Booking of this site was very efficient with friendly guy on the phone and they booked our ferry for us too at a good discount. Watch out though because WightLink are very fussy about the length of your caravan. The discount was needed because this is a very OVERPRICED site. It was just under £40 per pitch per night. The reason we were willing to pay this was because of the facilities on site. However, these turned out to be quite disappointing. The playground is superb, but the pool is rubbish. Very shallow (thigh heigh for an adult) and no changing facilities. The site advertises a water slide. However, like with another Park Resorts site we visited a couple of years ago, it is never open because they are 'understaffed'. This is not acceptable when you pay a premium of £40. There is a nice indoor pool but it has a maximum capacity which is regularly met and so there is a queue. Unfortunately it's got a very hot room temperature and so you sweat when changing in one of the 2 cubicles! For some reason the pools closed quite early by 5:30pm - this means you can't get in from a nice day out and then dive in the pool (although you'd hit your head if you tried).
As usual with Park Resorts, you get the constant annoying adverts everywhere you go, even when sitting on the loo, suggesting that a tourer is not good enough and that we should upgrade to holiday homes - have they not realised that we are happy being able to go to different places.
Our pitches were lovely - at the top of the hill with cracking views and plenty of space (about double pitch size), although a bit windy. We were lucky though because some of the other pitches were quite a bit smaller and crammed in.
Restaurant is very poor - all microwaved pre-prepared meals - couldn't be bothered to complain because you have to stand at the bar waiting for so long. Entertainment is cheesy and poor and bingo just seems to take over everything.
Will not go to this site again. If we go to IoW again (lovely place to visit) then we will choose something independent with a swimming pool - there's no point paying for a slide if it doesn't exist.
Toilets and showers are top notch by the way.

Just had a week here. Would recommend this site. Very reasonable rates for what on offer (indoor and outdoor swimming pool and entertainment of an evening). Toilets very good. Launderette and site shop.
Unfortunately rained all week so not able to enjoy as we could have but would come back here.
Not impressed with Shanklin Town or Sandown Town. Seems as though they have been let go over the last few years. Shame.

We arrived early at the site after a very pleasant, and sunny trip from home, Lincoln, and Ferry from Southampton.
Me and my wife had come to the IOW for our honeymoon, but we did not have a lot of spare money after paying for the holiday.
I had requested access for disabled and we could not secure this before arrival.
Upon arrival a rather tired looking, and obviously agitated member of staff upgraded? us to a chalet.
Initially we were happy with this even though we had to wait a while for it to be prepared for us.
Once we were settled down we found that the TV, which was quite old, kept switching off, this could only be replaced the following day.
The chalet itself was quite nice, but some of the cleaning was shoddy, for example dust on the fire and stains on the walls, and in the kitchen.
Also the bath was very small with no shower this made it hard for me, limited walking, to use.
The facilities at the park included an outside swimming pool(closed), and indoor pool, bar and restaurant, large play areas, and on site shop.
We did not eat at the site and found the shop quite expensive, so we bought food in or ate out.
The area around Lower Hyde was not very well sign posted which made the site itself hard to find.
I do recommend a holiday on the IOW, but Lower Hyde needs a a facelift and some updating.

The location of the park was fantastic, smack bang in the middle of Shanklin and Sandown. Big Lidl right next door made shopping easy (there is a well stocked shop on the site but we didn't use it as cheaper to go to Lidl) and the facilities on the park are great for children BUT despite being camped on a lovely pitch I will never go there again. I don't mind a bit of mould in the showers (and there was plenty of hot water) but the toilets were vile - faeces encrusted toilet brushes in all the loos, no toilet paper, sinks full of toilet roll. Yuk! You cannot clean the toilets once a day in a place that size and that busy and those toilet brushes should be consigned to the bin

This is the second year in a row that we have been to this site during the Whitsun week. Because we have been there twice is not a reflection of the site itself.
Party size was 5 adults 3 children 1 infant
When we got there we were given a pitch which was right in the middle of cross-roads in the touring area and with a toddler we asked to be moved, which they did with no hassle whatsoever.
The pitches are HUGE! we have a Khyam Quebec 8 Deluxe and we managed to erect this lengthways across the pitch with room for 2 cars in front of that. The pitches are well maintained with good access to all areas of the 'touring' area. Toilet facilities are excellent they are cleaned over night as I found out! (but the facilities do not shut) so there are no closures during the day, which is welcoming. The toilets were abused by (I assume) the younger members (teens) of the campsite, however after the daily clean it was if they hadn't been there. The showers always had hot water, I had showers at different times during the day depending on how lazy I was feeling. The one thing I would say is that the shower's drainage needs to be improved. The cubicles are fine in size but the water seems to 'puddle' right upto the door so there is not a lot of space (if any!) to dry off, but that is a small point in generally a well maintained facility.
During our stay we had a powercut which was only noticed by my wife on returning from visiting family members. After a quick call to the security and a few checks were made we regained power within 30 mins. Which was a far cry from the previous year. Perhaps we were just unlucky but we were pitched in plot 52 (last year 53!) and the fuse for the block of EHU's went and it took them all night to recover the power. The site did compensate us for the loss of food in the fridge which was well received.
The site itself as a previous poster has described is all very car friendly and not so pedestrian friendly. There are no walkways for pedestrians leading upto the main entertainment/clubhouse. There is a tight 90 degree turn in the road which is basically wide enough for one car. This needs to improve! The car park for the reception is tiny and very cramped with cars seeming to park there all the time which makes check-in quite a hassle.
The food on site is nice, we only ate there once for breakfast and it was enjoyable and reasonably priced too.
The swimming pools are OK the indoor one is not very clean or big. The outdoor one is cleaner and bigger but I am lead to believe this one is only open during certain seasons.
All the other facilities in the clubhouse we did not use so can't comment.
Other accommodation on the site are well maintained, we had family stay in statics and signature lodges which were immaculate, mind you at the prices they charge you would hope they would be!
The reason we went back there again this year was due to a severe compaint one of our party had with a static they were staying in, it was infested and I mean infested with Ants! They compained 6 times (once each day of the holiday) until finally they were re-located to a signature lodge for one night before departure and as a good will gesture the park offered them a 'FREE' holiday this year. So that's exactly what they did.
The site is well located within 5 mins walk to Shanklin town, which has a string of shops and pubs. I can recommend 'The Crab' in town, it serves great food and very reasonably priced too.
Sandown has a lovely beach which we used 4 times out of the 8 days we were there.
We also went to a new attraction 'Owl and Monkey Sanctuary', although for its current size the entry fee was a little steep it is new and I don't mind helping them get started as it is obvious they're are constantly growing. I would however like to see more walkways around the park as its not necessarily wheelchair/buggy friendly on all of the attractions.
All-in-all the 'touring' section is a good clean area with good facilities we have now been there twice so we are likely to book else where next year.

Booked for the week before half term as would be quieter.
Great size pitches. They are stated as 9x9m but they are bigger than this. We had plenty of room for our tent and car along with electric hook up.
Toilet block was really nice, well maintained. Good idea to request pitches near the toilet block if you have young children.
Was disappointed with indoor pool, was more of a paddling pool. But the outdoor pool was nice. Was also disappointed by the entertainment building facilities. Bar is quiet small for size of holiday park. And the toilets in the show bar were horrible. Half leaking or no doors, or locks broken. Entertainment was ok.
It was really windy while we were there. Worth asking for a sheltered spot if available, thought the tent might take off!
Enjoyed the campsite and facilities, but was not impressed by the main building. Would not visit again.
Oh, visited Landgaurd next door to use pool. It was a good size, but really busy so they were on a one in one out basis. So was disappointed and went back to the lower hyde to use the pool.

Bit late for a review from last year but here goes anyway.
Family of four, with a 7 year old and a 3 year old and site was good enough that we have rebooked for a week this year.
Pros :
Pitches large and plenty of space for tent, car and social area.
Toilet block new (see cons though)
Club house providing good entertainment and kids loved it.
Good kids play area, however not near tenting area.
Cons:
Pitching area uninspiring, could do with some character.
Toilet block often dirty and rarely had hot water. Complained and was told boiler not working correctly.
Terrible wasp problem, but seemed to be the whole island to be fair.
No play area near the camping area.
Now that seems like a lot of negatives but for us we found that with bad weather the clubhouse was a godsend.
The Isle of Wight is a great family getaway with a lot to do without needing to travel far (what with the sea making that tricky:)
We are going again and hope to get some better weather to enjoy the beaches which we only got to use for one day in a wet fortnight last year!

Just spent a week here in lower Hyde in middle week of September, surprised to see so many people around for the off peak season.
Facilities
Recently new build toilet, shower block, with bath, big touring pitch space with electric, aerial point, water point. Club house, restaurant, outdoor pool closed due to time of year.
Out and about
Visited the steam railway - disappointing, Amazon zoo - great for kids, Needles Point - nice views, model village - great for kids, Sandown pier - nice beach, all within 3/4 hour drive from park
Its been a great experience visiting the isle of Wight and would recommend

When we arrived at this site our first thoughts was that it was a good site. It was clean and tidy. The people in reception were helpful and our check in time of 2.30 was correct.
We stayed in a Gold standard caravan on 'Island View' which was about a 5 minute walk from the reception and facilities.
Our caravan was clean, tidy and in good condition with fresh clean sheets. Everything was in good working order.
After unpacking we headed for the outdoor pool, it was quite small with a nice water flume. We ignored the leaves and two dead wasps floating in it!
The indoor pool is also small but the deep end is 1.5m so quite deep for smaller children. This pool could do with a nice water slide.
The spa is ok and again quite deep for the children.
The restaurant has a wide range of food at very reasonable prices, although we only ate there on one occasion the food we had was nice, it seemed to be busy and popular.
The artificial sports pitches are good and very popular with the children. Ideally all of the goals could have proper nets.
The club gets very busy at night, so if you are not in there by 8pm you won't find a table for 2-3 people who want to sit together.
The drinks prices are reasonable.
The children's entertainment was a bit flat. There were some good bits such as the character plays on stage.
The entertainment team worked hard however it would be nice to see them in some sort of smart uniform.
Bingo was worse than we thought. When they said the bingo will start they started going on about the fire exit they talked some more about the bingo then he said about the fire exit again! The bingo was a line for each of the tickets except the flyer. Its usually for the first tickets are a line a full house through the game.
But it was good.
The worst part about the site is that there are no pavements leading from the reception area to the caravans. There is a sharp bend by the outdoor pool so walking by this with cars about was quite dangerous.
After our holiday we agreed that the site was good overall, clean and tidy in a great location on the island.
We would go back again one day.

We went with friends as our main family holiday to this site in what turned out to be the worst weather in many years.
On arrival you'll be sent to the tent area office near the toilet blocks and showers where you'll be sited. We booked two pitches together and there were no allocation problems. There are cards in your pack that you will need to get into the clubhouse so keep them safe - spares issued on request.
The pitches were very generous (pitching a Montana 6 + extension and a Kalahari 10 + extension) and ours were level, ample room for a trailer each and the cars parked at the front. Unfortunately we stayed during a deluge and the pitches didn't drain well and became boggy however this was exceptional weather with several storm warnings during our stay.
The site has a warden during the day and is lit on an evening and patrolled occasionally by security.
Toilet blocks - there is a main block and two portakabin blocks all with toilets, showers and wash hand basins. These were cleaned every day around lunchtime but soon need doing again due to kids throwing toilet rolls around (which were not always topped up so take a spare). The main toilet block has an indoor pot wash to the rear. Some of the showers in the main block don't drain particularly well so be careful. A couple of days into our holiday the hot water packed in in the main block. We told the office who said it was the pump. This couldn't have been the case as there was hot water at 7am, 3pm and very late evening, Basically the system can't cope with the demand. The portakabins had hot water but these packed in a day or so later meaning cold showers all round. The pot wash runs off the main block hot water so the pot wash was cold too. We resorted to boiling water and washing pots at the tent - the showers we just had to brave - not nice considering there were 6 kids between us. This never got resolved during our stay as there were problems getting parts they said and it became very much a game of chance as to whether there would be hot water or not. This was a constant problem during our visit.
The tent area is situated at the opposite end of the site to the clubouse, amusements, shop (well stocked but expensive), takeaways, pool and main office. The pool has a slide and is pretty good for the kids considering the size. There is a park which is also good for the kids up to teenagers. Shanklin is literally 5 minutes away by car with a beautiful beach and definitely worth a visit as are many villages on the isle. Watch out for vouchers in your packs for money off local attractions (these can be pricey so budget for them if you're day tripping) but nowhere is really far away on the island.
Our experience would have been much better if the hot water hadn't worked so intermittently and really soured our stay. We complained to the site when we got back it was such an issue. Provided this problem is rectified this would be a decent place to camp.
The clubhouse entertainment for the kids on an evening was good as you'd expect from a big chain in peak season.
The park had plenty for the kids but the rain largely prevented these being used much.
All in all, lovely island, fair site but a disappointing experience for such a big chain that couldn't resolve the hot water problem.
