Overall a really good campsite! We stayed as a group of 7 friends in 3 different tents, and were charged £12 per tent per night. As others have said, there are no specific pitches and so campers have the freedom to choose where to erect their tents.
We opted for the bottom end of the field, which was sloping - despite some rain showers through the night we had no problems whatsoever with rain.
The staff were friendly and helpful with advice about the local area, and the on-site shop stocks most essentials including milk and cereal for reasonable prices.
Showers and toilets are clean and functional, and are at the top of the field next to the shop. Not a problem to get to them through the night so long as you have a torch. The cafe serves breakfast, which we did not take advantage of, although it does serve takeaway coffee and tea throughout the day. There is a playground on site for those with children.
We were in the area primarily to visit Whitby, and travelled by train. The nearest station is in Ruswarp, a village very close to Whitby which is only about a mile away from the site, although the journey from the station is up a steep hill. There is no bus service near the site.
We managed to do this by foot with all of our equipment, though with hindsight we would have called for a taxi due to the lack of pavement in some sections.
Many taxi companies in Whitby are able to provide 8 seater buses for a reasonable price, and once divided amongst our group worked out to be little more than public transport fare. On subsequent days, we walked down to Whitby and took a taxi back.
There is a scenic route, following the Monk's Path, which leads directly to the south side of Whitby harbour, avoiding a need to cross the Esk. This is entirely offroad and saves a lot of time. In general, we found this campsite to be a practical option for exploring Whitby, and found it to be accessible without a car.
There is a really nice pub nearby, The Wilson Arms, perhaps 2 minutes walk from where we pitched. They serve meals, and are also welcoming to campers. We did not eat there, but we chose to have a few drinks there.
We had no qualms about the actual site whatsoever, the facilities are in great condition, the scenery is beautiful and the staff are welcoming.

Just come back from two weeks on this site and all I can say is this is a little gem. We had one child with us who is nine and two dogs and it is one of the safest, most welcoming sites we have ever been to, we could hear no noise at all after 9. 30, best nights sleep in ages.
The touring site has places for five tourers/motorhomes and is set back from the Camping field which is ideal. The camping field does have some pitches with electric at the top. The welcome from the Owner was lovely and were always on hand should you need them.
The showers, two for each sex were worked by a 20p machine but this gave you loads of hot water and plenty of time. The site was quite busy while we were there but this never seemed to be a problem, always clean and well stocked.
The site is about ten mins drive down to Whitby and the view from the campsite is a joy.
If we decided to come back to Whitby this would be our number one choice.

Me and my late partner were regular visitors to beacon farm. We loved the place, also the view over towards whitby. The staff are friendly and fall over them self to help you.
There is also a lovely ice cream parlour which serves ice cream that they make on site. Gut buster has to been seen to be believed. They also serves full English breakfast and in my opinion is a total bargain and very welcome. On those colder nights in the tent.
The site itself is clean with excellent disabled facilities, both me and my partner are disabled. Also there is a lovely pub in the village that serves every type of whiskies you would ever hope to try. And they have a lovely children room.
They also do lovely sea food.
If you want a site with great views friendly staff and great food, no other choice in my opinion!
I think that's about it.

Excellent value at £12 per night for 2 adults and 2 kids in a tent. Site is mainly sloping but we were pitched on one of the steeper sections which posed no problems.
Staff are excellent in that they are very helpful and friendly. Toilets are clean and never ran out of toilet paper whilst we were there. Free bouncy castle, swings, slide and climbing frame.
Quiet location handy for the coast. Papers in the shop, ice cream parlour and tearoom which does breakfast for £4. All in all a friendly welcoming site which is ideal for families.
You will find more elaborate tiled out toilet blocks elsewhere but what is provided is perfectly adequate and kept clean and stocked.
Site was apparently full whilst we were there as owner told us he had turned people away. However he said this was not due to lack of pitch space (there was loads of space) but due to lack of sufficient toilet/shower facilities for more campers. I thought this showed the consideration that they give people using the site.
Site location is handy for Whitby and surrounding areas and is quiet but near a local pub in the camra beer guide. There are not a lot of other things in the village though.

We had a 3 night stay at beacon farm in a motorhome, friendly lady on arrival and booked in fast. Found the hook up area for vans - motorhomes untidy with farm machinery all over and old ice cream cabins.
The walk to whitby on the monks path is a long way but enjoyable but not very well sign posted so had to guess and ask people for directions we took push bikes with us but found the hills too steep for my wife.
Over all a pleasant peaceful stay but in my opinion the site could do with a good tidy up including the shower/ toilet block being finished.

Visited 22nd to 23rd of April. Lady, clearly the owner, who took original call and booked us in was very friendly. The site has big park for kids, would have been good if had mine with us, but not good if you pitch tent near - oops!
The facilities were basic but clean and perfectly acceptable - it is a campsite after all not a hotel. The ice-cream was lovely. The staff were all friendly. Price very good.
Only negative was the 'views of Whitby' and picture didn't exactly match. We walked down the Monks Path. Lovely nature walk but possibly not with kids as too far. All the local people were very friendly, some of the gardens in the village were beautiful. The pub was very nice as well. Had separate family room too. Would definitely use again if going back to Whitby.
Great People and couldn't have done more for us when asked A+++++++ :) :)

Mam booked the campsite and when she told me the price I was not expecting great things however when I got there I was suprised.
The campsite was lovely had tea rooms on site with bouncy castle and children's toys for them to be kept entertained.
Owners were very helpful and showed us our pitch. Was on a slight slope but due to the heavy down pour we had on the first night this was a blessing otherwise thing we would have floated away otherwise.
Showers and toilets were not 5* but are better than others I have seen. They are cleaned regularly. You need 20p for the showers and this gets you three mins.
The pub just down the road serves good food and has a family room. I found this good as my little one wont sit so didn't feel to pressured into making him sit as it was all families.
I would recommend this campsite and would go back again.
Whitby is only a short car ride away.
Views of the abbey are really good
Oh playpark is good but my son is 2 and a half and could not climb up to use slide so could only go on swing and see saw which he found frustrating as he wanted to go on slide.

There are two areas, one small one at the top for caravans, and just below there is a large field for tents. There are just a few hook ups for tents so you need to book these in advance.
There is a fairly large playground in the tent field which for us is great - one of our children is only 3 so he can go and play with his big brother and sister and we can still see him.
If you don't have children with you it may be a bit of a pain. There is a small shop which sells a few items, and the toilets and showers are well kept up to and cleaned regularly.
The washing up area is in it's own little room so is quite good for bad weather. There is a small cafe and ice cream parlour on site (you see the Beacon Farm ice cream sold all over the area).
We didn't have anything from the cafe but we did have some ice cream. As a previous reviewer has said there was some old farm machinery and ice cream stuff lying about, but it didn't really bother us.
It is very reasonable price. Whitby is only a few minutes drive away.

We have stopped on this site for the last couple of years now. Anybody who knows Whitby will know its the place where they make the ice cream that is widely sold in the town.
Anyway the tent field is sloping and the electric pitches are at the top of the field where the points are. You will probably need to borrow an extension for your cable which is fiver deposit. The toilets and shower facilities are reasonable and clean.
For pitching frame tents which ours is the slope is a bit of a pain, likewise when trying to set up a cooker. There is also a tea room which seems widely used. The site is a few miles outside Whitby, but by car takes about 5 or 10 mins. No real gripes, prices are reasonable, would go again

This was our first visit and we were not disappointed. The play area is central to all tent pitches. So the children can play while you set up (and it's far enough away not to be disturbed by child antics)
The toilets were basic, but clean they were cleaned at least twice a day. What do you want for £12 a night?! There are washing up facilities near the toilets.
Staff were very friendly and helpful. Shop on site sells all those essentials you forgot eg matches, milk, gas bottles. Cafe great - although only opened at 9, and our 2 were ready for breakfast much earlier than that.
Overall a pleasant stay, we would return.
