Lovely small family run campsite, the owners were very friendly. We stayed for 3 nights, without EHU as none was available when we booked. We were a party of two families in two tents with 5 children between us. We arrived on a wed and had a choice of where to pitch as was very quiet, however starting filling up by fri afternoon, but still not cramped in. Before and while we were staying there was very heavy rain, however the grass drained well and did not become water logged.
There is lovely tea rooms that are very reasonably priced we used them on the last day for breakfast, they also sell delicious ice cream which we all enjoyed. The kids were very impressed with the free bouncy castle and the park.
The only thing I feel that let the site down was the wash facilities, 2 showers and 2 toilets in the ladies, were not enough as often had to queue. And they were not very clean. They could also do with been updated as no facilities for hairdryers etc, There is also no laundry facilities on site, which we managed without on this occasion but with young children it is always a possibility that they are needed.

Spent a lovely bank holiday weekend here. A nice family run site. Plenty of space between tents. If the facilities were improved this would be a wonderful site.
Would highly recommend the cafe and ice cream. Plenty of places to visit locally. North Yorkshire is a fantastic place to visit. Would recommend the Magpie in Whitby for fish and chips and Bothams tea rooms.

We planned to spend 2 nights at this site but due to torrential rain only managed the one, but what a great little site - basic but great. There is a little playground to keep the kids entertained, toilets when we stayed were ok, could have been a bit cleaner, didn't see them cleaned while we were there but to be fair we were only there 1 night. Also would have prefered the basins to be out of the loo cubicle - not so great brushing your teeth after someone had used the loo! But overall a fab little site, nice and quiet with views of Whitby and £6 per night what more could you want? Can't wait to go back.

We have just returned from a wonderful week at Beacon Farm (despite the rather chilly weather!). The kids had a great time on the playground and made lots of friends (it is very child friendly). There is a bouncy castle that the children can use and tea rooms that serve the ice-cream that's made on site. The owners could not have been more helpful and all the staff were very friendly. It's a clean site with adequate shower and toilet facilities. It has lovely views of Whitby and all in all makes for a very relaxing break. Would definitely recommend it!

The staff on the site were all friendly and helpful. The camping field is split into two areas, members and non-members. The non-members part is sloping & undulating - pick your spot carefully. You will need rock pegs. We paid £13 for 2 nights (2 adults, 2 children & a four-berth tent). The toilet block has 2 showers in both the male and female parts. Showers cost 20p, but last ages. There is also a washing up area with 2 sinks (but no plugs). In the gents there was no plug for any of the washbasins, and no handsoap in one. The site itself is reasonably clean and free of litter. We didn't use the shop but it appeared to be well stocked with essential items & sells bottled gas. The playground was busy but more than adequate. On the site there is an ice cream parlour and tea shop. The ice cream is made on the farm. Marvellous. On the other side of the courtyard behind the ice cream parlour is a barn with a bouncy castle inside. It smelt a bit musty inside, but that could be the smell of a thousand sweaty socks that have enjoyed bouncing on wet days. We visited the pub next to the campsite, but to us, it didn't seem very child friendly. We were shunted off into a side room with plastic covers over the tables. Why do pubs always insist on sticking the pool table in the family room??? Whilst we were pitching the tent, the owners of the site were harvesting a field of hay in the adjoining field with some very old tractors and threshing machines. They explained that they do displays at agricultural shows with vintage machinery, which may explain the reference in a previous review regarding old farm machinery lying about. On our last night there was no hot water and we contacted the phone number for the farm which was on the answering machine. Nothing was done until the following morning. However once aware of the problem, the staff had it sorted within five minutes. The site was quite from dusk onwards.

This is a small site in a wonderful part of the country. There is a shop on site which also serves the village, sadly the shop doesn't seem very welcoming of children but there are good shops a short drive away. We found the site to be a little low on facilities and I have to say that we were concerned about safety for the children as there was barbed wire in some places and the playground had loose logs which did cause injuries. My experience is that this isn't a site for families as the children need constant supervision, not VERY relaxing. The site was let down by the general untidiness and the nearby car wrecks and abandoned freezers alongside a great number of discarded ice cream tubs

We found this via UK Campsite and endorse all the positives! Terrific value, simple but clean and well stocked washrooms etc, children's play area, shop, tea room, ice cream made on site, (a working farm) even an inside bouncy castle! All of this at a very, very reasonable £6 a night (camping for four) Plus one minute away there is a welcoming traditional pub that has a well stocked family room. Sneaton is a picturesque small village close to Whitby but on the way in you will pass the village of Runwarp (?) where there are regular steam locos on the main line, elsewhere in that village there are boats and kayaks for hire, a nine hole course and crazy golf, a miniature railway and a local butcher. Minor, minor, minor point - could the swing be oiled so it doesn't squeak all day? I would definitely wish to book this site in the future to make sure I can get on it. Unless you like big site facilities - swimming pool, nightclub etc do make sure you use it. If it were in France we would be saying why can't our sites be as "nice" as this; simple, picturesque, family friendly and great value, a real find? The owners were also very modest and very helpful.

Second visit to this lovely site! Despite the weather being rather blustery at the start of the week, we really enjoyed our stay yet again. The owners of the site couldn't be more helpful, the views are lovely and the ice cream is delicious. Will definitely be back in the near future.

First time camping, last minute decision, and with 2 kids 6 and 3 needed somewhere good.
Pub, park and shop which lets you use the freezer for your ice packs. Theres also bouncy castle, icecream parlour, clean showers(free) and clean toilets. Beautiful views of the Abbey at Whitby, and all for 6.00 pound per night for tents and 7.50 for tents with electric, what a cheap weekend away. Will be back ASAP thanks for a good weekend, Beacon farm see you soon.

Just back from a three night stay at this camping and caravan club certificated site. Overall, we were really happy with this site. It's in a lovely location with views over to the sea and Whitby Abbey, albeit a long way off! Easy to find with helpful staff. Toilets and showers clean, 20p for a five minute shower, even though the shower I used gave plenty of hot water without the money as the slot was jammed for some reason! Free hot water in the 2 washing up sinks. Most of the site was given over to camping, split over 2 large fields, with room for 5 caravans (which all had EHU). Don't think EHU was available for all camping pitches, you'd have to check this. The playground was visible from most of the site, not really suitable for under 4's though. Plenty of room to give dogs a good run. The shop was stocked with basics and was open all day, as it served the village too. There's a lovely tea room with loads of homemade ice cream, which, after extensive testing by me and the family (for the purposes of this review, of course!) I can say was delicious! (The farm makes the ice cream on site) Also a free bouncy castle and kids trikes to play with in the courtyard. We found plenty to do, check out mini steam railway in Ruswarp, plus all the beaches nearby (Sands End is good), and Whitby itself. Pub a 10 second stagger from the camp site gates! A few minor downsides, the CDP was basically a raised manhole cover, not the best I've seen. Also the site could do with a general tidy-up, quite a bit of rubbish caught in the hedges and also a lot of old farm equipment lying around, One night there was no hot water due to power cuts during the day, but couldn't find anyone to report it to.However, at £7.50 a night inc EHU for caravans and £6.50 for tents I reckon it's good value. Would we go back? Yes,we would.
