Booked this site based on location and price, don't be put of by the bumping ride to and from the site. I guess this is an unadopted road in dire need of attention to potholes.
I was met by a very pleasant lady pointed out the amenities and said I could pitch anywhere and leave when it suited so laid back lovely gesture.
Pitched by the hedgerow which literally backed onto the Macclesfield canal. There is a disused railway track just at the end of the road. If you like cycling or walking this is heaven. I saw a local pub though I didn't visit looked inviting. There was a tearoom next door but this was closed.
The toilet block is very basic one shower was minus coat hooks, despite this they were clean and the water hot.
The only noise is from passing Narrow Boats the occasional aircraft noise crows and sheep. There is a resident dog that wandered about and befriended people. If you not a lover of dogs then this may be a problem, I point out this dog is very friendly.
Would I come again? yes definitely, if you want a fews days peace from the rat race.

Just got back from this site and to be honest I wasn't expecting much because it was only 20 minute drive from Stockport but I was wrong.
The 'road' leading upto the site is like a dry whitewater rapid but we navigated it without loosing any of our car. The site is mainly set out for motorhome's and caravan's but there is room for several tents.
We had a 5 man tent with awning (Outwell Nevada M) which held 2 adults 2 kids and 1 dog and we where charged £15 a night (18/08/2012) which we thought was very reasonable.
The facilities were basic but clean.
The canal path runs alongside the campsite and the Middlewood way was only couple of minutes walk away. We would definitely recommend The Boars Head pub which was 5 minute walk away and it's a 'proper pub' that serves homecooked food which comes in real life portions and a good price.
We tried The Miners Arms which was about 15 minutes walk in the other direction but food was on the expensive side for us and didn't look anything special.
If you don't mind the noise of wildlife at night, especially foxes, and sheep bleating all night this is the perfect site and we will be returning very soon.
Also the shops are only 10 minute drive away.

We stayed here whilst visiting the Foodies Festival at Tatton Park. The days coming up to our visit had seen heavy rain but the site was relatively well drained. The toilets/shower block on site are old & basic, but were clean and adequate. The site is in a lovely spot next to the canal and walking distance to the local pub, we visited the Lowry Centre and Tatton Park during the weekend.
Our friends stayed in a tent and the owner accommodated us next to each other however he didn't give us any information on rules or facilities of the site. The track leading up to the site is horrendous and would put me off visiting again, it was an unmade track full of huge potholes, residents cars were parked there during the weekend which we couldn't have negotiated with the caravan on as it would have been too narrow. Luckily it was clear by the time we were leaving.

Just taken advantage of the fab sunny weekend and spent 2 great nights on this site, sunbathing and watching the barges go to and fro along the canal.
We live in Manchester and were thrilled with this site just half an hour from home,
We found it very relaxing, hassle free, lots to cycle or walk to especially the local pub where we sampled the food, (recommended. )
The owners of this site are so very laid back and friendly they will be seeing a lot more of our family weather permitting.
Facilities are hook up, shower and toilet block and a well cared for site. Anything else you need bring yourself.

Only second outing with the tent (Zenobia6), phoned in advance to enquire was told not mega busy just turn up.
Easy to find although the approach road is narrow and like has already been said last 100 yards are very potholey.
Was offered the choice of 2 pitches although only one was really suitable, slight slope backing onto a hedgerow separating the motorhome/caravan pitches bordering the canal. Plenty of space and an EHU (not used) alongside.
Toilets/showers basic but clean enough, several water points around the park. Enjoyed a lovely peaceful afternoon and early evening, lots of birdlife and a nice sunset. Sadly it wasn't to last.
The owner had a marquee on the side of their house and soon a noisy party was in full swing, didn't quit till about 1am and sleep was impossible, it would have been nice to have been warned in advance
Would we visit again? No to be honest, feel a little let down by what happened which is a shame as its a nice location.

As newcomers to the camping scene, we were quite nervous about our first booking. Elm Beds was to be an excellent choice. We wanted somewhere with challenging walks and also somewhere quiet and it fit the bill perfectly.
Situated just on the border of the Peak District, it took us just over an hour on a Friday evening to drive there from work. It would have probably been quicker, but the traffic and road works just around Poynton prevented this.
The campsite is relatively straightforward to find (Just off the M60 - Junction 1) and is situated at the end of a somewhat bumpy track. We arrived just as it went dark and managed to pitch our tent in perfect conditions.
The pitch was in pristine condition, dry and with good drainage. There were only 3 or 4 touring caravans and one other tent, but these were well spaced. Apart from the occasional flock of geese flying over head, the only 'noise' was the wind in the trees - it was so peaceful.
The following morning, I walked down a slight incline to the toilet and shower block, which I had to wait 5 minutes to use as it was being cleaned (this was about 8am).
The facilities are a little bit dated but sparklingly clean and with plentiful hot water. The ladies had one shower and two toilets, the mens, according to my partner, had one toilet and one shower. There is also a chemical toilet disposal nearby and washing up facilities, again with plenty of hot water.
The site is right next to the Macclesfield canal, which makes it an ideal base for the many walks available. The owner, an extremely pleasant and helpful lady, lent us a map and showed us a route. This lead us to the beautiful Lyme Park and its grounds. A good 6 hour walk and well worth it.
As our gas canister was leaking, we checked with the owner if they provided gas bottles, which they did. Nothing was too much trouble for them, they were there for any advice or help required.
Yes, I did need my earplugs, but only as the gentle wind was blowing in the trees. A not altogether unpleasant sound!
We departed Sunday afternoon after a leisurely and peaceful breakfast. The site caters for Touring Caravans, motorhomes, tents and also has permanent pitches for statics, which looked beautifully maintained and comfy. There is electric hook up available for a small surcharge.
I wouldn't recommend this site to anyone with children looking for a park/playground etc. There is a very small park at the end of the road leading to the site, but it is just that, small.
There are no clubs or pubs nearby, which makes it an ideal retreat for those who want peace and quiet. Shops, cafes and other facilities are available by car approximately 5 minutes away, or 15-20 by foot and there is a superbly stocked Waitrose for all those forgotten items.
On the whole this is an excellent site which we're looking forward to revisiting soon. Superb value at about £14 per night.

Just returned from this delightful, rural site and can't praise it highly enough. Toilets/showers, very clean, lots of hot water and no queues, even though there were lots of campers. Owners, welcoming, friendly and helpful.
Loads of good walks from the site and close to The Peak District for more walking opportunities.
The resident collie was lovely and not at all a nuisance.
Loved The Boars Head - 5mins on tow path, Middlewood way or road. Home cooked reasonably priced food and real ale- also reasonably priced.
Shops not too far, one within a mile + supermarkets 5 mins in Poynton.
Will certainly return and unlike other reviews would happily stay for longer - we did 4 nights.

Sorry for my bad English, I'm Italian!
I like this site. It's near the beautiful canal, there is a bus to Stockport (and a change to Manchester), the trail to bike or walk to Bollington, Macclesfield or Marple.
The pub is a few minutes to walk.
Very friendly and full of privacy.
The toilets are old, but in use.
There is not a site to wash clothes, and no laundrette with washing and dryer machine.
I think I would be better with a little shop (Poynton is far and the the street is hard to come back!), useful the vegetables of the near farm (when available!)
See you soon

Just returned from our second visit to Elm beds caravan park.
We love this quiet little site that backs up onto the canal.
The toilets/showers are fine, nothing fancy but kept nice & clean. Lots of hot water, also plenty for washing pots.
The owners are really nice & don't push you off on your last day, so no pressure. The dog is also very friendly.
This is a great site for walkers & cyclist.
Just outside site is kiddies park, this leads to the old railway now used for walking & cycling.
Beware of the road leading to site as it is full of potholes.
If you want a quiet few days this site is for you.
If you want noise, pubs & takeaways then keep away.
We will look forward to returning again soon.
£15 a night with electric hook up very good.

After the roller coaster ride over the dirt road entrance I thought it can't get any worse, and to be honest it didn't, a nice site which was very quiet and was fortunate to get one of the hardstandings near the canal side, some seasonal or long term vans were there too. Paid £15 for one night with EHU.
Nice walk along canal to marina and local pub although flies were out in force and pub was shut at the time so can't comment about that.
It's a fair way from town so take what you need unless you drive everywhere as there's no shops near. The site is equipped with a small (two shower- two toilet) block for ablutions which was clean even though there were quite a few campers on site.
I couldn't get any tv reception even pointing the aerial in the same direction as the resident dwellings had theirs so had to make do with a DVD.
Overall a quiet site but too far away from shops etc for us to walk to so would only visit again if needed.
