Small but charming site just outside Barnard Castle. Showers and toilets were very clean. We were on grass and had plenty of room. If you want hard standing ask when booking.
The lane down is quite narrow but does have two passing places. All sorts of wildlife to be seen and heard. Woodland walk to Barney was great, also a riverside walk to Lartington Hall.
We had to pay a little extra for children which I don't like to do as our kids are well behaved at all times.
It's a small site, so call and book before setting off, Enjoy.

Just spent a long weekend here. Me, my husband, son age 11 and daughter age 8. Site is wonderfully quiet, the only sounds we heard were the Owl and the morning Birdsong - both lovely sounds! Showers were the best campsite showers I have come across - nice and hot, and good water flow! Plenty of walks - we did the round route to the Hall, and walked along the woodland path to Barney. Campsite owners were friendly and unobtrusive. We stayed on pitch number 11, which was around the corner on the grass. Pitches are easy to access and plenty of room to move or shuffle your van about. Would recommend and I think we'll return!

Just been this weekend and thoroughly enjoyed the site.
Goes straight into our top 5 sites and we have booked to return in two weeks time. £13 / night inc hook up, extra pound per night for awning. Good for dogs with superb old railway or woodland walks.
Request that you don't use ground sheets but you can if you need to.
Lovely old farm and ultra quiet apart from birdsong and a couple of owls.

I was in two minds whether to give this site a review, other people may come to look for it and I'll not be able to get booked in again!
It's a fantastic hidden gem. We stayed on pitch number 1, the amount of space we had was amazing. Lots of shrubbery to screen the pitches off and very level.
It's a basic site, with toilets and showers in a sort of barn conversion, which are immaculately clean. Showers are a little strange, a block of unisex cubicles, which although very secure, some people may find them a little uncomfortable.
It's a working family farm, so staff are not at hand full time, but they're very friendly.
It's three miles from the market town of Barnard Castle and just beyond, Bowes Museum, which was built as a private dwelling to look like a French chateau.
No play area for children but there's plenty of walks down by the river and farm animals for them to see.
The site itself is at the end of a long narrow drive from the main road with a couple of passing spaces. A little tip, just before joining the lane when leaving the site, pause to look towards the main road and it's easy to see any conflicting traffic coming your way.
No downsides to this site at all, it's just a shame it's not open all year round.

Excellent site, friendly hostess, facilities clean and well maintained. Plenty of room with a well appointed toilet block.
Handy for Barnard Castle and North Pennines and Hadrian's Wall.
Easy to get to, and plenty of space to manoeuvre your outfit into position.
Looking forward to our third visit in 2015

Well this was our first visit to this site. We were met with smiles and sunshine.
We were given the site rules and a verbal map location to our pitch. The pitches were in
Excellent condition and really big. The site is a little bit of paradise. The facilities are 1st class. The showers are superb, clean toilet area and well maintained.
We will definitely use this site again.

Was very pleased with this site. Not a large signage from the road so it is easy to drive past. You have to drive through the farm and check in at the reception. Pulling in to the touring area was a bit of a surprise, we didn't expect to find such a pretty, well maintained site. The pitches are very large. The first 5 pitches are hand standing the rest are on a field behind. The toilet and shower blocks were very clean however there isn't a disabled toilet/shower. The scenery is amazing and the only sound was the sheep in the neighbouring field. We will put this site on our must return list.

Well kept was our first impression of this site. We drove over a little bridge and past two area's where statics were kept before turning left into what looked like a farm. We were greeted by owner, she explained the site rules and we went to our caravan bay. It was and is a very pretty site and kept well. Toilets are clean, the grass was maintained and the views were wonderful. I could even imagine living there it was that pretty. One of the benefits of this site was you did not have the site owners coming around ever few hours and watching you, like you do with some sites, this can be very off putting. We had a very calm and lovely stay and would surely go again.

A hidden gem and well worth seeking out. The beautifully kept site is in a very tranquil spot yet just outside Barnard Castle. It is well stocked with information on local attractions - we got some fantastic photos of a huge herd of deer at nearby Raby Castle - lots of good eating out in Barnard Castle and, for those who just want to get away from it all, a variety of walks on the doorstep including fields, woods, and an old railway embankment. The facilities were spotless, the showers hot and spacious, and we spent the evenings listening to birdsong and watching swallows diving in and out of the farm buildings. A red kite flew over on our last day and we saw 2 hinds in the woodland just feet from the path. Recommended for wildlife photographers. Will definitely book again.

We stayed on this site for the May bank holiday, this being our first venture out for the season.
We had been to visit this site last September when my Mam and Dad stayed in their caravan, we loved the site and made sure it was out first venture out.
Site is on farm, it is very well maintained and pretty little site. The hardstanding pitches are lovely and the rest of the pitches is in a field behind with lovely views. The lady who met us when we arrived was lovely, friendly and helpful.
The toilets and showers are really good, kept lovely and clean.
There is a lovely walk into Barnard Castle across the fields and through a wooded area. The lady on site will give you a little map to show you which way to go.
This is only an hours drive for us so will definitely use this more often. Would definitely recommend this site.
