Well positioned site if like us you like the canals. Slightly sloping site that drains well, we had lots of rain while there. Toilets and showers were adequate but dated. Owner extremely friendly and hard working and has lovely collie that roams the site. Reasonably priced, we paid £90 for a week inc EHU. Seems to have some seasonal pitches and some workers living on site but was not a problem to us as we have seen on other sites. 1 slight negative is the last approach road, its very narrow and cobbled with residents cars parked, we had to ask a gas van to move so we could pass. Some lovely walking around, site backs on to Macclesfield Canal and is only yards from the Middlewood Way. Lyme Park is also worth a visit and is walkable up a steep path off the canal, for any plane spotters turn 180 degs at the top and you can see the full approach to Manchester Airport in the distance. There is a small public park as you enter the site.

First outing in our caravan and decided to go local. Visited Elm Beds and had a lovely time. Just went for three nights and could have stayed forever. Beautifully kept site. Toilets and showers were superb. Very friendly site. Will definitely visit again. Lovely walks along the canal. Dogs are welcome. Perfect.

Two adults stayed in a campervan for one night at the beginning of June with electric.
ON ARRIVAL:
The road up to this campsite is quite daunting. It is very bumpy and I did worry that we were going to damage the campervan. The other concern was that we had gone to the wrong place (which judging by other reviews, we might have). We did arrive later than planned due to roadworks en-route however, we kinda just got left to our own devices.
PITCH:
The pitch was a bit weird. We were on the grass at a top of the hill. The only thing to indicate where the pitch was, was an electric point for hookup. There were no numbers that we could see.
LOCAL ATTRACTIONS:
The campsite was further from the train station than the website said so we ended up driving. We went into Manchester to the Hard Rock Cafe for my OH's birthday and then came back.
Manchester is small trip on the train so I think the campsite would be a good base for going exploring there.
FACILITIES:
They weren't great to be honest. The female toilets were quite dirty, they had run out of toilet paper and soap and just looked a bit unhygienic. I ended up using the portaloo in the campervan rather than going back.
CONCLUSION:
We are quite new to campervanning so we are still finding nice places to stay. This one will not be on our holiday list for the future as we did not feel it was that great.

Just returned from a very pleasant weeks break over Easter. There seem to be two chaps running the place. The Lady who features on the You tube video apparently very sadly passed away last year.
In the nicest possible way I felt some aspects of the site lacked the feminine touch for fine detail. Everything is clean but a make over of the toilets and showers would help enormously. That said if you view this as a Certificated Location then it is brilliant. Moreso excellent value for money.
16 amp electric. Good supply of water and not regimented. Very relaxing indeed.
The location is superb being next to the Macclesfield - Marple canal. The disused railway is just up the tow path as is a very pleasant 3 mile round walk to Lyme Park and its NT tea rooms.
A couple of pubs within walking distance, The Boars Head and The Miners Arms. Both worth a look.
A local Chinese take away delivers to site. All the main shops are 2 miles away, a few minutes in the car.
One for a return trip.

We chose this site for convenience as we were passing through Poynton for a wedding at the start of a 3 week trip and this was the nearest site available.
On our arrival we were delighted to discover that we had found a site that offered more than just a 'convenient' stop off. It was within walking distance of the beautiful Lyme Park National Trust Property and also backed onto the canal so it was lovely just to wander along the canal side (if we had more time there was a great little coffee shop on the towpath).
The site itself had good clean facilities and the wardens were friendly.
The approach to the site is kind of a 'rocky road' affair - but that wouldn't put us off coming again.

Hidden gem of a site. Within walking distance of Lyme park and a brilliant pick your own fruit farm. Beautiful canal walks and the local village is brimming with amazing eating places including a pizza and Chinese / Thai take away.
Advisable to ring ahead for a pitch. They class my tent as a large and they could struggle to fit you in on a level patch.
Charges very reasonable
EHU is available. Owner even offered us a loan lead as we'd left ours at home thinking we couldn't use it. Very likable chap.
Showers are very hot (bliss after a very wet night) toilets stalls. Both immaculately clean. ( I love walking in and smelling the bleach). Yes they are old fashioned but comfortably functional. Far better then some of the prefab things you see.

Spent 3 nights here at the beginning of June, really enjoyed our stay. Lovely little site situated next to the canal. Toilet and free shower facilities. Washing up area.
Site is mainly set up for caravans, and the pitches for tents are small. The site is on a slight slope so we struggled to find a flat for our tent - but this just added to the fun!
Really lovely site and in a great location. Great value for money.

This site is great. Staff most accommodating and friendly. Toilets and showers clean and tidy, along with the site. Even the other campers where friendly which says a lot for this camp sites customers. Nice villages nearby and local pub very friendly with fine ale and food, with a pool table too. Great canal next to campsite. Road upto camp was rocky which was not a problem if correct speed used

I went in Elms Bed every year since 2006. Beautiful site, near bus stop (I hope it will be this year, every year there was less buses!), the Middleway trail and the Macclesfield Canal.
A large grass for children, little but well done services.
You can go to Manchester and Stockport, or enjoy the country life!
The only problem is that shops are far.
I liked, years ago, the vegetables on sale in site.

Had a fantastic bank holiday weekend here, with friends and family, loved it, kids enjoyed it, will definitely go back. Had some lovely walks along the canal, then stopped off at the Boars Head for sunday lunch.
Local shops 5mins away, our dog enjoyed being with us,
Bin area maintained to a high standard, shower and toilet facilities clean, cleaning pots area, well lit in the evenings. Kids enjoyed watching all the barges going down the canal.
