Access to this site really is quite simple. Turn off the A391 onto the wide entrance to the lane that takes you behind the football ground to the site entrance.
The lane is not very long, but the CC ask that new arrivals come after 1pm as there are no passing places.
At the time of our stay the warden team were rather humourless and exchanging pleasantries was out of the question. However, booking in was efficient.
The site is level, and is mostly well drained hard standings, the grass pitches not being in use this late in the season.
As always with a CC site the toilet block was well presented and spotlessly clean. Reception do not sell anything, though there is a Tesco Express within a stones throw from the site.
Cheddar village and The Gorge are a short walk away, but for any sort of big shop you'll need to head for Weston or Wells for a decent sized supermarket (though excellent fruit and vedge can be purchased at the roadside shops in Rodney Stoke).
The site has no play area or dog walk, and this is the first time that my Status has let me down (TV hook up is available on the bollards, but you'll need a lead).

Stayed as a bit of a last minute thing to give the van an airing before the summer started. Arrived at about 7:00 on Sat night and the really helpful warden gave us the choice of the last remaining 3 pitches and also offered the larger disabled pitch that wasn't being used that evening, right by the toilets which was great. Site very clean and tidy and the toilets spotless as previously mentioned - only thing I don't really understand is why there is a lock on the toilet door - do they really have to be made secure to that extent?
Walked into the village and ate in the Waterside Pub which is about 10 mins away - just walk into the village, turn right at the monument thing and keep walking. A reasonable meal and a nice atmosphere. Had breakfast at the football club next morning - looks a bit dodgy on first impression, but the brekkie was actually very nice and a reasonable price. Spent the rest of the day walking around the top of the gorge on the gorge walk - best way to see it is from above and a nice afternoon. All in all this site is a good place for a stop over and well up to the standards of the CC

The usual high standard facilities of a Caravan Club, this is a compact site on the edge of Cheddar village. Handy location for visiting Cheddar Gorge and the tourist spots of Somerset.
We spent four nights here just after the Easter weekend in the school holidays, two family groups in two vans. Although rather cold most of the time we enjoyed our stay.
We visited Cheddar Gorge and I would recommend walking the mile or so to the start of the gorge and saving the £5 on parking. We also bought the family ticket at the site at the discount price. The gorge is a mix of spell bounding natural lime stone caves, dramatic scenery and a host of tea shops, cider stores and tourist shops. Being a cold Easter it was not too busy but I can
Imagine it is rather solid with people in the summer.
We made a visit to Wells taking in an excellent three mile walk around Tor Hill above the town collecting Geo Caches and having a picnic while admiring the view of the Somerset panorama. We also took in a visit to the magnificent historic Wells Cathedral. We also had another day out at Bath taking in the Roman Baths and views round the city.
From the site there are easily accessible fields for country walks and a place to let your dog stretch their legs. Within walking distance are two supermarkets and numerous eateries in the village, the Budgens has an excellent high quality
Butcher within selling great pasties and pies. There were few more aspects that we did not take in such as Wookey Hole, Weston-Super-Mare and many quaint villages and other wonderful Somerset
Locations to drop into.
In common with Caravan Club sites the layout is ordered with good sized pitches with the usual array of rules. There are sixty-four pitches with about two thirds being gravel pitches all the pitches have electric hook up and TV points. The
Amenities are well maintained and a good standard. If you want to know exactly what to expect and want the reliable regimentation of Caravan Club this site ticks the boxes.
Great location for visiting Cheddar and West Somerset, for those who like the conformism of Caravan Club.

Cheddar CC site is quite compact, but the mix of grass and hard-standings gives it a more open feel than some sites. Facilities are of course to the usual CC standard.
There is a strict 1pm arrival, 12 noon departure policy - with good reason, as the access road is very narrow for a short stretch with a blind bend.
We found the Cheddar Gorge area itself a bit disappointing with the village end highly touristy. We didn’t however visit the caves so can’t rate these as an attraction.
The highlight of our stay here though was a visit to Wells. Not knowing anything much about the town beforehand, we thought we would allow an hour to see the Cathedral.
We in fact spent six hours (had to update the parking ticket twice!) there on a hot sunny day (in June!) and thought the Cathedral and especially the Bishop’s Palace gardens wonderful!
Do not miss Wells if you are in the area!

We are currently staying at Cheddar and have two more days to go and we'll be sorry when we have to leave! this is a great little site, although small it is well laid out and very well looked after by the really friendly wardens.
The site is in a great location for Cheddar Gorge which is approximately a 10 - 15 minute stroll through the village (use the footpath into Cheddar as the road has no pavement)
It is also very well placed for all the attractions in Somerset such as Wookey Hole, Wells and Glastonbury, the coast Burnham & Weston are not too far either.
The toilet facilities are spotless although the shower cubicles are on the small side, even though the site is relatively full it doesn't feel that way at all !
There is a bit of road noise to be heard from the first hard standing pitches but it is not unacceptable. The access road is a bit of a problem and I wouldn't like to encounter another outfit going the opposite direction.
There are no play areas for the children, I think this tends to be a more adult orientated site but all things being equal it's a little gem !

We are currently on this site, very well laid out,
Walking distance to cheddar town and caves,
Pitches well spaced, immaculate kept,
Toilets spotless,
Very narrow access road so no arrival before 1:00pm, the main road into cheddar is currently partially blocked with temporary traffic lights, causing complete mayhem at peek times, blocking traffic through the town and over the narrow bridge by the site entrance,
Good food and beer and a friendly welcome from the football club next door recommended, be warned the football club and grounds have been sold to tesco for development so in the future you will have a supermarket and petrol station the other side of the boundary fence.
I just hope it won't spoil a cracking site

This was our third visit to this C. C. Site and was exactly what you would expect. Spotlessly clean and tidy.
We had a minor emergency which meant we arrived 1 hour early and needed to get into Cheddar Village immediately. Warden told us to unhitch, go and sort our problem and he would sort the van. Good man.
If you follow the directions in the Site Directory you will be ok but the entrance is easy to miss.
This is a lovely site, especially in good weather however it is fairly open and the pitches seem very close together. Just a small grass strip between. On the plus side the pitches seemed very big to us.
There is no children's play area or dog walk but there are some facilities quite close.
The toilets are kept locked but you are given keys on arrival. They do shut at 10:30 for cleaning which I don't think is early, it's almost halfway through the day. We did think the showers were very small which affects the score.
Cheddar village is about 10 minutes walk from the site. There doesn't appear to be any independent butchers, bakers or greengrocers but there is a good Budgen's store and a large hardware store.
There are pubs, restaurants and tea rooms in the village but we didn't use them.
You can walk through the village to Cheddar Gorge in about 15/20 minutes so leave the car behind. It's easier and saves parking fees.
The Gorge is worth a visit but be warned the first
Part is pretty tacky. Saying that we did buy some lovely cider and there was cheesemaking to see.
Get past the tat and into the Gorge proper and it's quite spectacular but watch out for traffic.
A good day out is walking around the top of the Gorge, along one side and back on the other.
Tyntesfield is a good day, lovely house and lovely gardens.
Weston-Super-Mare is close but has seen better days. There is quite a big shopping centre, The front is the nicest part but is quite busy. Seatons restaurant, close to the pier near the pedestrianised part, is well worth a visit.
I had a superb cottage pie with a mass of veg and Wife had fish which she said was excellent.
There are lots of other attractions in the area and there is a local info shed on site.
This is a good site and we shall go back.
You can even hear the sea lions at night.

We had a great week here in April, 2 adults & 2 children. It's nicely laid out and nobody is very far from the toilet & shower facilities which were usual CC standard and kept lovely and clean.
The only downside for us was that there wasn't a children's play area or ball games area for my 10 year old, but the football ground next door was available to play ball games on and the site is very close to everything that Cheddar has to offer.
There's a van that calls every morning selling bread, milk, eggs, sweets, fruit, newspapers, etc., this was very handy one morning when we ran out of milk. There is also a Tesco Express about a 10 minute walk away, that would cover most needs and a bigger supermarket just a bit further away.
All in all a lovely little site.

Great site but nearly always full
Walking distance to Cheddar on footpath.
No Childrens play area.
Great dog walk just turn left at site entrance walk 100yds and you are in fields by a stream and the footpaths go for miles. Also when the nights are dark the first bit of grass you come to is lit by the street lights on the foot path to town.
Easy access by car to Beaches and attractions such as Wells, Wookey hole and on foot to the Gorge.
Usual high club standards of facilities and service.
Mobile paper van etc. Comes about 9am.

Just returned from Easter weekend at this lovely well run club site. It's just what you expect from a club site but without the frills - no play area for children and no dog walk on site (although there are plenty of opportunities directly from the site); as usual the wardens work hard to keep the site up to scratch and even though it's been full all weekend the facilities were never over stretched (just a queue for the showers one morning). If you pick the right pitch you get great views of the mendip hills in one direction and sun for most of the day. We were on pitch 53 which was ideal. No shop to speak of but there is a Budgens and a Tesco Express within 5 minutes walk of the site. It's an easy walk into Cheddar village so leave your car on site and avoid the traffic jams!
We will definitely return if visiting the area again.
