Just returned from a long weekend at Dinas. What a gem.

It's a straight ahead farm campsite with chickens wandering around, a row of static caravans for hire and a large field, as well as numerous nooks and crannies to put up a tent.

The beauty of the site is that practically every camping pitch has it's own wooden table and benches, which comes in handy and the friendly owner will give you a fire pit and logs for a small fee, which is great in the evenings.

The location is stunning and a good base to explore places like Harlech and Dolgellau, as well as enjoy some of the fantastic beaches and the glorious nearby waterfalls.

On top of that, the nearby Victoria pub does good ale and food and is well worth a visit.

There are a few downsides however. The narrow lane leading to the farm can be horrific if someone is driving in the opposite direction. The toilet/shower block could do with some refurbishment and the refuse area could do with tidying up a little with some larger bins.

Also, bring plenty of insect repellent as the midges get into a bit of a frenzy from around 5.30pm onwards.

Having said all that, for £6 per adult (tents) and free showers, you can't go wrong and with the static caravans priced around £25 a night, it's really good value for a fabulous little spot.

I shall most definitely return.

Spent a long weekend at this site, recommended by family member. Owner very welcoming and friendly she infact makes a big difference to your stay. She is always available for advice and assistance and is genuinely interested in you having a good time.

Site lovely and quite, relaxed (pitch where you want)basic but unspoilt. Picturesque position with walks from the site which again owner very knowledgeable about.

Chickens very polite, not too nosey. Campfires allowed in fire boxes which are provided. Local information available. Plenty of hot water (free) as is freezer / fridge.

Price very reasonable and a stay in one of the statics during the colder months is a definite possibility for us. We had a great time and will return.

Just returned from a four night stay here.We were blessed with perfect camping weather! Fantastic, quiet site. Basic toilet / shower block but never had to wait. Not sure if a long stay with kids would be advisable as not a lot for them to do if they don't like nature etc.

Elinor very friendly and always helpful.

Lots of good walks to Llanbedr, Crafnant Mill. Not far from Nantcol Waterfalls, Roman Steps, Shell Island. All worth a visit.

Nice pub ( and cider!) in the pub in Llanbedr, The best venison sausages and welsh black burgers from the local butcher.

We will definitely go back.

A perfect weekend. Quiet and peaceful, only the sheep and owls to be heard. Basic toilet and shower facilities, but free hot water and very clean.

The road to the campsite is quite narrow, but a relaxing drive.

How wonderful to have a real campfire (remember firestarters and matches!) and picnic tables and benches. And they must be the freshest eggs we have ever had for breakfast.

We will definitely stay again

Had a wonderful stay over the bank holiday with our friends and their children. A real gem, one of the best sites we've visited. Toilets were a little basic but plenty of hot water and free. We were greeted by the very pleasant lady owner who was extremely helpful. They hire fire trays for camp fires and sell wood which is a great idea. We will definitely be going back.

We had three wonderful nights here.

The caravan was excellent, clean and seemed almost new. Wonderful site with Wild Goats wandering around, chickens too.

Peaceful and great walking country.

Will come back again with our Tent next time.

If you want shops and noise don't come here.

Beautiful Oak Woodlands and a small lake nearby.

We very much enjoyed our stay, and thoroughly recommend Dinas to people looking for a quiet and peaceful site and for families. Children can explore the stream and woods round about the site or play in the field. The roads are very quiet and good for cycling. There is a hill to climb just above the site.
The footpaths can be hard to follow--you will want a large scale map. The Rhinogs are nearby, beautiful and empty but hard underfoot, especially when you leave the path. Miss Pritchard is friendly and helpful and is admirably firm about noise. The caravan was fine.

Just returned last night from a weekend at Dinas with my sister and her family, and our friends.

We thought Dinas was a lovely peaceful site and Einir very friendly and helpful.

The availability of wooden picnic tables is a BRILLIANT idea. Meant all our 3 families could eat together, and just made life so much easier.

Toilet block is small and did run out of loo roll a couple of times whist we were there, but Einir did say it was an unexpectedly busy weekend for her. Showers are free. Electric point for those of you who can't survive without a hairdryer or straightener is on a meter basis.

The site itself is two main fields. We camped in the top one which was sunnier and more open. The lower one is much shadier and we reckoned home to more midges!

The site has its own lake so we were able to paddle around on our boats and canoes. On our second day we drove the 3 miles to llyn cwm bychan to go on the big lake which is 0,5 miles in length. You have to pay £3 per canoe and parking and per person so can seem a bit expensive, but worth it as all got out on the water.

The site is easy to find following the directions from the website, but is very narrow and for those towing is a bit hairy wondering if you are going to meet someone coming the other way. We went in convoy on the basis that 3 of us towing would make the other car reverse and not us!

The site recycles glass, cans and plastics which is good.

I think the main message I would give is, don't go here unless you like peace and quiet. Camp site rules are that there is no loud talking or music at any time of day or night, and Einir does follow this through. Two groups were asked to leave whilst we were there. So perhaps not a good choice of site for large boisterous groups.

We had a fab weekend and am sure will return again.

I stayed at this site to do some walking in the Rhinogs, for which it is ideally situated. The site was one of the most peaceful I've stayed on, and I was able to get to sleep without my earplugs in, which is unusual for me. There was plenty of space to spread out and the grass was mostly level and well kept. The shower and toilet block was a little 'rustic', but always clean and tidy. The owner was extremely friendly and stopped by each tent every evening for a chat. It was a fair drive down a windy road to get back to Llanbedr, where there were a couple of shops and a very good pub. Harlech was a short drive in the other direction and seemed to have a little more in the way of amenities. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Dinas Farm is a gorgeous little campsite off the beaten track, close to the coast and surrounded by beautiful countryside.

We arrived and pitched up under some trees at the bottom half of the site where you could hear the peaceful sound of a babbling brook close by.

It was heaven. The facilities were indeed very basic. The shower nothing to write home about. But it's all you need. I wore my flip flops while showering because it wasn't massively clean.

This campsite is for those of us who prefer a less commercial feel. Everything was very quiet and peaceful as well so don't come here if you want to drink until late.

The owner was friendly but we did feel like we were being judged for our age group as she patronizingly pointed out that we were to keep the noise down.

I'm sure she wouldn't have said this if we looked over 35 and had children with us but we could understand that she wanted to keep the campsite the peaceful haven that it is so didn't take it personally.

I will just add - since returning home I've counted 50 bites on me. Even after using all the necessary precautions. So careful where you pitch and bring lots and lots of insect repellent!?
