I used this place for an overnight stop on our journey home to London, but I don't think I will be returning. The owners were not particularly helpful, and seemed a little cross when I didn't fully understand where they were telling me to pitch my van. Also, the electricity had cut out in the bottom field and rather than attempting to fix the problem themselves, they were giving instructions to campers how to get the electricity running again.
In general the site was Ok, with the bottom field by the entrance being quite pretty having a nice 'in the country' feel about it.
I would imagine the top field would get quite noisy during the warmer months, as I noticed a mini football pitch with floodlights which probably suggests that football goes on till after dark. This area would be great for families.
Some motorway noise was apparent, but nothing to get too concerned about.

Not impressed with this site at all,the owners have a very 'can't be bothered attitude' after they have pitch fees. We camped on the bottom field with van on hard standing and the awning on the grass which was a swamp due to NO drainage.
Most worrying of all when the showers are used [male, female and disabled] you recieve electric shocks!, reported this to site ownners who weren't bothered [nothing done as 'electrician had been out previously to fix it'!].
I wouldn't recommend this site.

Site has only 2 showers in men and ladies and was very busy waiting for showers each morning. People stopping there with dogs let them roam free to the extent that we woke up one morning with dog pooh outside our tent door. Owners only spoke to us on arrival when we paid our money. No contact was had after not even a good morning !

When we arrived we found one of the owners and was told to see the other one, which we did and he looked bemused and said we should talk to his wife.? Anyway after the confusion he sorted us out with a pitch for us and one for my sister-in-law. Not a bad setting but no great scenery as the site is surrounded by huge trees. The toilets and showers were a let down, 2 loos and 2 showers in each of the mens' and womens'. Therefore creating long queues which TBH was big downfall also the blocks weren't cleaned regularly and for most of the 3 nights we spent there only one toilet was working. (This had been reported) I supposed this site might ok in the quieter months but it really couldn't handle the peak timeat all. Not a site we would return to.

Stayed here for 3 nights on bank holiday weekend. Yes this site is quiet & peaceful. We were pitched on the top field which is for tents only as it slopes away but there is room for about 16 tents at the top where the ground is pretty much level though quite bumpy. No EHU`s on this field. EHU`s available on the rest of the site which was mostly taken up by caravans. Our only gripe was the toilet facilities which were rather inadequate for the bank holiday. The gents had 2 sinks, 2 showers, 1 urinal & 1 toilet. The disabled toilet was therefore also in constant use. The showers & toilet did not appear to be cleaned throughout the weekend. On the positive side we found 2 lovely pubs fairly close by. Ross-on-wye is a very short drive away with all the facilities you need including supermarkets, several pubs & restaurants & a public swimming pool which unfortunately was just closing as we got to it at 3.00pm on the Sunday. We paid £36 for the three nights.

Quiet campsite with an unsupervised play area for children (climbing frame, swing and tree house). I found the facilities more than adequate; free hot showers, toilets, use of freezer and washing area. There's a very large area for tent pitching which means there can be good spacing between tents. Plenty to keep the family occupied in the area and the view from Symonds Yat is stunning. The campsite owner is nice and friendly. Overall, a good campsite, offering some peace and quiet for the resort weary camper. There is some road noise from the nearby motorway(?), but its not too bad. Will come again for sure.

Went here for 2 nights camping in out tent. Lovely place, quiet despite being close to the motorway. We had never stayed anywhere before that did not have a shop or pub, but in all honesty that never bothered us at all. Toilets and showers new and clean and free, disabled toilet and shower too. Washing up facilities excellent. Lots of rabbits and squirrels about, plus chickens. The site is split into smaller sections, so you get to pretty much choose where you pitch. When we arrived the site was full of caravans and a couple of tents, so we had a whole field to ourselves. Which was great with the kids, they loved the playhouse/play area, but enjoyed even more playing in the woods and in the 2 big dirt heaps. They enjoyed it so much we paid for an extra night, which was only £10.00 per night non electric. 10 mins from Newent, and 15 from Ross on Wye, 30 mins from Gloucester and Monmouth. Will be returning here without a doubt.

We stayed at Haywood Farm for 4 days at the beginning of June and we found it a pleasant and very relaxing experience. We were the only tent on site for 3 days! The whole site is well kept and very welcoming. The shower / washing facilities are small but clean. The larger tent field is on a slight slope and a bit bumpy in places so we had to be careful where we pitched but there is plenty of space. The Forestry Commission has marked out 3 walks in the woodland adjacent to the site and there are plenty of other walks nearby. The countryside and views in places are stunning. A short drive away is Newent, a very pretty little market town where we were able to top up our groceries. Ross-on-Wye is about 15 minutes away along the M50. The two parish churches in nearby Kemply are worth a visit if you like your history and/or art. The local pub, is a 10 minute walk away from the site, uphill all the way but down hill back home! It serves meals but be aware that it opens at 4:30pm on weekdays but is closed all day on Sunday. The local shop closes at lunchtime on Saturday and remains closed until Monday. We feel that we have found an absolute gem of a campsite and we intend to use it often.

June 2005 Very pleasant site, small and friedly. Camped there with freinds this weekend, 2 tents 4 Adults 6 children. Kids loved it. A good play area on the edge of the woods with "tree house" and also a two storey play house.
The site is well kept. The toilets/showers/sauna area well cleaned. There is still some constrcution (laundry and club room I think) going on. the site is very easily reached from J3 of the M50. Motorway can be heard when the wind is still but it's only noticeable if you listen for it.
The site is split into several smaller areas which makes it seem somehow 'cosier', paerticularly compared to the big field approach of many places. Many caravan pitches have hardstanding. Plenty of water and electric points.
Small shop/post office within 15 minutes walk and a couple of pubs. Ross-on-Wye is about fifteen minutes drive away.
Would certainly camp there again and probably very soon as it is only an hour from home.
