Stayed here for three nights mid September. Nice site which is quite big but doesn't feel so as the site is divided up into smaller areas. We pitched near to one of the facilities blocks to find that the toilets were locked (but laundry open). Had to use the other block up the hill after all!
Water in showers was luke warm but there were a good number of toilets and showers which were quite clean but perhaps not attended as often as in peak season - loo roll ran out. Lots of water points around and hook-ups available across the site.
Chest freezer accessible to all for freezing ice blocks (and chilling wine) and electricity sockets in loos for hairdryers. Good Vodafone signal. No wireless internet.
Mainly level pitches. Some parts of this site look prone to being muddy if wet (it was good weather when we were there but the ground was quite spongy).
Play area for children and nice off-road walk to beach about 12 mins away. A nice site and probably worth visiting if you have children but we will not be back as it is very expensive for what we needed from it. We have camped often at Menallack a few miles away which is much better value for money.

A lovely well maintained site where the owners put on entertainment everynight in one of his barn, he put on discos, and skittle nights to name a few.
I will visit again as it was well worth the money and he gave the children on the site tractor rides everyday, My kids abersolutly love the site.
It has two toilets and shower blocks that was always cleaned every morning, washing machine and tumble dryer for a small fee.
It also as plenty of electrical hook up and has hard standings as well.It also has a private path down to a local beach which is nice and quite so the kids could body board there.
A shop on site to get the milk, bread and so on that is ran by the owner, a kids play area.So if you want a very family friendly site at a resonible price this is the one for you.

This is a good friendly, laid back campsite. We were only there for one night so didn't get our bearings with regards the nearby beach or any other facilities or shops nearby. We also didn't experience any evening activity which other authors here seem to enjoy.
There is a useful bus into Falmouth but it stops running about 5pm, but a taxi back from Falmouth was only about £5.
The facilities are fairly new, but were muddy.

We are a young couple and this was our first trip camping so not a great deal of experience. We were walking part of the coastal path so only stayed at this site for one night before moving on. As such we didn't really rely on the site services like people staying a week but both agreed it seemed ace for families - as we were leaving the owner drove up in an old school tractor dressed like a pirate and a crowd of kids piled on for a ride. Heard him 'ar-harrr'-ing as we left. Both were fantastically friendly and welcoming. They have also just finished a 'maize maze' which looked fun. Shower blocks were big, clean, free hot water, all exceed expectations for hikers willing to rough it. Site is minutes drive from beach, NT gardens, Falmouth etc. Bit isolated if on foot but there is a bus which stops outside. Area is really picturesque. It was the most expensive site we stayed at that week but not by much and justifiably so.

We have just returned from 10 days at Pennance Mill. It's the second year that we have been there as our 9 year old son insisted that we go back after he had enjoyed it so much last year. We will also be returning next year!
It is a very friendly site and the events in the evenings are excellent entertainment. They are very laid back and informal. We don't usually like 'organised' entertainment but this is very different from the usual. In particular the family 'sports' which involves 2 person sack races and hay bale throwing. They also do a skittles night, disco and quiz in the barn on different nights. These, the tractor rides and the playground give children opportunities to meet each other even when the weather is bad.
The owners are very laid back about pitching tents. There are no regimented pitches marked out and Alan will leave it up to you to choose the area that suits you best. Facilities are fine, not too flashy but have everything you need. There are 2 different parts to the ladies facilities - one slightly bigger than the other with better placed mirrors! I did not realise this till part way through the week and it made a big difference to me.
The surrounding area is fabulous. Minutes away from Swanpool beach(cheap carpark, good food, the best ice-cream). Last year we had rain more or less constantly and there was plenty to do in the surrounding area. Falmouth town, National Maritime Museum, Goonhilly, St Michael's Mount. This year there was plenty of sunshine and we made the most of the fantastic beaches around. I'd recommend Kynance Cove & Carbis Bay.
And we still feel like there is loads to do - certainly enough for another year. This is the first time that we have returned to a campsite. We usually like to try new places but there is something special about Pennance Mill.

Fantastic campsite, we picked it based upon the previous site reviews.
Charming campsite in a valley with an old mill which is a farm. The owners are really friendly and make lots of effort both with the campsite and the entertainment. Pitches are in different areas and we had a nice pitch backing onto some hedges
Weather was a bit mixed buy hey its camping in Cornwall. Local areas is great with beaches, Falmouth, Helford river and lots of things to do.
Most other people there were repeat visitors and very family friendly (we have three children under 5 yrs). Highlights for the older two kids were the tractor rides, the playground and the barn events.
If camping in the area again will definitely come back. Strong recommendation from me !

To be fair we only stayed one night and the weather was poor. The location was beautiful, with lots of fields and pitches to choose from -although a long walk to the loo block from some of them! Unfortunately the best and top ends of the fields, with the views, seemed to be occupied by large groups of 'long term' caravanners/fruit pickers which was offputting.
This was off season and wet, but the facilities were clean (I wonder if the bluetits succeeded in fledging from their nest in the cigarette ashtrays outside the loos?). The laundry room was as complete mess however and rubbish bins were overflowing around the site so it had an air of neglect. Maybe because we only booked in overnight we were given no information by the owner about the shop nor the walk down to the beach - which we did almost in the dark without having the security codes to unlock the gates so had to climb over them! This was a lovely way to get down to the beach however as the road down was narrow and I am sure many a happy camper/child will wend their way back up this path from the beach during a summer's stay. A walk up through the fields from the site to the coast would have been a bonus! We thought it was very expensive for the limited facilities. Useful for visiting Falmouth and the area.

Excellent site - shame about the weather.
Very friendly & laid back approach to their visitors. Good clean facilities my only niggle was just how many times I had to press the button in the shower.
I recommend parking at Swanpool & walking into Falmouth - car parking is cheap & the ticket gets you a free cuppa at the cafe opposite.
Nice to find a site which has a one person tariff.

We have stayed at Pennance Mill for our main summer holidays for almost 35 years now!
It is the most beautiful, peaceful, idyllic haven we have ever had the chance to find. We have always camped but have never found any other site quite so charming and unspoilt, and we now choose to spend the whole of our 5 weeks summer holidays with the owners, Alan and Vanessa Jewell. On arriving, you will be charmed by their beautiful natural gardens, and be charmed also by the huge water wheel which is lit up in the evenings. The atmosphere of the campsite is always of a warm and caring nature, and Alan and Vanessa cannot do enough for all their campers. They work extremely hard to make everyone’s visit a memorable occasion, beginning their day well before 6am (yes, I've met them cleaning out the toilets at 6am!) until well after everyone has gone to bed. The site is beautifuly clean and safe, with security gates which are locked from 11pm to 7am, keeping noise and disruption to a minimum. There is a strictly ‘no noise after 11pm’ policy which is firmly adhered to. This beautiful site was a working dairy farm, and still maintains that unique character with its barns, tractors, ducks and a few cows, although it is not now a ‘dairy’ farm.
There is a small shop on site for basic provisions and newspapers, with a 24hr Asda store, and Falmouth town just 4 miles away. The little bus into Falmouth can be picked up hourly, directly outside the farm gates, and drops you at the same point on return.
Alan drives his tractor through the site after breakfast every morning – come rain or shine – giving the children his special tractor ride – always free of charge! What makes this site so special is that it is very much a family-oriented site. They lend their large cottage garden to the children on site, to enjoy a climbing frame, sandpit, swings, and a large grassed area for other games. Their barn is a most amazing place that turns into a skittles alley for a contest, a quiz night, a cinema, a folk dancing night, a bingo night, a children’s disco, even a talent contest for all the campers – with small prizes for the winners of some of these contests too! There is usually one fun activity going on most evenings. They also organise a welcome party on the Sunday early evening on the cottage garden (weather permitting), to get everyone together. We enjoy sack races, egg and spoon races, three legged races, tugs of war, and a sheaf pitching contest – for children and adults! We have also enjoyed star gazing, seated around a bonfire on the cottage lawn, with a local enthusiast.
Where else in the world would you be entertained by such a wonderful assortment of activities, and at absolutely no charge!
Alan and Vanessa both work hard all through the year to make the holiday season such a huge success. Last winter they installed more land drains, more electric points, and purchased land to develop the laying of a safe and private walkway from their site to the local Maenporth beach just over half a mile away. It is for use by Pennance Mill campers only, with the additional safety of three security gates.
Alan and Vanessa are exceptional in everything they do to make their visitors stay a happy and memorable event, and they have visitors like ourselves, who return year after year after year.
This is a truly unique site - like most regulars, I have no criticisms to make!

Visited in September for the weekend specifically for its location close to Falmouth to view the tall ships event. Site is very rural which I like without club, pool and a strict no noise policy after 11. We seen the site at its worst after the appalling summer and heavy rain before our arrival which cleared and brightened during our stay. Facilities were good and despite the mud everything was kept as clean as possible. You do need your own transport to be fair from the site to go shopping or visit the nearest beach or place of interest etc but frequent buses at the entrance are useful and run hourly. What was not so good was the owners really jacking the prices up due to the tall ships event especially when even the hardiest campers were pushed to the limit to persevere in the terribly muddy conditions which really could be improved on site with some simple drainage that would not be visible and inexpensive to achieve.Camping in mud aint fun and neither is getting towed out by tractor when really it could be avoided without too much expense by the site owner. The site however is very beautiful and on different levels with hedges etc to maintain that own space feeling and the added benefit of not having marked pitches should you like me have a large tent. Another thing that would definitely improve the site would be a path from the camp straight up through the owners fields to the clifftop / coastal path to make for a pleasant stroll or as a fast route to the coast path for some serious walking as the alternative at the moment is a long walk the wrong way along narrow lanes or an even longer walk taking you the wrong way. If the owners could sort out the mud and fast access to the coastal path then the site would be nearly perfect.
