We have just returned from a ten night stay here. Overall it was a great site with good facilities and very clean. The site offers a lot of facilities without being over commercial. We really liked the fact that nothing was in our faces.
The friendly reception area has a very small shop, selling essentials such as bread, milk and papers, but Narberth is a five minute drive away and offers a well stocked Spar and Cost Cutter as well as lots of independent shops and craft shops. Further afield are a Morrisons in Haverford West and Sainsburys in Tenby.
The pool, though small, was very warm and enjoyed by people of all ages. Our girls aged six and seven loved every minute they spent in the pool.
We ate in restaurant twice at tea time – and though we didn’t have high expectations were pleasantly surprised by how nice the food was. The drinks prices were reasonable too. Just be aware that they don’t take cards and so you need to have cash on you (I just assumed I could pay by switch).
The play area is a bit old – but it didn’t stop any of the children using having from having a great time.
We didn’t really visit, but the clubhouse / bar seemed to have some sort of entertainment on most nights, including quizzes, bingo, face painting, singers etc. One lunch time there was also the opportunity to handle reptiles, including spiders, bearded dragon and snakes – not my thing, but my children loved it.
The only real negative comment I could make is that the shower cubicles could have done with an extra few inches, another shelf and an additional hook – not much room for anything more than a towel. I also would have preferred it if I was able to remove the shower head from the wall, especially as the temperature occasionally fluctuated from very hot to cold (not ideal when trying to shower young children). However, they were very clean, free to use and we saw them being cleaned several times a day.
Out and about there was a lot to do – we loved Freshwater East Beach, but to be fair we didn’t come across a bad beach, though Stepping Stone and Wiseman’s Bridge were more stony than most. We had a lovely day at Folly Farm (a must for families with younger children). We also stumbled across a ‘Crab handling’ event for children advertised in the free Coast to Coast newspaper, and organised by Pembrokeshire National Park. It cost £3. 50 per child and was free to adults – we had a fabulous evening enjoying this at Tenby Harbour.
We would recommend this site and will definitely return again.

Just got back from a 10 day holiday, the site was great and the toilets very clean.
The pub was good and the kids loved the entertainment. The food in the pub was fine and reasonably priced.
The pool was brilliant and quite shallow which meant our 6 year old could safely play while we sat round the edge. Even on chillier days the kids still went in as it was always warm.
Not much in the area itself but Narberth was lovely and had a great Indian but book as it got busy.
Only a few bad points, the play area needs updating and could be bigger and there was quite a few kids running round late at night (after 10pm) making quite a lot noise.
We went to dinosaur experience which is well worth a visit.
Would definitely recommend this site but unfortunately they are no longer providing electric hookup for tents.

First impression was what a lovely site, lovely pool area clean and friendly staff. Then came the rain which being positioned where we were couldn't have been any worse the water was running down the slope (Not the sites fault I know as they can't control the weather)the toilet/shower portacabins were in a state possibly due to the weather but there was definitely a strong smell in them and the bar area/entertainment was jam packed with locals rather than campers which spoilt it as there was no where to sit. We decided enough was enough and went back to our tent to dry off. Several hours later (Approx 2. 30am) a group decided to let off fireworks and one drunken lad tried to access our tent until someone shouted Oi is that your tent ! made me a little bit nervous after that. My girls are very competent swimmers and over 12 but were not allowed in the pool area without an adult, 1 child on their own I could justify but, if I as the parent I am confident then surely that should have been acceptable to the site. Would I go back. Possibly

Just had bank holiday weekend at this site. Site was fine although tent pitches are sloping and without hook ups.
There is no dog walking area on site, also not that many places to walk off site at least none I found, so had to walk dogs along roads couldn't find a off lead walking area.
Very family friendly site, play area, small pool, amusement room.
Clubhouse on site that does food, we waited over an hour for pie chips and peas for my son take away only fo find no filling in pie, did get a full refund on returning to complain. Food is all fried and microwave type, so no idea how we had such a long wait. Pizza did look lovely and also friends of ours had breakfast there and said that was lovely.
Showers and toilets cleaned regularly although there did seem to be some issue with the water pump to the 2 toilet blocks in the camping field as it did run out of water several times so toilets wouldn't flush, this was not great on Sunday night when they all ran out of water and very quickly became dirty and unusable until the next morning, there were other toilets available at bottom of hill so longer walk needed.
Also noticed that in the long grass near where we were pitched there was lots of rubbish dumped, which in the wind blew everywhere.
Had a good weekend but I wouldn't return to this site, nothing really nearby within walking distance, water pump issues in toilets, didn't feel as a tent camper that is was good value for money the caravans had better pitches.

We visited at the end of the season so touring area virtually empty, only two tents and four touring vans.
Site was spotlessly clean and well maintained, site staf were constantly checking site.
Toilets/shower block were spotless and cleaned at least twice a day.
Lack of shop at end of season even for essentials, nearest shops in Narberth, a few miles away or Tenby 12 miles away.
We took up a large area, not sure if we would have enough space in the height of the season.
Would recommend this site to anybody.

This was our first camping experience, and we settled on the Grondre site, as the Vale Holiday Park website was excellent with good reviews, and seemed to offer us all we required.
On arrival, the Reception staff were very friendly and efficient, and we were directed to our pitch at the top of a slightly sloping field. We didn't require electrical hook up, so were a bit further away from the toilet blocks than those who did - mainly caravans.
We were close enough to the toilets to let our young daughter visit on her own, and were most impressed with the cleanliness of both toilets and showers. We visited both toilet blocks whilst staying at Grondre, and both were of the highest standard.
The cleaners were meticulous, and the showers were efficient and we had no problem with fluctuating temperature at all. The site was quite full whilst we were there, but we didn't experience any problems accessing showers or toilets.
The location of the site was rural, set in farmland, which was desirable for us - less chance of our possessions being stolen by thieves in the daytime. The security at the site was fantastic - the security van circled the field a few times a night, clearing the football pitch at 9:30pm each night.
The security guard also patrolled on foot, and there was a general sense of safety on the site. There was a small playpark for children, which was adequate. The swimming pool looked gorgeous, and had great reviews, but didn't open until 10:30pm, which we felt was a bit late, as we were usually out on a day trip by then.
We didn't drink or eat in the bar, but it looked lovely. A few of our fellow campers rated it highly. The site was friendly, and we met some lovely people who were incredibly kind. Within minutes of arriving, a man offered to put our tent up.
We rate this as an excellent camping experience, and are now looking for a bigger tent, as ours was the smallest on site! Thank you, Grondre. A great first time camping experience for us.

Just returned from a two night short break at Grondre. This was our maiden voyage as campers and we had a couple of friends who were more seasoned come along for company.
On arrival reception was friendly and helpful, we were shown to our pitch which was in a good position. I have to say that the camp was spotlessly clean, from the pitches to the clubhouse and toilet/shower blocks.
We spent one night in the club whilst the kids film night was on, beer was reasonable and food was priced just right.
The whole place felt safe with the children and we enjoyed our short break.
We are converted campers and shall be returning.

We have just returned from a 10 day stay at this site. We paid £155 for a 10 night stay with no EHU. Upon arrival we found reception to be friendly and efficiently run, and were shown immediately to our pitch, which was extremely spacious. We have a Hartford XL tent and a large people carrier, both of which fitted easily onto the pitch. We could have fitted a gazebo on there too!
The site was small, very clean and well-maintained, with a football pitch at the top of the site. We were just near the pitch which our boys loved. The facilities were always clean, I can honestly say they were the cleanest we have seen.
I think the site may have been improved over the last couple of years because there are now 4 blocks with 4 showers and 4 toilet cubicles in each, 4 washing up sinks, 3 drinking water points and 2 huge covered bins on the touring field, so no need to take rubbish to the skips at the entrance.
The pool was small but warm and clean, and the kids loved it. The playground was ok, served it's purpose but nothing special. There are 2 small games rooms, again, served their purpose but very small.
The bar was nice and comfortable, we had 2 meals there and both times we were impressed with both the price and the quality of the food. There is a fantastic breakfast menu which offers a takeaway service, extremely good value and delicious if you can't face frying any more bacon! Drinks are also well priced. As we have a young baby we didn't stay to watch any of the entertainment but it was on most nights. There was also a 'movie night' and a kids tag rugby tournament had been organised.
Shop-wise the reception stocked the basics, and there was a free ice-pack freezing service.
There isn't anything within walking distance of the site, but Narberth is quite close with a Spar, takeaways, pubs etc.
Night time security at this site is excellent. At around 9.30 - 10pm the security guards drive around the site in their van and round up the children, sending them back to their tent / caravan or to rejoin their guardian in the games room / family bar! Security guards patrol throughout the night, which makes the place feel very secure.
Overall this is a very good site and a great base for exploring Pembrokeshire. We had days out at Blue Lagoon Waterpark (fun but pricey so take a picnic and stay all day to get moneys worth!), Folley Farm (excellent for younger kids), Heathertons activity park (great value and good for whole family) and visited Tenby and Saundersfoot (lovely beaches!).
On the downside, we feel that the reception ought to have been open a little later than 5pm during high season and that the site would benefit from a shop. Other than these small points, the only negative was the lack of consideration from other campers!

Camped on a wet weekend here not a bad site bar + food well priced pretty cheap tbh there's a kids hour starting at about 7.
Toilets/showers were very small and 8 showers spread over 3 different blocks for each sex and only 1 toilet and 1 urinal in the mens camping field.
Friendly staff pool is heated although outdoors all pitches are on a bit of a slope ours wasn't too bad pitches aren't defined it seem a bit scrappy as the guide lines from another familys tent where practically touching good job we got on.
Had problems with a group on site being loud past 3am security went there continually but they didn't listen to them, security also had words with others who hadn't caused any problems in comparison.
Would come again as it 10 mins from folly farm and close to all the other attractions oakwood etc.

Good value for money been there twice lovely place friendly staff, bad points not many lights around tourer area, small shower cubicles. The swimming pool is small but its the hottest I have been in, its like a bath 29 degrees
Would I go back there again yes I would, it could do with more washing up places, and the empty buildings around the pool has got plenty of potential
