This is an excellent family friendly site and very reasonable rates. We had electric hook up which meant that our pitch was right at the top near to the caravan area. I think this has been a hard standing in the past as it was very hard to get a peg in. I used a larger peg to make a hole and then inserted a smaller peg in that hole, which I had to do for most of the pegs, so it took longer than usual to pitch our tent. Our friends arrived later and they then sited a bit further down the hill and had no problem getting pegs in, which meant that their 'social area' was uphill from their tent and this worked fine. I think we'll do this next time. The only problem is that our EHU lead wouldn't have reached but apparently the site owners will loan leads out for anyone who can't reach.

Having said all that, the site is excellent and we had a great time, nice and quiet at night and the play area was well used by ours and our friends' children. It's a great view from here and we could see Whitby Abbey and the sea easily. We walked down on the road to the station to get a train into Whitby. The walk takes half an hour at a reasonable stroll but I'd allow three quarters if you have very little ones. The 'Monks' Path takes about fifteen minutes longer to do but it can be confusing and any delays might make you miss the train. (You could carry on along the Monks Path right into Whitby as well). Site facilities - the shop was quite adequate for our needs and they also had gas available and even some single air beds which were a lifesaver as two of ours sprang leaks on the first night! The showers and washing facilities were fine and kept clean but you need a stack of twenty pence pieces for the showers. I used three for my shower (gave me 9 minutes) and this was more than enough. I could easily have got away with just two coins for a decent shower. We had a full breakfast one morning in the campsite cafe as a bit of a treat and it was lovely. The ice cream is to die for as well!

We very much enjoyed our stay here and can also highly recommend the local pub for our evening meal (another treat) which is on the left as you go out of the camp entrance. The pub staff were very nice and friendly and even gave all our children a bag of Maltesers each for being well behaved, which I think is really going the extra mile, one of those nice touches that 'made' the holiday for us. All in all an excellent site. We'll definitely be back.

One final thing and not a reflection on this site at all. One evening, one of our girls left a bag with a Nintendo DS in it, at the playground area (a very silly thing to do, but she's learnt her lesson now). A young lad from the site took this back to his tent and hid it under his bed. We went around the site asking and my wife asked their parents if they had seen anything. The lad's very young sister said 'Yes it's under his bed'. The parents then actually tried to distract my wife from this but she was having none of it and asked the little girl again and she repeated it, The boy then got it out from under his bed and handed it over. His parents said nothing at this and went very quiet. It was a big wake up call for us and this is a warning to all campers that site security is your own responsibility and that even on a lovely site such as Beacon Farm there might be thieves about who will not hesitate to steal your stuff. Please be vigilant and watch out for your valuables.

We stayed at Beacon Farm for the first time in August for a week, and I am sure it won't be the last time we do.

We were very happy with our warm welcome and relaxed approach to siting our tent, and also the information provided about the site and its' facilities. We have two sons and they really enjoyed the playground in the centre of the field, it was easy to see where they were and let them come and go by themselves.

The showers were clean and the water was hot, the coin meter giving you plenty of time for a good shower for 2X20p.

The toilets were also clean and always had paper and their bins emptied promptly.

The site shop was actually really reasonable which is unusual, and we bought milk from there rather than going to the supermarket.

The ice cream from Beacon Farm is sold everywhere around the region and it's easy to see why, it is absolutely delicious, as are the farmhouse and veggie breakfasts!

We would definitely use this site again, you can see the sea and it is a short drive to Whitby and other beaches where free parking is available if you don't expect to be just a few steps from car to beach.

There were dog and no dog areas on all the beaches, and the site welcomed dogs too, there were a few including our own when we were there.

Top holiday.

Had a fantastic week in August with my wife, and was fortunate to have beautiful weather.

The campsite is basic and functunal but all the facilities are always clean and tidy.

Dont expect 'The Ritz' and you will love it. The owners were brill and very friendly, we had aproblem with some idiot parking within 5 foot of us and they came and sorted it (Some people ! )

The ice cream is to die for, you v got to try it. Food available at the ice cream parlor and at the 'Wilson Arms' in the village( 1 min walk)

We parked our car just out of Whitby center and walked in (Parking was very expensive )

Great campsite --Will definitely be back.

We stayed at this site in the first week of the school hols and have loved it. We had contacted them a few times via email before arriving and had prompt replies every time. We could pay on a night by night basis and didn't have to book minimum number of nights which I really loved.

Site was no frills basic but clean ladies had 2 showers 20p for 3mins and 2 toilets all a bit tatty but clean and functional. There were 2 sinks for washing up, and also a plug there and a mirror if you want to straighten your hair!

They will freeze ice packs for you 20p each and charge your phone up for you too. The site is sloping but if you are careful you can get a good pitch. Kids playground in the middle which kids loved (though could do with a bit of strimming round).

It costs us £12 for a tent with 2 adults and 2 kids and you cant go wrong. The first night we stayed was busy saturday night and there was problems with noise/music not the fault of owners and they did apologise next day, after that we had a great time.

There's a lovely ice cream parlour with ice cream to die for and also a kids bouncy castle play area with ride on toys etc this is set away from the site so kids need supervising. Pub next door too but didn't go there.

It was further out of whitby then we expected but not a problem, and you cant see the sea or the abbey views from the site unless up the top near the toilets.

All in all a fab site will def use again.

Fantastic campsite, friendly and great views of whitby.

The facilities are basic but very clean, the showers cost 20p but 40p will get you a fantastic hot shower the site has a very nice ice cream parlour and cafe and a play ground for the young ones.

The tent pitches are slightly sloping but easy to get a levelish set up with electric hook up at the top of the field.

There is a pub next door to the site gate with real ale and good food if you don't fancy cooking.

Whitby is just 5 mins away by car or a very nice walk by the river about 1. 5 miles from the nearby village which also has a train station 4 mins to whitby.

Just a great campsite for a night or a week, I will be back next year.

Fantastic. Even if the weather wasn't (heavy rain and severe winds).

Warm and welcoming on arrival. We were shown where to pitch, and given campsite information. The toilets and showers were always clean when we were there. The campsite dog was also cheekily welcoming too - we would quite happily have nabbed him for ourselves!

Easy access to Whitby by car, taxi (in our case) and there's a train station down the road which goes into Whitby.

The owners also helped us out when we discovered we'd left our light behind. They went above and beyond to help us and make us comfortable (all weekend) - compared to what some campsite owners would.

The Tea Room on the site was lovely too, the staff were friendly and food and drink was lovely too.

Would recommend this site to everyone.

I went to Beacon Farm on the recommendations of this site and found it to be everything I expected to be.

I was camping alone and pitched my little tent in a corner of the field where the two tractors were positioned. I felt completely safe on my own there and it was the nearest place to the toilets.

The facilities were adequate and it was good to know that they did not cram tents onto their field. The service was friendly and I could even order my morning paper from the shop. The ice cream parlour was lovely and although I didn't have a breakfast in there, it seated everyone spaciously.

I took the Monk's walk down into Whitby and did get lost 3/4 of the way but I got there in the end. It is about 3. 5 miles and took me about 1. 5 hours. I had to get a taxi back.

The neighbouring tent had an EHU which I didn't realise you could get.

I would certainly go back to this site.

An excellent little site, pretty flat too, loads of space. Basic but definitely adequate. Toilets and shower facilities clean and stocked with soap, toilet roll etc. Showers 20p for 3 minutes, nice and hot good water pressure.

Nice cafe on site, breakfast for £4. 25, cant go wrong!

Pub a 2 minute walk away (Wilsons Arms). Food excellent and reasonably priced, made to feel extremely welcome by landlords. Quiz on Tuesday evening was good fun too.

Short stroll away from Monks Path into Whitby and about a mile away from Ruswarp station where you can see the Steam trains pass through if you like that sort of thing!

Good value, would definitely visit again.

On arrival; friendly, helpful service. We were told we could pitch where ever we wanted on the field. We was slightly nervous about the field, as we had read reviews on the site and heard about it sloping!

However, we didn't think the field was as bad as previous reviews stated and were happy with the pitch we chose. The site was fairly quiet, midweek, and we had plenty of space for large tent, porch, two cars and kids to play cricket! Super value £14 per night!

Toilet blocks were basic, but had plenty of hot water and there didn't seem to be a queue to use these, but if busy on site I guess it would cause more of a problem.

Ice creams purchased both on and off site by beacon farm and always lovely, with plenty of flavours to chose from.

Visited Whitby several times during our stay, felt car parking expensive £3 -2 hrs. Went to Robin hoods bay, children enjoyed skimming pebbles on beach, free parking at Sandsend, lovely walk along sea front.

Used swimming pool at Whitby, family ticket £15 for fun session, kids enjoyed this on a rainy afternoon.

Weather wasn't fantastic, one evening the wind howled and our porch nearly blew away, but all in all a lovely campsite well worth a visit for the price!

Just got back from a lovely 4 night stay with my 2 year old. The campsite as mentioned before is on a hill, our pitch was quite steep but there were flatter areas and the site is large.

We paid £16 per night with EHU which was very reasonable as the campsite has a beautiful view down to Whitby and you can see the abbey across the fields. Just down the road there is a pub but we didn't try it, open from 6. 30 to 11 on weekdays but longer at weekends.

There is a small basic shop and a great ice cream parlour (lovely ice cream and breakfasts) with an inside play area and bouncy castle (free).

Playground was better for 4/5 upwards - my 2 year old loved the swing but couldn't manage to climb onto the slide himself.

Showers were adequate - 20p for 3 minutes; 2 each for men/ women, great water pressure and temperature. Also 2 toilets and 2 washing up sinks which just about coped for the amount of people on site although there were a few queues at peak times. Owners lovely and really helpful, would freeze ice packs for 20p. All in all a great site for the price with fantastic views.
