Lovely, friendly site, toilets/showers could do with upgrading (owners have put up notices to identify the problems), showers were great so long as there was no one washing dishes next door, early a.M. Was fine, kids had a problem in the evening! Everything kept clean and tidy, someone comes in regularly to check.

Owners were always available and were keen to make sure that there were no problems, very helpful with finding the right pitch for your individual needs.

Putting tent pegs in was a little difficult, lots of stones under surface, few bent pegs, but all in all fairly level and sheltered because of the trees.

Kids loved the chaffinches, butterflies, dragonflies and searching for frogs (wildlife mad family) great site for younger kids but not much to do for 10 and above! Games room was unfortunately old and tattered and not very inviting, my kids (aged 12 and 13) weren't interested! Cafe was great though and good prices too, don't get that very often these days!

Had a super weekend, most of it lovely and peaceful, only bad point was a group of people (from Aberdeen area I believe as we live near there, how embarassing!) who thought they could use the site to party all night, obviously wouldn't get away with it back home so thought they could take it elsewhere! Campsite owner was brilliant though (thank goodness as they were too scary to approach by myself) and insisted on them quietening down, eventually having to threaten them with phoning police, they just gave him cheek but did eventually quieten down!

I do think this was a one off for this site and it certainly wouldn't put me off going back, lots more positive things to enjoy on site and up Glen Affric and Glen Cannich. Tomich Hotel does excellent bar meals and the fish and chip shop at Fortrose on the Black Isle is super too!

This site is tremendous! Highly recommended. We travel with a folding camper so need fairly level ground for the awning area. This site has perfect pitches. Well drained and spacious. We had a hook up and TV aeriel connection. Without the connection you have zero chance of reception.

The owners are helpful, pleasant people. The onsite cafe is well presented with good prices. 2 Offsite pubs are available within a 10 min amble and another pub, The Steading, with superb food 6 miles away towards Drumnadrochit. There is everything you need for an active or inactive holiday. Toilets/showers were good enough but are on the adjenda for full refurbishment, hopefully for next season. Be warned though, this site is VERY QUIET and relaxing. The kids do have a play area and tv room, but you can pitch away from these.

LOVE this place. If you're in a tent & don`t need hook-up there is an area slightly apart from main site area (has separate gate entrance) slightly elevated where you can have more privacy.

Loos & showers were basic at time of our stay

But adequate & clean, & owners could not be nicer

Bacon butties superb!

Best thing of all is the actual location. If you really want to get into truly unspoilt wild countryside then this is WONDERFUL. You are in the heart of a walkers paradise, & there are walks to suit all abilities. Great for those with dogs. The facilities of Cannich village itself is in easy walking distance. If you want to eat out you can do so in Cannich or numerous places within easy driving distance. Can`t wait to go back.

Very friendly and helpful owners, this was a very nice site. Very quiet and peaceful location. Beautiful surroundings. Lots of rabbits and wildlife about. Good facilities, I have only one thing to say about them is there are loads of spiders in the toilet and shower area it is the only thing that I wasn't happy about other than that this is a great site and will visit again.

I would highly recommend this site to anyone (who is not scared of spiders lol).

The bog cotton cafe is good for breakfast if you don't want to cook yourself. Its a wee bit expensive but the food was good.

All in all this is a very good site with everything you need to have a good camping experience.

Definitely the one to go for if you are visiting in that area.

There wasn't a lot of midges there at this time of year but still enough for them to let you know they hadn't disappeared completely lol.

Well what a fantastic site this one is! You have to want to get to it, as it's on a loop road from Beauly to Drumnadrochit, but it's the long way round!

Once you get there though it's well worth the journey, a beautiful quiet site, with both open & tree covered pitch areas, & with both gravel & grass areas for campervans and caravans. Plenty of electric bollards about if required, together with water points.

A new reception / cafe block has just been completed, with a decked patio area & a lawned roof, which is great. They'd only just started serving food when we were there & we had a toastie & a cake, which were both very fresh & tasty & not badly priced at all, considering there's a captive audience!

The shower & loo block was a little dated, with the showers being free, but unfortunately controlled by one of those irksome push buttons, which is OK but you have no control over water temp & the one I ended up in first morning lasted about 4 seconds before I had to push it again - gggrrrrr.

However, they were kept very clean & tidy at all times & waiting was minimal even at busy times.

I believe the updating of these facilities is next on the list, but don't quote me on it!

The play area for kids looked great, although as we don't have any I can't comment any further tan that.

There are some fantastic walks & bike rides in the area, as mentioned a good long one down to Dog Falls & Glen Affric is well worthwhile (about 24 miles total if you go in the woods too), but you can park just at the head of Loch Affric & walk from there.

In summary, a great quiet site in a fantastic area, good for overnight or a few days & very good value. We will definitely be back

Lovely campsite. Owners could not do more to help their guests. Even lent us an extension cable because ours wasnt long enough to get to the electricity supply.

Peaceful and clean site. Surroundings are lovely.

Bit far from the main Drumnadrochit town. Takes 12 miles down the road to get to, but is definitely worth it.

Some lovely walks and is well worth a visit to Glen Affric for the day.

Well recommended.

Lovely remote campsite with very helpful and friendly owners. The site is clean, quiet and has lots of information about the local area which is outstandingly beautiful. They also hire bikes at reasonable rates, and we hired some and headed off to Glen Affrich which is approximately 12 miles away. The road heading to it is a bit steep at first but evens out after a mile or so.
The scenery heading up there is outstanding, and Loch Mullardoch is simply one of the most beautiful places I have ever had the good fortune to see. On returning from our journey we headed into the local pub in Cannich for a well deserved pint. I know it has been mentioned before but. Midges are everywhere and took great pleasure in biting us. Citronella does not work. Not advertising for them but there is an Avon product that works.

Cannich is one of the quietest places we've been to and the site is superb - the opportunity to setup wherever we liked, all the details about the area, get your water here, all about the facilities and 'would you like a wire for the telly'?

Some places take your money and run - but not here.

Facilities are spot on as we did a full weeks laundry for a few pounds. Everyone on the site 'got on' and there was a real friendly feel about the place too, even when busy.

Locally there is a shop which is well stocked and the local bus into Inverness, is good but beware it is a very limited service.

We don't plan to visit the area again soon, but, if we do, this is on the list!

This is a very remote site, a local Spar shop, pub and hotel in the village, approx 10 mins walk, but thats about it.  Loch Ness and a few 'Tourist' shops are about 12 miles down the road, while the town of Inverness is a further 16 miles away.  not that we didn't enjoy our stay at all, we quite liked the remoteness, no traffic noise anywhere, lots of scenic windy roads to get anywhere and the owls hooting at night.

Looking around you could quite easily park up for a few days pull on your boots and take any one of several sign posted walks through the woods and glens.

Toilets and showers were spotlessly clean at all times, and obviously busy at the 'peak' times.

Not many caravans while we were there, mostly tents and motorhomes,  would advise the use of strong pegs as the ground is on the hard side, and we broke a few of our plastic ones!

The reception area also sells gas at very reasonable rates, hires bikes, and has all the leaflets you will ever need to help you plan what to do and see during your stay.

Matthew, the very friendly owner, showed us a varying choice of pitches, and allowed us to take our pick.  it became evident during our stay, that this was normal practise.

Although midges have been previously mentioned, the only time we saw any was when we were packing up to leave - although judging by the bite on our legs and arms, they must have been in stealth mode the rest of the time.

Looking forward to returning at some point in the future, but will stock up at Tesco on the way there, as it saves a 3 hour round trip!

 Great site and beautiful location.
Clean toilets and showers, small playpark for the kids and a river for fishing / paddling a few minutes walk.
Close to the site is a local Spar shop and a pub, the slaters arms I think , that sells good food and has friendly owners.
The site is within easy and scenic drive to Loch Ness and Inverness. There are also great walks and bike trails nearby.
I will be going back.
