I have been going to Dinas for almost 30 years and it gets better and better. The location and actual site are stunning and it continues to be peaceful and quiet.
There is real feel of being away from all the pressures of life especially with no mobile signal. Einir, Gordon and Lowri are lovely.
Gordon was a great help last time when I had a problem with my van. There is plenty of walking and outdoor things to do locally. The facilities are basic but adequate.
There is always plenty of hot water and I've never had to queue for a shower.
This is a simple camping site which is all the better for being so. Long may it remain the way it is.

I submitted a review for a visit in May 2011, this is an update to that review because many enhancements have been made to the site in the last 12 months that make a difference.
The bathrooms have been extended to include a baby change area, a wood-burning hot tub has been added, and you can now hire a canoe to boat on the sites own lake.
It's a shame that maybe some of those works negatively impacted on people's camping experience.
However that wasn't my own experience and I'm delighted that a site I already like is now even better.

Having been here a couple of times the year before we couldn't wait to get back for a weekend break. Although it was busier than it had been on prior visits there was still more than ample room between pitches. Our hosts, were as welcoming as ever, the only thing missing this visit were the chickens first thing in the morning and had to wonder whether they had accidentally fallen in the pot over the winter months :)
Dinas is picturesque, with some fantastic views and walks to enjoy whilst your there. Its quaint, peaceful and has plenty to see and do either on site or if you fancy something further afield much more only a short drive away. Its very laid back, friendly and you can just be yourself the whole time your there.
Facilities are basic but are more than adequate for a few days away.
Every pitch has its own wooden picnic table and bench and for a few pounds extra, what more could you ask for on a chilly April evening than a real camp fire to keep you all snuggly.
I love Dinas and so does my 7 year old. We look forward to visiting again very soon.

Dinas campsite is in a beautiful location. Quiet area a place where you should be able to get away from it all. Like I said 'should!' On arrival the campsite owner was not about. There was a couple of work men about but that was it. Due this there was no warm welcome even though we had booked in advance.
This I can cope with and fully understand that it may not always be possible for someone to be around. There was no one else at the campsite just me and my husband so we pitched the tent in the best location at the campsite. Ok so far. The owner did come over later on in the evening but didn't seem very interested and wasn't at all welcoming.
These workmen were by the toilet area so I thought I would wait a bit to use the toilet facilities. Big mistake! Now the tent was all in order I went over to the toilet block. Before I had even got in there I knew what I was about to see was not going to be good! The washing up area for your dishes was jut outside the toilets. On the draining board there was a toilet brush. Checked in case I had got it wrong and it was a dish brush but no it was definitely a toilet brush.
There was also old teabag and general dirt and grubbiness. On entering the toilets I first inspected the shower. The mat on the shower floor had large holes for the water to drain through and in these holes were solid mud.
The first toilet the seat was up and on the seat was dried on urine that looked it had been there for a long time and the second toilet was worse. The lid was down but it was smeared with blood.
The general tidiness of the toilet area wasn't good either. We were tired after our long journey and putting up the tent we definitely didn't need to find that. In future I would always check the toilet block first.
As we hadn't we decided to stay the night we went to bed early and got up early and go out of there as quick as possible. We were booked in for 7 nights but one night was one to many! Luckily the deposit we paid was only for one night.
I would give the Dinas location 10 out 0f 10 but facilities, value for money, customer service and overall rating a zero!

We happened upon this site by accident because the neighbouring one was full, thank goodness as it turned out. It is a quiet family site catering for those who can rough it without mod cons for a while.
First impressions on arrival at the farm house were a bit negative until we drove down to the actual site and then wow, huge open space surrounded by oak woodland and hills. Each pitch is clearly marked out and spacious with a picnic table and fire box for campfires.
The location in the hills, the bracken and woodland all combine to make it midge territory but that is where the firebox comes in very handy as midge control! (They really only were obvious for about an hour around dusk. )
The toilet facilities are basic but clean and well supplied with hot water. Although it is a family site there isn't the type of play facilities present in many other sites. However there are a couple of rope swings in the wooded area central to the site. There is so much open space and places to explore our 3 children were busy all day simply running about and exploring.
Previous reviews have mentioned the scary road to the site, if your are from Ireland or have visited there it's just like any country road in Donegal or Kerry, steep and winding yes, but so beautiful if you get over your city fears! It is actually a beautiful walk from the campsite down to the nearest village Llanbedr. Harlech is about 5 miles away and is a lovely place to pass a day.

Don't trust your sat-nav on this one. No, Really! The postcode must be 5 miles wide and its the scariest 1-track high-altitude road you'll ever drive! Instead, be safe follow the website directions only.
A Nice quiet camp site. No radios or music allowed and strict after 11 'all quiet'. Very peaceful. There are Two fields. Lower one is sheltered by woodland which protects you from heavy winds. Top one (nearer the walks and 100m from lake) is shared with fixed caravans and all sheltered by surrounding hills.
All pitches are pre-marked with your name in A4 plastic affixed to Picnic Tables when you arrive. Pitches look about 15-18mtrs apart which is more than most sites I've visited; so no danger of 'packing them in' here.
2 Outside sinks. Hot & cold water and standpipe. Water is pumped from a holding tank on the hill, collected from the stream and filtered; but you may want to bring your own 5ltr water bottle. Grey all rubbish bins and glass and can recycling.
No on-site shop. It's a Farm after all. Having said that, its not a muddy farm, the pitches and grass are on cut grass and its a very idyllic site. There is a picturesque lake and iron water pump with picnic seating as you enter through the gate.
Toilet block is basic and small. Its a white-washed breeze-block out-building which is kept clean. Although the squeezy soap was empty (shock horror) but plenty of paper towels. The men's toilets have 1 shower close to the exit door.
No EHU here. No FM radio waves (for headphones of course) and no Mobile signal (travelled 3 miles before it found a Vodafone signal). So bring games and a book for the evenings.
There is a payphone, but it's an extention to the farmhouse line, rather than a dedicated line, so it can sometimes be in use when you pick it up!
If you have kids, they'll love the woods and swing and perhaps a visit to the lake. Its a walkers paradise, but places of interest nearby is limited. Porthmadog can be a 30 minute queue of traffic over the water. Portmerion worth a visit. But you are really in the middle of nowhere, which is great for relaxing.
Best bit is the campfire. Metal firebin is £2.00 hire for duration of stay and logs about £2.50 which is cheap really or £4.25 if bought with kindling wood and firelighters. Enough wood for 2 hours, I'd say. Nothing quite like sitting round the campfire.
Owners are very friendly and helpful and are really hands on and will walk round to talk to everyone.
Downsides:
3 miles of single track road with few passing places and close stone field walls either side of your car meaning one of you may have to reverse a long way to find a grass verge.
Its a beautiful place, but I would struggle to find places of interest if I stayed more than a couple of nights. But to be completely cut-off, with peace and quiet and out in the wild, this is the best I've visited.

I have just returned from Dinas and feel compelled to write a deserved review for this campsite which has called us back about 4 times since our first trip in May 2011. The site was quiet on this, the most glorious of weekends. How can it be?!
The road from Llanbedr to Dinas is narrow but there are plenty of passing places and it's very quiet. Personally it gets me in the mood for the mobile-reception-free wonderland that awaits. We drove to and from the site in a camper-van and it was totally fine.
Once you get there you will find the most glorious spot. 30 camping pitches, 8 statics and the pitches are laid out such that there is plenty of room and a large grassy area is left free for children/ball games. The site is 'basic' meaning clean facilities and plenty of (free) hot water. I never had to queue to use them.
The site is fully enclosed by stone walls, there are no rivers etc. On the site. There is a patch of woodland that looks beautiful and is heaven to those who like making dens or playing hide and seek. No dogs and no loud music are the main restrictions but that suits us fine.
There's a small lake 100m from the site which currently has tadpoles and newts. The site owner has prepared some leaflets detailing walks nearby and from the campsite.
I have 2 young children and they'd be happy if we never left the site. They enjoy climbing the low stone circle, swinging on the various rope swings tucked around the site, and best of all using the stretch of smooth, safe, quiet tarmac to hone their triking / biking / scooting.
The pubs of Llanbedr do good pub food and one has an outdoor play area. Harlech has a wealth of tea rooms/cafes, a sweet shop and an amazing ice cream place. And a great castle. Barmouth is also buzzing with cafes and more of a traditional seaside feel.
However, we generally spend most of our time at the beach. Llandanwg is our favourite, with its great rock pools and lovely little cafe.
The views in this part of Wales are unbelievable. Where else in the UK are you spoilt by beautiful beaches and the imposing skyline and walking/climbing opportunities of Snowdonia. The views, no matter the weather, are fantastic.
I'd urge you to give this campsite a try. We absolutely love it there.

2nd Visit to this truly beautiful site. We were greeted like we were old friends. The site was very busy, however it was May bank holiday weekend.
Still plenty of room between pitches and no queuing for toilet and washing facilities. The sun was shinning there was ample wood delivered and there was plenty of peace and quiet.
Lots to see and do on the site, breath taking scenery and for the fittest, mountainous walks.
I will be going back in the next month or so.

Just returned from a 2 night stay at Dinas Farm.
A great site - not too big or too small!
Facilities were very clean and tidy - womens : 2 toilets and 1 shower ( not the best flow - but hot), free super hot water in toilets and washing up area. Fire pits to hire and bags of wood for very reasonable charges, picnic tables at most pitches - great idea!
The owner/manager is lovely! Very helpful and obviously works very hard. Would definitely visit again, such a great setting.

Wow. I have just visited the perfect camp site, been greeted by the perfect host and had almost perfect weather. A perfect weekend away all round. Thanks for the memories. I will, for sure, be going back to Dinas. Quite, friendly and truly pretty.
Mr Woodpecker, Mr Owl, Mrs & Mrs Sheep baaaaaa-ing and of course the clucking chickens all added to the experience. This is what I call real camping. Toilet and shower were basic but more than adequate. Plenty of FREE hot water.
Cant wait to go back and have a munch of Lawrie.
