First time visit, owner was fantastic and got us in last minute. Was sceptical as read reviews on here and hoped they were just picky people. Well can I just say I couldn't of been more please, gorgeous site next to a beautiful river, well maintained shower although 50p lasted long enough for us both to have a shower and was really hot.
Enjoyed the steady walk to Hardraw Force which is on the sites door step and Pennine way walk to Hawes. Lovely site lovely location. Will be back :)))

First time at this site. Sites I usually use were fully booked.
Had to book by phone and was shaken by the quote of £25 a night -just me and my dog with electric hook up. BUT it was that or nothing. This price is not quoted on their website. Oh well might be good.
Beautiful spot- no signal for phone or telly but that can be a + or a - but not mentioned on website. Was then surprised that I had to pay 50p for a shower. Showers were v v v basic but adequate but on top of pitch fee!
I loved my 3 days walking in the area which I know so well but very disappointed with the cost and won't be staying again

We were generally disappointed with the site - yes, it was October, but if a site is going to be open then they should be prepared to be set up properly for muddy conditions. We were directed to the end of the site in the area for tourers and this was quite unkempt and difficult to see the hardstanding. Consequently on our second night when we returned in the dark we ended up with our front wheel just off the hardstanding and embedded firmly in mud. Luckily one of the other campers had a shovel that we borrowed to dig ourselves out - the owners are in a house which isn't too far away but would not have been a pleasant walk in the pitch black. We moved to one of the pitches for permanent vans that was empty but even here it wasn't ideal - the central 'track' is extremely muddy in places and we got slightly bogged down in this too (I should stress that we are competent drivers and experienced). As others have said, there are a number of permanently parked vans, some of which are in very good condition but some are rather green. The facilities are OK but not great - the ladies loo had a permanent bad smell and the shower (which costs 50p - very hot but only just long enough for a shower, hair wash and condition) is not great - the roller blind is broken and ragged, the floor surface leaves a lot to be desired and there's a rough black rubber mat to stand on. I felt it could be a lot cleaner - the shower had a lot of hair in it, the washing up area has some plastic tables that clearly haven't been cleaned in a long time and the loo floors are not mopped thoroughly (they were being cleaned while I was in a cubicle and it took all of 2 minutes, and the one I was in was not done). It's difficult to get to the hose for the water for a motorhome - you have to park in a way that blocks the entrance! The area is lovely and there are some great walks from here but the site was disappointing.

This part of Wensleydale is stunning with Hawes just down the road and the wonderful Aysgarth falls and Buttertubs nearby. The site is approached down a narrow lane, so large units beware, and has mainly statics and seasonal vans with the available touring section at the end of the second field. There were no views except for surrounding trees or back down into the seasonal site which had grass. The toilets were clean although the PIR controlled light which turned itself off after a short time was a nuisance when seated! There is only one shower for the site operated by 50p coins which gave sufficient time for a good hot shower, and hot water was plentiful, however, the composite flooring in the changing area was lifting and holes had appeared which were covered over with a rubber mat. I feel that some serious updating is necessary and at least the shower room floor re-laid. At £20 per night I think this is unacceptable.

Was persuaded to visit this site after reading other reviews. I agree that the toilets are clean and tidy. However!
This site is predominately made up of statics in the first field and seasonal pitches in the second tourer field, all of which appear to have been there several years and do not make for nice viewing. This left about three free pitches which were on weed infested hard standing with no grass to relax on at all.
The Dales are a wonderful site but none can be seen from the site as it is completely surrounded by trees.
At £20 per night was very disappointed and I object to paying for a shower but the nightly visit by a rat kept us amused.

A hidden gem! A small site nestled in the hillside and surrounded by some of the most stunning views. Plenty of friendly wildlife in the vicinity, we saw rabbits, hedgehogs and ducks on our two night stay.
Lovely friendly site, nice and clean, only 6 tent pitches so make sure you book before hand.
Kids had a whale of a time playing in the stream, well worth a visit for families, make sure you bring your insect repellent though as the midges get a bit active as it drops to dusk.
Showers and toilets were basic but clean and there was always plenty of piping hot water on demand. Only drawbacks are that you need to bring your own loo roll and handwash as these are not provided.
Highly recommended.

This is a lovely peaceful and tranquil site situated by the side of a stream. It can be tricky to find but just ask anyone for directions to Simonstone Hotel and you are more or less there.
The site is well maintained and is predominantly seasonal caravans and a few statics. There is a small oval of grass however, which is used for tents and tourers. The pitches were level and a good size. It is worth noting that there is no electric for tents, which would have come in handy as it was freezing when we went !
The toilets were clean and tidy and heated. The owners gave us a roll of toilet paper when we checked in, so just remember to take it to the loo each time you go. The showers were 50p for around 5 minutes and they were lovely and warm.
The campsite itself has a lovely stream running through it which kept my son entertained looking for fossils in the rocks and building dams. It is also surrounded by plenty of walks and Hawes itself is around a 40 min walk away, be warned though there is a steep up hill climb on the way back (not good if you have a bag full of shopping!).
The only downside to this site is that there are no shops nearby. However do not let this put you off going to this site. You just need to plan in advance.
Overall this is a peaceful and tranquil site and the place to go if you want a relaxing break. We would definitely go back.

I have stayed here 6 times in total, and we are going again this summer. Nice quiet campsite, well sheltered. Showers and toilets, nothing fancy and bring your own loo roll! Easy to find and not too far from shops and pubs. Loads of nice walks in the area around the campsite!
IT is mainly for static caravans and travel caravans but there is a few pitches in the centre of the site for tents. Their is a stream just by the site which when I was a kid we used to play in - hours of fun but other than that, not much for kids to do. We have taken our dogs twice, this has been no problem although dogs must be on a lead at all times.
Friendly owner and competitive prices currently at £15 a night

Just to add to what has been said, a very quiet site approx 20 small seasonal caravans round the edge of oval shaped field in woodland, with space for 5 tents in the middle. Lovely walk to the green dragon pub and Hardraw force over the fields and a ten min walk down the road to Simonstone Hotel which is lovely. They do food but we did not eat there. We stayed for 5 nights over bank holiday being the only place available,it is best to book because of the limited pitches,we were not disappointed the site was perfect for us. There is not much space for children to run around but ours is only 4 so that was not a problem for us. There is the river though to go exploring. My only niggle no loo roll or soap in toilets

Just like to add my comments to below. Our cost was £13.00 per night for 2 of us & a dog. Facilities are basic but clean, nice site & very peaceful. Great pubs in the area & the lovely village of Hawes. Watch out for midge bites if it is raining. We forgot to spray or cover up, now very itchy!
