We have just had 4 nights at this site, we have been to the area 3 times, first time at the CC site- it is very clean and fresh, that grass is nearly ready for use, last night Thursday the bell ringers where practicing in the church and it was a treat to listen. Cheddar is a very special place, I love it, you have the local shops near the site, 5 mins down road, or cycle track and then the Gorge shops and things to see. We rode our bikes around the resovior, we went by the cycle track round the school, rode down by the leisure centre, turn right by the tyre suppliers the track is at the top of the Ind Est. When you pass under the bridge, either walk up the overgrown steps or walk 20ft and walk up the slope. Turn right at the road and pass the church to the fantastic resovoir bike ride. We loved it. If you go through the exit near the boats you can ride into Axbridge.

This is a small site still being developed. Unfortunately the grass sown has not grown and so grass pitches were not being used and the narrowness of the roads made it difficult not to go over the edges onto the new grass that there was. The new toilet block is nice but annoyingly needs a key and the showers are very cramped. From the site there is a walk into Cheddar which has a variety of places to eat and a supermarket. Hopefully once the grass has established the site will look more finished. P.S. They came to tarmac the roads at 7.30 a.m. the morning we left so this should help.

August 2004 Lovely level site, close to everything, within walking distance of the Gorge. The site and facilities were modern, clean and tidy. The kids had the freedom to run around in safety. The lady owner was always very helpful and despite being busy nothing was too much trouble.
There is a footpath into the village (with some nice views of the hills) if you turn left out of the site and go along by the stream up to the old railway bridge. This avoids the main road where there is no footpath.
We enjoyed our stay at this site very much.

June 2004 The hairy walk into town can be avoided by going along a footpath / cycle track at the back of the site & cutting through by some houses - takes about 5 mins longer. The toilets etc were cleaned regularly while I was there but the site was very busy so understandably they were sometimes a bit of a mess. The electricity £2 is unmetered on the grass pitches but on the hardstandings on the other side the £2 gets a card with 10 Kwh on - this lasted me 4 nights but I wasn't running a heater, only fridge kettle & lamp. The hook ups are 16 amp. Excellent site for visiting the Gorge on foot as right near the village, handy for shops banks etc. The dog loved the long walks & the occasional swim in the stream. I would recommend this site.

April 2004 Very pleasant site on a nice flat field! The walk into Cheddar is a bit hairy but only takes a few minutes. There is a nice footpath alogside the camp which follows a stream (great for the dogs!)
Only 2 minor complaints..the booking system is a bit haphazard nobody seemed to know if there were any spare pitches and it took a few 'phone calls to sort out and we ended up stuck in a corner of the site by the bin store which wasn't too bad in April, but might not be so good later in the year.
Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend the site!

September 2003 Conveniently located site for cheddar which is only a short walk (although the first part is a bit hairy as there is no pavement). There were 2 fairly large areas - a tarmac road runs round each & it's quite organised, although when we arrived it was very quiet and we were told to pitch anywhere we wanted.
There is a toilet / shower block which has a digi-lock entry system. Showers cost 20p for 3.5 minutes - you have to be organised as the time starts ticking as soon as you enter the money (into slot outside shower - so make sure you put enough in!) Showers were hot. Toilet block was reasonably clean although I saw no evidence of it being cleaned whilst I was there (2 nights). There is a washing machine / drier available, washing-up point and waste-disposal point.
Although the site itself was fairly quite, it backs onto the local football ground and it was quite noisy on the saturday eve. Also a bit of road noise but this wasn't so bad later in the evening. A compromise for being so close to cheddar!
