Wow, what a lovely quirky site, right in the heart of Lizard village with its pubs, shops and cafes; and only a 15 minute walk out to the coast and Lizard Point. Pitches are all individual and level and some quite private. There are plenty of water points and some electric hook ups. Toilets and showers (20p) are unisex, there is a laundry, loads of sculpture and art, exotic plants and a field with pigs, alpacas, goats, chickens and ducks. The chickens and ducks wander all over the site as well and there's also some guinea pigs in cages. Fresh coffee and cider are available on site and in season there is a café / take-away. Tucked away in a corner is a covered fire pit with terraced seating, apparently a great place for a bit of musical instrument playing and singing. Portable fire pits are also available to hire.
If you go down to Lizard point there is a lovely café that serves a mean cream tea and meringues the size of dinner plates.
The nearest dog friendly beach (20 mins walk) is no longer accessible due to coastal erosion.
Though we were there in low season (very quiet) we would love to return in the summer as we imagine that the site has quite a festival feel to it. Will definitely go back, such a chilled relaxing site.

We had a really lovely week at this site and would certainly go back there again. Our pitch was a lovely private walled enclosure with many plants and flowers. We were there during the second week of July and it was extremely hot so we were grateful for the shade provided by the trees around our pitch. The site may be unusual but it is very well run. We thought that the shop, The galleon (café) and the showers were great, no problems at all.
I like a site such as this where the owner is hands on and friendly. We found that everyone who worked there was helpful and they really work hard all day. We also liked the fact that it went quiet after 11pm when we were there. There are some lovely animals in a field next to the site and chicks and ducks on the site itself. The location is fantastic! you can walk into the village for food or a drink in a couple of minutes or wander down to the Lizard point in 10 minutes. There are many beautiful walks nearby around the cliffs and coves and we even saw a Cornish chough.
One of the good innovations at the campsite, at least on our pitch was the piece of artificial grass laid where our tent was pitched. It made such a difference when we packed up, no dampness, slugs or mud. It was a really good idea.
On our last night there was a singer performing in the main field. He was great and lots of campers brought out their chairs and cider to form an appreciative audience. A perfect end to a wonderful week.

This site is a little different. Not the bog standard sterile (imho) open field with a toilet block in the middle. Most pitches are surrounded by plants and bushes- and even the odd palm tree. There is a small building with 2 toilets and 2 showers in it, along with another couple in 2 smaller 'outhouses'. There is an on site shop and a galley that sells breakfast and a small selection of evening meals. Great walks (not too taxing) to various coves, and the village is 5 minutes walk. A little expensive? Maybe, but worth it. If I could wish for anything more- it would be for better showers!

This is a really special campsite. Stunning views and easy access to local beaches. We found the facilities to be good and the shop to be excellent. Really liked that you could buy all sorts of things in terms of both food and little treats.
There is also a wonderful central tent in which a fire burns each night and during our time there there was an either lovely music and/or storytelling which gave each day a special ending.
The fellow campers were lovely, relaxed and very friendly. The only recommendation would be to have more on-site space for children to play / run / climb yet I can see that would be tricky.
We also loved the fact that for most part we were unable to get a mobile / 3G signal which meant we were quite literally out of this world! We came home amazingly refreshed and replenished.

Lovely site but we felt expensive for the facilities provided at the time of our 3 night visit, though the location is superb and the site layout itself and the laid back ambience is really good. Particularly liked being able to have a roaring fire basket at our pitch. We did not appreciate the lack of cleanliness at the shower / washroom facilities. These were a 'work in progress' during our visit, and I am sure will be very smart once complete, but could have been kept cleaner for those of us expected to have to use them during the refurb.
A few more lights to show the way home after a night down the pub would be welcome. (we had a torch, but the tracks are uneven)
For pub atmosphere avoid Top House, an absolute horror, and Housel Bay (no real ale) and go to Witch Ball, which is excellent. Lizard butcher has top quality stuff and Ann's Pasties are really very good.
Walk to Cadgwith (5m return) and to Kynance for stunning cliff top scenery.
Glad we stayed. The site would be brilliant with just a little more attention to detail.

We arrived to a warm welcome from Ron (his sister is Jo who co owns this site)and were shown to our pitch (Sugar loaf) and we were shown where the facilities were. It is a very bohemian site with lots of long stayers.
The views I imagine would have been spectacular however it was cloudy and foggy when we went.
The only gripe I have is the cost as were were charged per person rather than per unit (like eveywhere else) and this was £23. 50 which was £5 more than most of the other places we stayed.
Also with the cost being so steep I really expected free showers! its a shame there was not another site in Lizard as this makes them a monopoly for the immediate area.

As others have said, this is a lovely, quirky campsite. Fab location, lovely walks, coves and so on and Lizard village has just enough along with the shop on site. Toilets, showers are fine, although 20p or even 60p doesn't last long. Beautifully laid out with impromptu acoustic music session. It was quite busy and you are quite close to your neighbours, although with the layout it's not cramped. My one major let down regards dogs. While I appreciate the problems some dog owners may cause on sites, I would prefer site owners to have a no dog policy so I know where to camp. On this site there are notices warning dogs owners that if your dog poos on site, even if you clean it up properly, you will be asked to leave. This left me stressed and our dogs found themselves being dragged up the site and over an impossible stile onto the track. I do understand that there are thoughtless owners and I hate dog poo as much as the next person, but I found this spoiled my stay here, and I wouldn't return with dogs.

I read lots of reviews about this site before booking, and to be honest it was a bit of a case of 'fingers crossed' because I wasn't sure what 'quirky' really meant! Anyway, very friendly welcome, the site had a nice atmosphere, we had a spacious pitch and location is really good. However, I think it is more geared up to tents and campervans rather than our high motorhome - the track through the top of the site was a squeeze, with overhanging trees and lots of ominous scraping noises! There were a couple of caravans there, but I would have thought access might have been a bit tricky. We could see the sea from our pitch (when the mist rose!), and it's an easy walk down to the Lizard point.
We had a lovely cream tea in Britian's most southerly cafe, and there is also a very nice gift shop there - really helpful lady serving, told us about the local artist (we bought one of her prints). We also walked to Kynance Cove, and had another cream team overlooking the beach. Seemed very popular, but worth noting that it's quite a steep walk down to the beach from the path (or car park). We also visited Flambards whilst we were there (about half an hour's drive). The indoor displays are great, but the outside area with the rides is a bit tatty. We were glad we'd been able to use Tescos clubcard vouchers to cover half the cost of getting in, as quite expensive for what it is.
Back to the site, the real downside for us were the toilets and showers. We weren't expecting five star loos, as already warned in a previous review, but they didn't feel clean, and to be honest that's a basic requirement as far as I'm concerned.

I have to go agree with some of the other reviewers in as much that although the site is in a nice location and the layout and atmosphere is pleasant I think it is overpriced.
£22 a night in late September is quite high considering the facilities are dated and quite shabby and at the time of our visit were not particularly clean and although I expect to pay for showers on a lot of sites you would normally expect 20p to last more than 1 minute!
Access is fairly tight for large motorhome.

Stayed here twice, its a very quirky site the showers were 20p but they were ok, and the welcome was great. The walking from here is superb and Kynance cove is a must see. All the facilities here are basic but they all work and do what they are supposed to do. The views are great and the pitches are all individual and although the site may be full it never seems like your all on top of each other. It is a little pricey but as a treat I think its worth it. There is also 2 pubs fish and chippy nearby, or just hire a log basket with logs from the suite and have a BBQ.
