This site looks like it has been completely refurbished. The reception and shop area are new, and the sanitation block is immaculate and modern - you could be mistaken for thinking you were in a hotel, with some showers having a sink and toilet! We camped here out of season so the site was quiet. We decided not to have EHU, and managed with our onboard facilities. The site is out of town, but whilst we were there, there was a bus every hour which runs from the site into St Ives. During the summer the bus runs until late, the last one back from St Ives at 11. 25pm but this stopped on our second night and the last bus back was then 7. 25pm - which we thought was still pretty good. There are footpaths from the site, some which link up to the South West Coast path, which means you can do a circular walk to Zennor (reception gave us a small map), and you can also link to the coast path and walk into St Ives. There is Internet access here, but we didn't bother as you have to pay, however everything else is included in the price - hair driers, nice hot water for washing up, good showers. Although this site is out of town, the shop stock some essentials and you can order French bread, croissants etc to collect from the shop in the morning, which was great. The pitches are a decent size and are level, there is a games room, which we didn't use, and a children’s play park with lots of wood chippings, there is also a large games field, with pitches around the edge which we thought was great, as often on camp sites, there is not enough space for ball games.
We would definitely return to this site.

As stated in a previous review we also travelled as two units but because we were not staying five nights or more we were not put together. We were across from one other which was not so bad however when asked if possible to move together the next day we were told someone else was going onto the pitch. Not a big deal but it was the way it was said to us.
The site itself is very nice, very big with lovely clean facilities. The surrounded area us beautiful, lovely costal walk. We used the bus service from site into St Ives and the dogs were allowed on which was an added bonus. St Ives is stunning, lots of shops, pubs and restaurants, would definitely recommend a visit. You can walk from campsite it's about 2 miles and there is a clear path from site.

We stayed here for 4 nights on a serviced pitch. The site is beautiful and in a good location. We were travelling as two families but you are only guaranteed pitches together if you are staying for 5 nights or more. We were however promised on booking that they would try their best to get us as close together as possible, we were nowhere near which was very disappointing and put a bit of a downer on the holiday. The bus service from the site into St Ives was very handy as parking in St Ives is limited. The new facilities were fantastic but there simply isn't enough of them for such a busy site. Only one block, we had to queue for the toilets and showers and there were only 6 pot washing sinks! We felt that two blocks of a lower standard would be much better than one of hotel quality that isn't big enough to cater for the site during peak times.

Site fees are expensive but the facilities are outstanding- by far the best we have encountered on out travels.
Site location is good with many paths from the site. There is a private way-marked trail set up by the farm but its not clear if this is officially accessible to campers or just for the holiday cottages- we used it anyway and gives good access to the SWC path.
Regular bus service from the site to St Ives (£1-50 but you cant use your bus pass)
I would imagine the site gets very busy at peak times but in June it was fine.

Arrived here on Sunday 8th June. We visited this site many years ago and were happy to see the site is much improved since our last visit. It now has new owners who have updated the toilet block and showers which are of a high standard. Each pitch now has dividing hedges. Beautiful views of the bay. Also now there is an hourly bus service to St Ives which is inexpensive and runs until early evening. When we visited it wasn't very busy so hopefully during the summer season more people will choose to book as it deserves a visit

A fantastic touring site in an amazing location with amazing facilities along with friendly and helpful staff. The cleanliness of this site had an air of hotel chic in the toilets and shower block. Lots of bins, and also nice to see that this site encourages the importance of the environment from recycling, solar powered electric to the shower block and their own personal supply of natural spring water. Reception staff most friendly with a good knowledge of the local area and recommendation of local walks along with a well stocked shop. We walked on the coastal path both to St Ives and Zennor were we were lucky to see dolphins and seals but for the less energetic then there is a bus that visits daily at regular times and reasonably priced. We didn't have children with us bit this site has an amazing out door play area and in door games room. We will definitely stay at this site again next time we are touring Cornwall, and would recommend this site to anyone visiting this area.

Good site but strangely quiet off-peak and could be better signposted!
Stayed here for a night as group of student hikers backpacking the coast path. Had booked and paid in advance; a good job as we didn't see a member of staff at all during our stay. Turned up around 7pm after getting lost (very poor signposting from the coast path) to find a phone number in place of reception. Rang up and were told to pitch where we liked with helpful direction to the most sheltered area.
Plenty of drinking water taps around which was useful and meant not walking too far to make a cup of tea. Main toilets and showers were closed as it was off peak but family bathrooms still open. These involved a toilet, shower and washbasin in one room, confusingly labelled with a shower sign so took me a while to find the loo and almost resorted to using the 'Chemical toilet' (presumably waste disposal point). No soap or hand drying provided which was annoying. Also impossible to use the toilet without tracking mud into the shower area.
Indoor wash up area with hot water very welcome.
Games room was great for packing up tents on a rainy morning (and I'm sure good for its intended purpose too) although everything was switched off as it was low season.
Overall served us well but definitely felt out of season - I suspect the owners had other things to do with few guests around.

Our family of 2 adults and 2 children (7 and 4 years) stayed here last August (2013) and we have just booked to return again during this year's school holidays. We stayed in a tent on a perimeter multi-serviced pitch which was great - the hedge gave us some privacy and shelter during the 'not so nice' days!
We camp several times a year but always love St Ives and the fabulous beaches. St Ives can be a nightmare to park during the summer holidays so we loved the hourly bus from the campsite and the drivers didn't mind the children's sandy body boards, buckets and spades etc. We used to stay at Little Trevarrack but we were really disappointed when we found out this had been sold for redevelopment - it was a great site with really clean facilities, well kept grounds and really friendly staff and owners. It was such a pleasant surprise when we found out that they had taken over Trevalgan and although the site doesn't have a pool we decided to give it go and it was great to see friendly faces when we arrived after our 5 hour drive.
The site is in a really beautiful countryside location but just 2 miles from St Ives. The children loved seeing the cows over the hedge in the morning! The site facilities were always very clean but in need of an update although having just spoke to the owners on the phone when I booked it seems like there is lots of work going on over the winter including a new shower block with underfloor heating, a new reception and shop and they are even making some of the pitches bigger.
Roll on the summer - can't wait!

Having just returned from a 10 night stay in St Ives at Trevalgan I thought it pertinent to write a quick and recent review!
We all thought the site was very pleasant. The facilities were spot on, clean throughout the day, and always had hot water. The family type shower rooms are a god send when you have little ones with you. We didn't make use of the washing machines etc but they get plenty of use evidently! The pitch size is good and we have a large tent which fitted no problem with two cars on the pitch with room to spare for bbqs etc. No issues with the electric supply either. The site is quiet at night and over the bank holiday weekend staff were walking around after dark as the site was very busy. The play area for the kids is good and there are some small football nets on the sports field. Overall we we very by pleased the site although we would probably book the Ayr site next time due to its proximity to the beaches but this is by no means a reflection on Trevalgan (and its their sister site anyway)!
You can walk to St Ives via a footpath which links to the South West Coastal Path. Not so easy with little ones though but a must if you can manage the terrain. You can also walk it via the roads but there is no footpath until you reach the edge of town and the hill is challenging if you're not so mobile (I know I ran it)!
There is a bus that comes to site and a timetable is provided on arrival (although I believe this is peak season only). Beware that we found parking to be a nightmare anywhere close to the beach or town centre. We find the best place to be the rugby club (signposted) which was £5 for all day and has a bus service so I could drop the family at the beach then park and bus myself for the car parking otherwise it becomes an expensive extra. Bikes next time. In the evening there is a car park on the hill as you descend into town which had spaces each evening and at around a £1 an hour.
The beaches are great. Clean, lifeguards on duty, plenty of services (toilets and food etc), the sand is great and the surf is brilliant on Porthmeor beach. Around 1. 5 miles away is Carbis Bay which has less surf if the little ones don't like the waves too much. It could be a beach anywhere in the world this one. Beware thigh that parking is a nightmare but again you can walk to it via the SWC.
There are loads of restaurants and nice bars in the town but we find that booking is a must at the busier times.

We spent two weeks at the campsite with our children and had a lovely holiday despite the weather for two days being horrendous (but not a lot you can do about that). We camped on the games field as we requested an unserviced pitch.
We stayed here a couple of years ago and can only say that this time we found the campsite very much cleaner and better maintained, you can tell the new owners really care. We found the staff at the campsite very friendly and approachable (the couple who do the evening shift even offered to come and help with our tent if there were problems during the night - on one extremely windy evening). Plus on the following day when the wind was still causing a problem the campsite actually called us to tell us there was an issue with the tent, luckily this wasn't major, easily solved and our holiday continued trouble free.
I can only say that with children I appreciated the fact that dogs weren't allowed on the games field and knew that they could safely play without dogs mess being around (I know most will owners will lift it but not all and you can't always get every bit).
We have used the farm trails in the past and enjoyed them so had been disappointed when we read on the website and the campsite terms and conditions (received on booking) that it was no longer available. However we walked along the path that is now there often in the evenings and went to St. Ives twice and Zennor along the inland and then coastal path and really enjoyed it still. There is an electric wire along parts of the path to St. Ives at the beginning but this is not an issue and we were walking with boisterous 5 & 7 year olds.
We had no problems booking once we found the correct number and website (due to the change in ownership we did keep finding the old details at first).
All in all an extremely lovely campsite that I can see will only improve now it is no longer an 'overflow' campsite as we felt the previous owners mainly used it for (the maintenance and cleanliness previously definitely let it down - we thought we'd give the new owners the benefit of the doubt and were v. Pleased we did).
