Bardsea Leisure Park appears to cater primarily for those wishing to purhase caravans or stay in the static or permanent caravans crowded onto the site.
There are a few touring pitches which have allocated numbers. We stayed for 3 nights, which were pre-booked, on one of these allocated pitches.
Upon arrival we were asked to avoid using the electric hook up we'd paid for as the cold weather had put a strain upon the system, however, we were still expected to pay for the privilege of not using this facility. (We have no gas heating or hot water in our van). The 10A system was indeed under strain and failed to supply anything like 10 amps throughout our stay, each evening was punctuated by the regular drop out of the electricity supply.
The nearby toilet block had two cubicles each containing a hand basin, shower, toilet and a heated floor. The toilet roll holders were frequently empty and the lock on one of the cubicles remained broken throughout the duration of our stay.
On our second day we returned to the site to find that our pitch had been taken by a caravan. The people in the van had been told by the reception staff to use any pitch they liked. When I spoke to the people in reception it was suggested that I also use any spot that was vacant, as the allocation system was 'a complete mess'. As we were travelling together with family in another van, this meant that we lost our space next to our family and had to move our stuff across to our new position.
It felt as if the site owners were unconcerned about the service they provided to their touring customers.

We bought a caravan off these last year and spent the weekend to check over our caravan, the service was poor they told us our caravan would be pitched on a site ready to go, not likely just sat freezing cold nothing hooked up !
The site is not that nice either sat in a quarry no views yes there is a pub and a coop but that is all, you wouldn't think you was in the lakes
Toilets and showers ok but not many of them
Our handover was also poor we have just found out by our friends that we have not been using the alko electrics either which would have made our insurance void also.
Poor site poor service, would definitely not buy or visit again

We normally go camping in tents and this was our first trip in a campervan and the second night at a different park. Although out of season everything was open and available to use. We found the site to be clean, friendly and organised.
The shower blocks were immaculate and the heated floor did the trick in the cold weather. There is a pub a 10 min walk away called the Old Farmhouse that serves lovely food. We will recommend this site to others.

Visited this site for weekend attending a wedding.
Site situated in an old quarry which has been landscaped. Consists of statics and tourers.
Site sells Touring caravans dealer for Baileys, Swift etc. They have a large accessory store reasonable priced goods. They also offer service and repairs and you can have your caravan serviced while you are there.
Ample space to erect awning but you will need pegs that go through hardcore. Hard standing with water, drains, and electric.
Staff are very friendly and helpful. They repaired my leaking tap at a reasonable price and were very promt and efficient.
Toilets and shower area were excellent. Large room with walk in shower basin, toilet and under floor heating. They are to be refurbished but looked ok to me.
Gate locked 11pm but can park car next to warden caravan.
Will be definitely going back to this site which is ideal for touring the Lakes and Morecambe Lancaster. Ulverston is a nice small town about a mile up the road. Taxi fares were reasonable.

I have been caravanning for over 35 years and this is the best park I have been to! The park is an enclosed area with well-wooded surrounds, well-laid touring pitches on good, well-drained hardstanding, each with individual water, drain, electric and TV aerial connection.
The park has been beautifully landscaped and the luxury toilet/shower block really lives up to its name - the individual closed and totally private cubicles are as good as many a hotel with heating and heated floor tiles.
There are holiday statics there too, several nestling on terraced sites. There is a griddle van on site which we did not use but appears to be well-liked. The staff are friendly and helpful.
You are only a half mile from the outskirts of Ulverston but so quiet you feel miles out in the country. We saw a whole spectrum of visitors, all being friendly and responsible.
There is an excellent pub/restaurant a short walk away. I can't fault the park, and will definitely visit again.

We stopped here for one night on way back home from Scotland, in our folding camper. We have relatives near by in Ulverston & Barrow, so it was very handy.
The site is in an old quarry, the owners have landscaped it, so it looks lovely - there was even a so called fishing pond (rods available in shop), but we had a look at this and it was pretty grotty with few ducks swimming in it!
The pitches are all pretty level with fully serviced points on each pitch and even a satellite hook-up all included in the price. The washrooms were the best we have been in - huge room with shower, sink & loo and lovely underfloor heating. The washrooms and toilets were very clean and up to date.
There is a huge shop at the front with an accessories showroom, which stocks almost everything you need and great prices. Also at the front is a field with a kids play area and which they sometimes have tents on.
Would recommend this site for people visiting Barrow & Ulverston.

Just returned from a 5 night stay here and cannot praise it enough! lovely landscaped site in grounds of an old quarry with luxury washrooms, nice level super pitches with tv hook up etc, separate camping area and a super playground for the kids.
There is a large showroom selling everything you might need, even a huge awning display, we even had our caravan serviced while we were there!
Good pub only 15 mins walk away and the lovely market town of Ulverston is only a 30 min walk but we chose to go on the bus for a pound each, we got a taxi back to site on sunday only £3. 80 which we thought was unbeatable.
Lots to do around here Barrow is about 25 mins away by car or 40 mins on bus and the coastal route has lovely views across Morecambe bay.
This was our first time here and we are coming back in October for a long weekend.

This site is excellent value for money. Each pitch has its own water, drain and sky TV point. The showers are individual unisex rooms with a shower, toilet, wash basin and chair and have constant underfloor heating.
The showers are push button but you soon find out which ones stay on longest eg room 3 stayed on 5-6 seconds only, I'm not sure what they expect you to wash in that amount of time. They were however spotless whenever you went in.
The site is beautifully maintained and gardened, although we found the pitches quite small, some do not have room for a car at the side so you need to park in front.
The access roads are quite narrow and tight so people often had to ask others to move their vehicles so they could get in or out. We saw at least 2 people struggle to get round corners and catch their vans.
You can walk to the co-op, swimming pool and Ulverston without much trouble. The Booth's supermarket in Ulverston is a bit far to walk to but is large enough to have most things.
The staff were very helpful at the site but it did take 3 complaints on the same day until we got our hook-up faulty electric trip changed and this was only after it caused my freezer to defrost and I was not happy.
It worked out expensive staying here as we ended up buying a new awning from their showroom, although their prices were comparable to those on-line and they ensured we had it before our holiday finished. ~In all, a fabulous site, and fabulous area, we will be back

We chose to stay at Bardsea while visiting relatives who'd moved into the area, despite my concerns of it being an 'add-on' to a caravan dealership - who wrong to judge without a visit.
The site is to the rear of a caravan sales area and shop (you drive through to get to the site), but the site is excellent. Having a mixture of fixed statics, seasonal and touring pitches, the pitches are generous in size and appear to be fully serviced with individual water supply, drainage and TV aerial points at each location (no additional 'fully-serviced' fee, unlike other sites). The site is beautifully quiet and interestingly located within a former quarry (don't let that put you off).
The toilet facilities comprise of complete enclosed units including toilet, basin and shower all of which are a good size for family-room use plus underfloor heating with the only negative point being that some of the fixtures are starting to look tired. The facilities are kept very clean during the day.
The grounds are well maintained and the children's play park is more than adequate for the kids to entertain themselves. The play area is however at the front of the site, on a large field between the showroom and road (albeit the field is well fenced) and this may concern some users as it's not visible from the touring pitches. The same field also acts as the tenting/camping area.
You have the benefit of an excellent caravan accessories and awning shop on site and all site staff are friendly and very accomodating.
Good facilities locally, with a small co-op and good pub only 5 minutes walk and Ulverston itself is a leisurely 30 mins walk.
I'd recommend the site for caravan use (already booked for later in the year) but I'd have reservations for camping, although an ideal overnight or short stay point if touring the area.

Excellent, one of the best we have visited. The staff were very pleasant and helpful, the shop had everything you needed for camping / caravanning. The toilet / showers were very clean / roomy and warm with the under floor heating. It is a short walk to a supermarket and pub. The site is very well thought out and very clean and tidy, but the camping field didn't look very good as it was waterlogged. Good bacon butty van on site, worth a visit. Lots to do in Ulverston and a zoo not far away. A good stop off before visiting the lakes.
