scenery and Loch Ness is not far either, we loved our stay and would certainly come back

We booked a two week holiday on this site, based purely on the reviews and the pictures. It's everything it's cracked up to be - a beautiful site, under trees and very, very quiet. When we arrived our hearts sank because it was very busy - children running about, lots of dogs - and we wanted a quiet holiday. By 10pm everything was silent - bliss.
The owners were very pleasant and helpful, the Bog Cotton Cafe lovely (wish it stayed open in the evening), the showers are fine (a bit basic, but due to be refurbished), you have to get your timing right at busy times, but that happens everywhere. I want to go back as soon as possible!
We had a meal at the Slaters Arms in the village - the steak pie was fab, and we frequently went to the village shop which sold everything we could ever need, at reasonable prices. I understand that there in wifi in the village at the Glen Affric bar, and there is also a cash machine (you can't pay by card at the village shop).
After walking along a recommended walking route we bought an OS map and struck out on our own (as those routes get very busy), and would recommend that to any experienced walkers. If you are tempted to walk the south side of Loch Affric, resist and walk along the north side, or venture into the hills.
Midges are a problem - it is Scotland after all. We were able to buy repellent at the campsite shop.
