We have being visiting this site for the last 5 years, and the fact we keep returning shows how good it is. All the staff are very friendly and helpful; we even saw them use a small tractor to park up a touring caravan that the owners were having problems getting strait on their pitch.
Most of the pitches are hard standing with a grass area for awnings including annexes and hook-ups to electric, water and TV. One year we even had space for a dome tent for the grandkids behind the caravan for a couple of nights stay.
There is chemical disposal points and pot washing areas, and as mentioned the toilet / shower block is quit a luxury, with it’s under floor heating, large cubical and constant hot water.
The children’s play area is entertaining enough for most children and far enough from the entrance to be safe, although I feel sorry for the tenting camper as they a placed on and around the children’s playing field.
There is plenty of amenities’ within a short walk or drive, and it is easy to get to the south lakes from campsite

Love the site, the toilets and showers combined are really clean with heated floors.
Our 6 year grandson even started to like showers here as there was quite a bit of room in the cubicles themselves, lovely and hot too.
The playground was very good not just a swing and a slide a few different climbing frames too.
There is a good camping shop joining the park but the only downside is the shop didn,t sell a few food items, but there is a Co-Op 300 yds down the road.
Our pitch was flat and serviced well, overall a very good site with a lovely lady on the desk when we arrived who didn,t charge a penny for 6 extra family who came up with us and just stayed for the day with thier motorhome.
There is also a swimming baths just before the Co-Op which we also used which was FAB.
Would come back again, loved it!

Stayed at this site for just one night and to be honest this was enough.
The tent field was also the football field/ play field for the site.
It is also sandwiched between a busy main road and a caravan showroom.
The showers were good and they were free however going to the toilet opposite a mobile chip van and a camper van sales pitch was not great.
The local pub is OK and there is a CO-OP within a 5 minute walk.
It would be better if they stuck to the custom they wanted (selling caravans) and not entice tenters in.
Sorry but this site is not my idea of a good campsite.

For caravans - yes, an overall OK site with good clean facilities. I know this because whilst my parents had the benefit of one of the well equipped hard standing caravan pitches, my husband, children and myself were camped out in the tent/play area. There was no organisation of pitches and some individuals seemed intent on grabbing as much space as possible with the erection of gazebos, windbreaks etc.
Finding a decent pitch is on a first come first served basis, other than that you may find yourself in a spot beneath the goal posts or right next to the children's playground (which is very well equipped and draws children from the caravan pitches as well). The lighting is very poor on the way to the nearest toilet facilities to the field, for those who require to pay a visit after dark, take a torch. The ladies toilet in this block was at best functional, the sensor which activates the light and fan wasn't working all week and the soap dispenser fell off the wall if you touched it. Much better facilities in the caravan area are to be had and are worth the extra walk.
Whilst we were there we did have exceptionally wet weather and the field flooded at its lowest point not far from the possible pitch areas on the right hand side as you enter and in front of the the only entrance and exit for vehicles. Very good accessory shop for both tent and caravan users, no site shop for food, however the co-op just up the road is fairly well stocked. Do try the snack van, it does a range of extremely tasty fare.

3 sets of extended families, stayed for 3 nights on caravan pitches. Although a compact site, the facilities were excellent, There was even free fishing on site. Showers and toilets clean. A1, staff extremely helpful. Plenty to do, at or about, Ulverston. Would recommend.

Spent three nights at this site and was very impressed overall. Facilities were spotless and showers and toilets were combined so you ended up with a spacious bathroom to yourself. Good outdoor shop on site that sells just about everything linked to camping. Staff were very helpful throughout our stay.
The site is well located, although it's right on a busy road, with several pubs, shops and restaurants a 15 minute walk away. If you need something closer, there's a good pub (good food, live music) and a Co-op just along the road. South Lakes animal park is definitely worth a visit.
Would definitely return.

Got to camp site found that it was quite small. The steward was helpful. The showers and toilets was kept well a clean and had underfloor heating. A good play area for the kids with bark chippings covering the whole area. Shop was ok and also had a breakfast van there if you did not fancy doing breaky. With in walking distance to a pup that did meals. The pot wash was a hot water tap outside one of the buildings not the best of washup areas but I did the job the camp site was right on the main rd so you got the sound of traffic very clear. Had a good weekend and would visit there again

Just stayed for the second time in a month as we have found the site to be so well managed and clean. Excellent for touring caravans but I would not want to stay in a tent near/ on the playing field! Toilets and shower areas are combined and, though few in number, are the cleanest facilities we have found so far. Also no rush to leave the pitch as we were told both times it was fine to stay until 5.30pm. We will be back again very soon.

We have just returned from this site after having a wonderful week! Yes part of it was the 80 degree heatwave but also the site was great. We were on a super pitch which had its own tap so no lugging aqua rolls everywhere. The pitches were fine all hard standing and fitted caravan, awning and car side by side no problem the only slight problem was on arrival manoeuvring the caravan into the pitch as the road was narrow, luckily there was no caravan in the pitch opposite as it could have been really awkward. The toilets were actually individual bathrooms with showers and sinks in each one and I have never seen such clean ones they were spotless. The on site shop was just caravan equipment no groceries etc but there was a co-op 5 min walk away and a Booths supermarket 2 min drive away in Ulverston. Also the pub up the road near the co-op was really good 2 meals for £7.99 mon-sat good value! The playground was good for kids except there were no swings. Mind you I wouldn't have liked to be a camper as they were put on the playing field right by the playground. By the weekend the field was pretty full and some poor souls were pitched right next to the goal posts so you can imagine what that was like. The ladies on reception were really nice and gave us loads of tips and information on the local area etc. All in all fab site for caravans thats if you dont mind no bar/games room etc not so good for tents but we will defo be back.

Pre booked to stay on this site 4 weeks prior to stay Aug bank holiday. On arriving found the very tiny tent area over flowing, there was no where to put our tent. The warden informed me that the owners had increased capacity from 21 tents the previous year to 35 this year yet the space to place the tents had not increased. The childrens park/play area is also incorporated in the alloted space with footballs flying left right & centre. The tent area is on the main road with only a 2 foot wall seperating them. Due to someones want to cram everyone in our weekend was ruined. Spent time and money only to have to return home. This site did not appear suitable for tents although the caravan area was very nice and well kept. Did not get an opportunity to see amenities or local area due to the circumstances.
