Just returned from Easter weekend at this lovely well run club site. It's just what you expect from a club site but without the frills - no play area for children and no dog walk on site (although there are plenty of opportunities directly from the site); as usual the wardens work hard to keep the site up to scratch and even though it's been full all weekend the facilities were never over stretched (just a queue for the showers one morning). If you pick the right pitch you get great views of the mendip hills in one direction and sun for most of the day. We were on pitch 53 which was ideal. No shop to speak of but there is a Budgens and a Tesco Express within 5 minutes walk of the site. It's an easy walk into Cheddar village so leave your car on site and avoid the traffic jams!
We will definitely return if visiting the area again.

Just spent two nights here with our grandchildren.
Facilities are typical of Caravan Club sites, friendly wardens,
Close to cheddar gorge and all local shops
We had a great weekend with the kids 3 and 4 years old. Only one moan - no play area for kids however plenty to do off site
Cycle path just outside camp entrance that takes you straight in to cheddar.
Would stay again.

Stopped for 2 nights on the way down to Cornwall.
Followed directions in CC site book and found the site as directed (don't trust sat navs!)
Friendly welcome including being told which pitches were still vacant, why can't all CC sites do this as it saves driving round and round the site.
Good facilities on site, mix of fixed and adjustable showers to please all.
Good walking from site onto riverside paths and into village. Good choice of shops / pub / takeaways etc.
Overall a nice quiet site, well located for visiting Cheddar village and the gorge. Will be revisiting and spending more time here next time

Great site situated 5 mins walk from the center of Cheddar. The entrance is a bit hard to spot and is right next to the entrance to Cheddar Bridge Touring Park. We only stayed a couple of nights but thoroughly enjoyed it.
Shower/Toilet block was spotlessly clean as was the rest of the site, good washing up facilities as well. Would definitely stay here again as we didn't get to see everything cheddar had to offer in our short stay.

What a fabulous site, Adults only, very friendly owners. Lovely location within in ten minutes of the gorge and its attractions although you could be miles away. We had a week there and the weather was good. Pitched a very large tent in record time and settled in to a fabulous week.
The church bells can be a bit disconcerting at times but when they don't chime I missed them. The birds get up early there so be prepared for a wake up call at about 5pm. The dog loved the river and took a swim most days There are a few ducks and geese roaming about but they don't bother you.
This site is very clean and well looked after There may not be enough showers but what there are are beautifully clean and well looked after. I must admit I didn't have to wait any time to get a shower. Definitely a site to visit for a peaceful(forgetting the bells) week away Definitely recommend this site and give it a ten out of ten

Exe Valley Caravan Site - Exmoor
This award winning Adults Only campsite has a working 17th century watermill in a peaceful wooded valley within the Exmoor National Park. Grass and hardstanding pitches, all set beside the River Exe or the sparkling mill stream, with electric, water, drainage, and TV hook-ups. A leisurely stroll up to a weir, and an area where dogs may run free and splash in the river.
Facilities include the beautiful dog walk, free wifi, fishing, modern toilet and shower block, dog wash, working watermill (tours on most Sunday mornings), salmon pass on the weir, shop, bus service, and excellent pubs in the locality. The site has beautiful views, an abundance of wildlife and many footpaths leading directly to the Exmoor woodlands and rivers. Find out more here

We spent a week at this lovely site. The entrance was not well sign posted as we drove past the entrance and had to turn around - the Sat Nav didn't help matters either! We arrived earlier than you were supposed to but the staff were very helpful in letting us pitch - if it had been in peak period we would have not been able to do this but top marks for their help.
The site is well laid out with large level pitches. The toilets and facilities were immaculate, the only negative is that the toilets are closed from 1030 - 1200 for cleaning so if you wanted to shower you would have to get there early. I did notice when we left, the disabled toilet was opened for use whilst the main toilets were being cleaned.
Cheddar is a beautiful village / town, there is a wonderful pub called the Riverside - which offers superb food, choice of beverages and welcoming staff. Whilst we were there, they did a Steak night on Sun / Mon evenings - 2 steaks with a bottle of wine per couple for £20 - you can double the size of your steak for only £2.50 extra which we did! In fact the food was so good we ate there on 2 other occasions, choosing from their credit crunch menu of 2 meals for £12. Very good value for money.
The fish and chip shop in the heart of the village near the caves serves some of the best fish and chips we have ever tasted and if you ask for large you get LARGE.
The village itself offers something for everyone, from the caves to museums to cider shops to cheese tasting! The Cheddar Cheese Company shop is well worth a visit - you can even see Cheese being made for a small fee - they have about 20 different cheeses to sample and buy in the shop as well as some locally produced preserves.
Apart from Cheddar, there is a whole host of places to go and things to do. We visited Wookey Hole Caves and Clarks shopping village in Street as well as a day out in Weston-Super-Mare, which has the potential to have a fantastic sea front when all the renovations have been completed. Unfortunately on our visit the whole sea front was a work site. The shopping centre is very good but as for the Weston Wheel - my hamster had a bigger one! Haha!
All in all we had a great time even if the weather let us down at times - we would go again and use this site.

Lovely site, we arrived early afternoon, and only had the choice of two pitches. The site operates a first come, first pick basis. All pitches are in a good position, but the pitches on the right when you drive in, back on to the sports ground and the noise from the games can be loud on an afternoon, also there was some loud shouting late one evening coming from the bar which is situated in the sports club area. None of this was a problem, it was just one evening at closing time.
When you arrive somebody has to stay in the vehicle, my husband booked us in, but I decided to pop my head in and was told quite sternly to stay with my vehicle, this is due to having a small entrance and waiting area, so I understood the reason why. This wasn't from the wardens who are lovely and friendly, but another member of staff.
The site is lovely, seems very new, all pitches are hard standing, they seemed to stop using the grass pitches in the winter but may use them during summer. The toilet and shower blocks were spotless, always stocked up, four showers, plenty of toilets and hand basin's. You will need a key to get in which is given to you when you book in.
There is only one gripe I had, which was that they closed the toilet block at 10.30am to 12 noon to clean, I thought this was far to early, if the site is full, you have to be up at the crack of dawn to get a shower in before they shut.
There isn't much of a shop, but I think they are building up to this. The site is digital and have aerial points but you will need either a digital box or a TV with it in to watch TV.
The site is situated in a good position and is within easy walking distance of the town. There is a lovely pub, which is the first one you will see, it does a lovely Sunday carvery, a good menu selection and allows dogs in to the bar area, which was great for us with our two.
The tourist part of the town is a further walk, but there you will find plenty of eating places, take always and tourist shops. Cheddar is very dog friendly, you can take them down in to the caves, and all other tourist spots. The Tiny Tea Room opposite the caves is worth a visit, it is very small hence the name, but they have an incredible menu, and do the most wonderful deserts.
The caves are worth a visit, It is £17 to get in, but this is the price for all the caves in the area, museums, the tower walk and open top bus tour, the good thing about this is that if the weather is not good, you have 10 years to use the rest of the ticket and complete the attractions.
I would say to do your shopping before you arrive, there is a Budgens and Tesco Express, but both are small and expensive and don't offer a huge selection, the nearest supermarket is in Weston Super Mare. This was a lovely break, lovely site and a great place to visit and I would definitely go back and stay again.

A pleasant little site within walking distance of Cheddar village with useful shops such as Tescos and Budgens. We were welcomed on site by very cheerful wardens and allowed to chose where we wanted to park.
The site facilities were spotlessly clean but let down by the cramped shower cubicles - not what I usually expect from the Caravan Club. The site is quite quiet and one night we enjoyed listening to bell ringing practice from the nearby church. There were some young children staying on the park but I didn't see anywhere for them to play.
We visited the Cheddar Caves and although, very interesting we thought the entrance fee was excessive(£17.00 per adult less club discount)for what there was to see. Would recommend driving up to Tyntesfield for the day though.

All you expect from a Caravan Club site and lovely and close to Cheddar with all its amenities and would love to return. However there were no hardstandings left when we arrived, only about 3pm, and as it has been raining for some days we were concerned as we had to pitch on grass in the centre. As well as not having any privacy we made a very good imprint onto the ground when we left after 2 nights.

Only stayed one night on this site but found it very clean & tidy and Wardens very friendly. Walked into the village via the bridge (in the dark) as suggested by the Warden as he told us the road way could be dangerous for pedestrians. Decided to walk back via the road as we were not happy with the isolation of the foot paths We had a meal at the Bath Arms Hotel-not to be recommended and the toilets were a disgrace. We would stay on this site again but not so late in the season.
