We used this site because we joined a group of friends who have been coming here for several years. We had been warned that the staff were not overly friendly, which was true, but they weren't rude.
There was a little confusion on the two occasionns I called after I booked, as my booking had been put under the name of the original booking and not my own. There was also a little confusion once about whether I was sharing a pitch with someone else in the party! THat had me worried as I'd specified my tent (Montanna 6) when booking, and knew that there wasn't enough room to share!
The campsite itself was lovely and clean, and the toilets, showers and washing up places constantly cleaned. I only had to queue for a shower once (5 minutes). There is also a very good baby bath should you have very little ones.
I found the pitch I was on was adequate to fit the Montanna and the car to one side, but wouldn't have been long enough to fit an extension on. There would have been room for a tarp though.
It is a very windy site, mainly because of the location! BUT we didn't blow away, but on the mornings after the two windiest nights were piles of windbreaks next to the bins. We also had torrential rain a couple of nights, but the ground drained very well.
The play area and games room were a hit with all the children who were with us. It was relatively quiet at night, and not too noisy in the morning. There is a small but expensive camp shop, and they offer ice pack re-freezing for 20p a pack which wasn't bad.
The beach can be accessed by a coastal path, which is about 30 minutes walk. We parked at another campsite (legally), and walked along the coastal path from there (10 minutes walk).
It wasn't the cheapest of sites, but we'll probably return to join our friends, and there are lovely sea views.

I love this campsite. I popped down for a getaway break and arrived - no preconceptions. The lovely receptionist showed me around and I pitched up overlooking the bay. To be woken up by a wren first thing with warm sun made it memorable. The couple next to me kept me entertained with packing so much onto 2 motorbikes. Why have nice panniers when you can make a huge windsock with bin liners. The rate was excellent and the toilet block is 1 of the best. Next year 2 weeks in the camper methinks

This site is in an idyllic location. We booked late so were in the overflow field which was large and the play area was on the other side. The pitches were well spaced and it we were still close to the facilities. The toilet and shower block was always busy, but that's because they were so good. No queues and lots of facilities which were always being cleaned. The campsite cafe served lovely food and the staff were always pleasant. The free bus came in handy, but we always managed to find parking in St Ives if we needed to. We found the coastal walk on our last day. The views take your breathe away and I think we'll return to walk along this coast.

This campsite is not ideal for those with large family tents. The major reason is due to plot sizes. The campsite takes tents up to 8m but most plot sizes are only 8m. The plots are very clearly delineated so you may struggle to put your tent, family car and picnic table on your plot and may well find your tent ends almost on the internal campsite road, a real problem with young children.
Please do not assume that booking early or letting the campsite know the size of your tent will mean a larger plot will be allocated. As plots are issued as you book, ask at the time how tight it will be to get all your camping equipment on your plot. Ask also if your pitch is level as not all are.
The campsite is also on an exposed site. The hedges which surround the site are not high enough to offer protection for a larger tent. During our stay (in August!) several tents blew down.

This site is clearly a popular one - we turned up at this site on the Thursday evening for a weekend of Bank Holiday camping. There was only one pitch available for more than two nights as it was nearly fully booked - fortunately we got a pitch and stayed for four nights.
We enjoyed our stay, on the whole. The plusses are:
It's well-run: the toilet and shower facilities were ample, and generally very clean.
The bus into St. Ives is extremely useful (£1.50 single; £2.50 return)
It's relaxed and friendly - loads of families and couples.
The main minus is that it cost us £20 per night - this was only for two adults and one tent. I'd say that's fine if you're with a family and want the games room, washing machines and dryers, but we were just looking for a base from which to explore the area. Now that I've been to the area, I'd look around other sites to find a cheaper spot.
Also, it was incredibly noisy from around 7.30 am each morning - the bin lorry does an early morning round which doubles up as an alarm call if you're not already awake!
However, we had a great four days and if comfy camping is important to you, then go to Trevalgan!

About 3 miles from the town of St.Ives, this site is brilliant!
The park caters for campers, caravans and motor homes, on a level site, with some divisional hedges between pitches, in a beautiful moorland setting. Using it's own tapped, filtered water source, solar energy and good waste recycling facilities, this is the greenest campsite I have experienced.
There is a child's playground which includes a flying-fox, a giant chess board, swings and plenty of room for ball games.
A shop and games room, neither of which we used, as we were only there for two nights, through the window I could see a t.V. A pool table and a games machine.
The toilet/shower block is modern, clean and well maintained. It consists of 5 shower cubicles and disabled shower room in the gents along with well cleaned toilets. Plenty of hot water. A dish wash area, with 6 sinks. A laundry room and a chemical waste disposable point.

Managed to get a pitch here for 1 night at short notice (£23 - 2 adults, 2 children no electric). On arrival staff seemed very friendly and helpful, as it was a 1 night stop over I didn't have need to speak with the staff after that. The shower block was clean and warm. There were showers and private wash basin cubicles in the ladies loos. The private shower rooms, of which there were about 5 at the front of the shower block with direct access from the courtyard, were particularly good. Water was nice and hot and plentiful. There was a small shop which seemed to cater for the essentials and in the mornings they have a cafe/takeaway service for breakfasts which we were looking forward to but sadly was closed the day we were there due to illness. They have a play area with slide and wooden climbing frame type affair on it and also a giant chess set which my boys enjoyed playing with. Pitches are numbered and separated by little marker posts. The pitch we were on was closest to the entrance and of a 'small/medium' size (you would struggle with anything bigger than a 4 man vis-a-vis type tent plus your car on it but other pitches seemed much bigger and there were plenty of large tents around the site. I'd recommend discussing the size of your tent/pitch when you book as some areas did seem more tightly packed than others. As I say our pitch was very sheltered and although it was apparently a very windy night we didn't notice in our little 4 man dome but others around the site were commenting on how windy it had been. I can imagine those on the coastal side of the park may have been battered around a bit. The site benefits from an hourly bus to and from St Ives (£1 per adult, 50p per child or £3 family) The buses take a 3 hour break from midday but then run late into the night so you can go down into town for a meal if you like. Friends of ours had stayed at this site the year before and had had a great 2 weeks. Sadly we didn't have time to try them but I can remember them telling us what lovely walks you can do from the site. Overall I'd rate this as a very good site. Not my favourite in the area I must admit, but I would happily return there.

We stayed here at the end of June this year, as we were directed here from their sister site Ayr holiday park, reason being that they do not allow short stays. We found the staff very unfriendly and when we asked for a pitch we were just told to drive around and choose one, then when we chose a couple we were told that the majority of the pitches were one night only! So we ended up in the corner were the pitch next to us had 3 tents on 1 pitch with 3 vehicles then the following day a trailer tent arrived with 4 cars. The spaces between the pitch don't seem to be big enough. The cafe they are meant to have was not open neither was the shop.

We visited his site in August 2006 and were impressed by the pitches, facilities and position of the site. There was a fabulous walk to the cliff edge, with informative sign posts and information. The shower facilities were excellent and well maintained. There were plenty of showers in the main block and separate shower/toilet/sink units too. The washing up section was adequate, however there were only 4 sinks, so sometimes it was necessary to queue. The site shop was fairly limited and expensive (as they usually are) and the breakfast bar was good, although again quite pricey. There was a newspaper van came every morning which was handy. The bus into St Ives was a godsend, as parking in St Ives is nigh on impossible. The bus was reasonable and ran every hour.
It has to be said that the staff were NOT THE FRIENDLIEST! They seemed preoccupied with the business and money management aspect of things rather than friendly customer service. This lack of warmth was very apparent when talking to other users, it was a shame really to say they have such a high number of clients and such a beautiful place to live! The TV room had a ping pong table and a few games etc, it was ok, but strictly locked at 10pm! Overall Rating B+

We were directed to stay here because the main site in St.Ives (Ayr Park) was overbooked, plus Ayr Park doesn't allow short stay bookings (A real pain with most big sites) Anyway i've stayed here twice and on the positive side it has a great bus service into Town, has great pitches, has a nice little cafe and is situated in a fantastic area, also as I said earlier you can book in advance for short stays, Unlike Ayr Park! Unfortunately though on the downside, the staff do seem a little unfriendly, the facilities are pretty atrocious (toilet block gets way overcrowded and is way to small for the size of the site) and the site is way to expensive. For a family of 7? over £90.00 for 3 nights! Extortionate considering this is for 2 adults and 5 kids under 13. Not a bad site overall if you're prepared to pay, and can put up with the facilities!
