Beautiful site, amazing hosts, quiet, peaceful and secluded with easy access to the the most beautiful places in England.
What more could anyone ask?
The perfect pitch for people wanting to really get away from it all.
We loved everything- the walking, the country lanes, the scenery and the isolation.
Leave your mobile at home, leave the stress being, escape to the hideaway.

Stayed during the Easter School Holidays. There are several Plus and minus points of the site which I hope others will find useful in deciding if the site is for you.
Originally booked expecting the children's play area to be built by now but it wasn't.
Arrived and the site was very quiet (1-2 caravans on site with people) but it was early in the season so that was to be expected.
Were initially met but as per the December 2016 review we saw very little activity during our 9 day stay in the reception / welcome area.
As I was setting up were told that our youngest couldn't play football on the largish grass area near the caravans (fair enough) but when we looked for the Children's play field it was knee high grass (adult knee) and stayed that way all during our visit.
Toilet block whilst immaculate and beautifully tiled only has 2 toilets, 3 sinks and 2 showers. So when it did get slightly busier there were waiting times for the Showers etc. Water was lovely and hot(direct boiler) so no complaints there.
Toilets/ Shower/ Washing up/ Washing machine block was shut between 12-2 which again meant using your own toilet (not a problem for us caravaner's) but for Tenting folk without a porta potty maybe.
3 Washing up sinks and sadly the Laundry room was yet another area not completed yet (no Washing machine to use)
The facilities were also not available for Children, so We ended up using the caravan toilet for our children frequently.
Site is in the middle of nowhere so is down single track roads with passing points which at Easter might not be a problem but in high season might be.
No 4G (vodaphone) where we were (phone signal patchy generally) and the on site wifi was poor so bare that in mind for elder children (our eldest wasn't impressed). Decent TV signal through the standard van ariel (didn't need the Satellite)
Lovely beauty spa on site but never saw it open.
My wife did use the Artist Studio with the local Artist and really enjoyed that.
5 Bells pub - 2. 2 mile walk down the lanes had cheap pub grub (7-8 quid) and a decent pint (beer).
Sun beamed into the campsite during our stay in the early evening so I would imagine in the summer it would be lovely sitting out.
Electric hookup on all pitches that we could see with a few water points. Due to the design of the site you would make best use of your pitch with a motor mover by placing your caravan facing inwards on several pitches to get the Sun in the awning. We couldn't as we don't have one and were told to keep off the grass with vehicles.
Felicity's Farm shop in nearby Morecombelake has on site coffee shop, premium local butcher and local baked goods. We had some lovely Hot cross buns (twice as good as supermarket fair). Morrisons and Lidl in nearby Bridport.
Westbay had a nice children's play area and at the time we visited all partking in West Dorset was 2 quid all day. West beach all Pebble and East Beach was being rebuilt so cant comment.
So our overall view is the site is lovely for Couples looking for a pamper (if it was open) or for People looking for a chilled relax away from it all.
As it stands at the moment with the facilities (lack of for Children including the ) and rules its not for Families with Children.

We stayed at the Dorset Hideaway Campsite over Christmas and New Year for 11 nights.
We found no signs at all for the campsite, just signs saying Dorset Spa and Beauty in hedges as we were driving along, and when we arrived we were not even sure if we had arrived at the campsite as there was no signage regarding the caravan field, just one instructing you to Close the Gate and drove past and had to turn round and go back.
When we arrived at the site we phoned the mobile number on the reception door which was not answered - the reception remained closed for the whole of the 11 days, and no one was ever seen in the reception and no warden was based on the site. We had paid the full amount on line prior to the holiday, and a gentleman did came over and showed us to our pitch.
They say that 'It’s the shop to buy local produce & crafts, place an order for milk & daily bread/croissants, place a food order for evening take-aways, (on set days) freeze ice packs, buy a cold drink, ice lolly or ice cream, report a problem' It was never open, and we never saw the visiting fish & chip van or a wood fired pizza oven van
The entrance to the disabled facilities is poorly lit, and one day when it rained, I couldn't even get into use them as the sloped entrance was full of water and there was a massive build up of water. Even the light at the end of our pitch was not working.
I used the disabled facilities and they were not cleaned whilst we were there, I even wrote in the dust on the hand basin. The toilet rolls were stuck on top of the disabled hand rail as there was no toilet roll holder. There was nowhere to hang clothes or towels, nowhere to put shampoo, shower gel bottles etc, unless you left them on the floor. I had to take my own chair in to sit down on after having a shower to assist me in dressing, unless I risked getting my socks wet in the shower. The water was luke warm in the shower, and cold in the hand basin when I went over to wash.
My husband and son used the gents toilets, their were no urinals, just 2 toilets and 2 showers, so when the campsite filled up over the Christmas period and there was a dozen caravans on the site, they were full and people had to queue. He said that they weren't very clean either.
Yes there are washing up facilities, again they looked nice, but the light kept going off every minute or two, so you were frequently left in the dark trying to get the light back on and wash up in luke warm water.
They say 'The laundry is not available before 10am & after 7pm to maintain the peace on site' There was a locked laundry room which contained a washing machine that was brand new, wrapped up and not plumbed in, so no one could use it and I came home with 3 lots of bedding, towels and clothes to do when I got home.
Mobile phone signals are very intermittent, the internet is not available in the caravan pitches. There is a little unheated room next to the office, where my teenage son spent most of his evenings chatting to his friends, but he said the internet speed was so slow, its unbelievable. When my friends and family phoned on Christmas Day they again couldn't reach us due to no phone signals
It was that cold whilst we were there even the water tap on the pitch froze one night as it wasn't insulated. We also had 2 or 3 power cuts whilst we were there, and the site only has 10 amp hook ups, so be careful if you have the electric fire on at the same time as the kettle as it blows the electric.
The bin shed was full of rubbish and we didn't see the bins emptied at all whilst we were there, no one from the site made any effort to clean it up, empty the bins or remove any waste.
For the price we paid, we would not recommend the site. With a bit more care and attention, it could be a really nice site. We have stayed on several rural sites over Christmas and New Year before as we have been caravanning for 20 years and this is the only site that we have been disappointed with.

This is a beautiful caravan site with lovely helpful owners. My family & I stayed here 2 nights in a motorhome in August 2016. Very narrow road for a motorhome down to this location but if you are looking for a peaceful retreat. This is the place! The Dorset Hideaway has got a new toilet & shower block building, which was cleaned every day! I am very fussy about toilets & showers but these were spotless! Thank you Esther & family for a lovely stay

We're just back from a week long family holiday on this site. It's a good site. There is a very new and modern 'scrub' building housing showers, toilets etc plus indoor washing up facilities and a small laundry room. It didn't get too busy, although the site felt nearly full, but if it had there is a second older block just behind for overflow. There's also a little shop and a small room with tourist information. Plus a small children's playground and football pitch.
There's a spa on-site offering lots of different treatments, plus a hot tub. We didn't try it, but it was very new looking.
The site has a very manicured main area with lots of hard standings and hook ups. There's also a grassed area here that's very well kept and has space for some tents. We were on the adjacent field which suited us better. No hard standings, just a wide strip of mown grass and a massive area of uncut grass. We were still close enough to the facilities, but it was a little less crowded and more of a tent site. We're dedicated tent campers and not keen on being pitched next to a van or caravan. The glamping tents were further along in our field and looked really good.
Overall it's a very well cared for site. It's quite remote though. Just for a family car some of the lanes were narrow and we had to back up to a passing place several times. I'm not sure I'd fancy it in a larger vehicle or towing a caravan, but if you're a confident driver and experienced caravanner you'd be ok. It's quite a way to a shop - it'd probably take half an hour to drive to and from somewhere for a pint of milk. That's ok, so long as you're organised! Plus the on-site shop had some essentials most of the time.

We're just back from a two week long family holiday on this site. It's a nice quite quality site. There is a new and modern building housing showers, toilets etc plus indoor washing up facilities and a small laundry room. I preferred to use the older block just behind the new as the showers were much better. There's also a little shop and a small room with tourist information. Plus a small children's playground.
There's a spa on-site offering lots of different treatments, plus a hot tub. My wife (had a massage) Me a foot scrub, Which we can both say was very good.
Overall it's a very well cared for site. It's quite remote though. As some other reviewers have commented the lanes leading to the site are narrow. We followed the directions and took it slowly and had no issues
It's remote location means lots of peace & quite which we were after but it did mean its quite a drive to get any where.
The only thing that spoiled our two weeks was the inconsiderate campers that allowed their dogs run loose and mess on the pitches. I did complain to the owners who did have strong words with these inconsiderate chav individual's. However they just seemed to thing they could and would do as they please. This was not the sites fault but was unfair to the other dog owners that showed respect to the rule of having dogs on leads at all times. Would we use again yes we would.

I mirror the other reviews, this truely is a lovely site. The facilities are clean, modern and well thought out. It's quiet, gorgeous views the beach is only 15 mins away and there is an amazing fish and chip shop in Charmouth. Owners are pleasant and helpful too.
However having said all that, it is not the site for me. The drive to the site once I'd left the A35 was perfectly do'able with my touring unit, but it wouldn't have been much fun if we'd met another coming the other way in places.
It was raining hard the whole weekend we were there, so I can not comment on the children's play area.
Whilst the dog walk area is fenced and secure, it is really rather small for bigger dogs and dogs are not permitted at all in the large grassy areas around the lakes.
I would still recommend the site although it is at the top of my price range and I'm sure you would have a lovely time

Lovely little site. 4* Hotel standard facilities and fantastic views. Very spacious pitches and extremely well maintained. And very good value in my opinion.
Very tight narrow lanes to get here - definitely use the instructions on the website not your sat-nav!
That said a very good location for visiting Lyme Regis, Charmouth and surrounding area.
Lovely and quiet when we visited, family friendly - only a small play area but then plenty of space for kids to make their own entertainment! And a spa for the grownups!
The owner and team were extremely helpful, polite and friendly.
My only regret is not getting a chance to use the on site Spa - which looked lovely.

Just returned from another excellent week at our favourite campsite. This site has the best of everything.
The owners have really worked hard in the winter to completely upgrade everything, new larger fully serviced pitches with open views of the countryside, dog walk area, new reception, WIFI, fishing lake, Play area for games, kite flying etc, and whilst not quite complete a brand new building featuring modern showers, toilets, washing room, spa treatments, and numerous other goodies.
Esther the owner is so friendly and helpful, she goes out of her way to make your holiday special.
The site is set in the countryside for those who want a slightly more peaceful break, however is only a few miles away from the busy towns of Bridport, Lymregis, & west bay.
Seatown with the fantastic beach & Anchor inn Pub is also close by. The Hive beach café at Burton Bradstock is also a must for all you foody lovers out there.
We will be back again next year.

Well this was our third or fourth visit to this fantastic site. We feel guilty for not leaving a review before. The site, as many others have said is a real gem, a hidden treasure that you should really take the trouble to visit.
It is secluded, and some trek off the main beaten track, but that is its beauty as well. Esther the owner, as others have said is a real delight and cannot do enough for you, which was certainly welcomed by us as we were originally first timers to caravanning when we first went there last year!
The site itself is really great, just the right size for us. The facilities are also fab, and perfectly scaled for the size of the site. As I said before we have been quite a few times and never had to really queue for wash-up, showers etc. They are kept nice and clean as well.
Our two little girls (6 & 3) were over the moon with the mini playground area on site, and made lots of friends in no time at all - which made our time that bit easier!
We are off there again twice this year, we love it so much, Charmouth nearby is lovely to visit and only 5 minutes away, with Bridport, West Bay and other lovely places within an easy drive.
Lastly, the scenery from the site is quite stunning, with long uninterrupted views across the dorset countryside, and peaceful beyond words. With these natural assets it doesn't need anything else, but Esther makes sure your stay is as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.
