We have just arrived back from a two night stay at Upton Barn, and I can honestly say it has been one of our best weekends of camping! Spoilt by the rain on the first day, the staff were only too happy to allow us to dry our wet clothes on their radiators, which was a godsend!
The camp site itself is beautiful, with a picturesque lake, nice layout and overall, a lovely place to stay. I was surprised to read such negative comments, especially about the 'lack of fish'. We also didn't catch, but the man beside me caught 8, so you can't blame the owners when your bait isn't appealing!
The toilets were absolutely spotless, and cleaned every few hours. Never did we enter them and find anything unpleasant! they smelt fresh, clean and never without toilet roll!
The pool. Yes, there are a few picky faults, if you're looking for them, it could probably do with a bit of a makeover, but it was still clean, and our kids had hours of fun in there! It's a Barn, it has character, so the little things some people complain about on here didn't bother us!
We did attempt to try out the 'disco' but sadly, that wasn't what we thought. Not a problem though, we all have different opinions on things, and it's not a complaint, it just wasn't what we wanted.
So, overall, we had a wonderful time, it was perfect for what us, and the children wanted, the play field, the play area, the pool, the snack van, the pub. It was fab, and we will definitely go again!
Thank you!

We have just returned from a weekend rally at Upton Barn.
Where do I start, well the rally went well, being at the end of Feb / early March the ground was somewhat boggy in areas, but our Marshall's were told to use any pitch they wanted that was dry.
The site although on our doorstep, is one have never stayed at, we always felt that it was overpriced for what it is, yes it has electronic gates, fishing, children's play area, electric hook up etc
But the fishing is poor, if not totally none existent, the children's play area looks old and in some places dangerously worn out, and how the site can 'boast' a swimming pool and toilets and showers is mind boggling,
The Pool, is 50 years old, is housed in a very old greenhouse type building and looks totally unusable, it's so filthy, and the steps into the pool are rusty !
The Toilets and showers are possibly the worst I have ever seen, again to the point of being dangerous with an old chicken coop heating lamp hanging by the shower doors.
The bar is very small although it has a decent outdoor area for use in the summer.
We had use of 'the barn'. Which is so surreal, we didn't stay long, Yes they have a disco every Friday and Saturday in there, but it felt dirty, smelt dirty and I wouldn't want to go back in there.
Overall, I can see what the owners have tried to do on a shoestring budget, but to charge what they are charging for a nights stop, I can't see what the attraction is when there are nicer places locally for less money.
I would hope the owners of upton barn would spend a little more on the site soon, You can start with fencing off the piles of rubbish that greet you as you enter the site, and move the old green decaying caravans on the right, past the bins, they look awful !
Fit 16 amp electric, hard standings, stock the lake, demolish the pool and start again and build a purpose built toilet and shower block, and do something with that barn, it's disgusting !
Then you can charge what your charging now and people won't be astonished at the bill !, This weekend would have cost £44 normally !
We won't be returning, but will monitor the progress of the site and it's owners in the hope they can actually see and realise the sites potential

Booking very quick and easy
Directions good but need a sign at start of Upton village to confirm left or right turn
Security gate manned and good welcome and directions to pitch (booked in advance near kids play area)
Level nice pitch
No obvious motorhome point
Bar small but had a beer - fine but didn't fancy food after visiting toilets - both in bar area and campsite - these are Very very poor - old and cannot be kept clean - the bottoms of the toilets pans have never seen a good scrub - ugh! Ran out of soap - paper - hand towels during our stay - not good with young kids
Swimming pool - well we paid our money and went swimming because that's what's kids went for - it was warm - but frankly filthy - changing facilities available but poor privacy (doors don't lock) and have to walk across yard in mud and rain to take kids to poor maintained toilets - which I am certain brings bugs back into pool or worse discourages some from using toilets!
All staff we met were polite but they need to put same effort into hygiene - come guys this is 2013 and toilet standards are what was accepted in 1950s farm camping!
Kids play area is disappointing - a single apparatus connected by a series of rope bridges with a slide a one end and a Rowe with small slide - that's it! Hardly constitutes kids play area - and to crown it there was dog pooh in the area!
Nice big field to run around in for frisbee and football and if you like fishing the lake looks good and well maintained - sadly we don't fish :-(
Would I revisit yes -IF pool area was properly cleaned and maintained and toilets were refurbished and maintained - and need more of them!
If we had paid £5 or £10 maybe that's what you can expect but we paid £25 for pitch with elec plus £6. 50 for three of us to use pool plus £1. 20 each for cheapo kids lemonade in bar (sort of thing that is 10p a bottle from market stall)
So like many reviews I think this site has potential to be very very good but the poor facilities/hygiene and overpriced make this one to miss at present until problem are addressed.

I spent a month camping at this camping/caravan site. It was great. The Family were totally professional, extremely kind, and fun to be with. I have not been to a site before where the owners put so much energy and effort into making your holiday/stay as easy, stress free and as enjoyable as possible. Thanks Family. Look forward to passing through again one day. Highly recommended!

The owners here are lovely. We stayed in a huge family group over 2 pitches with ehu for 2 nights. The site has lots of potential and the lake and fishing look idyllic, however the pool needs some serious upkeep. It's over 50 years old according to owner and it looks like it needs a good scrub and some serious maintenance. The toilet and showers are basic, functional but need another block as 2 ladies loos is not enough. The park was great for bigger kids but not for under 10's. Bar area looked ok but we didn't use as we prefer chilling by tent.
Overall if this was updated it would be an excellent site. Nonetheless we probably will return as its so near to us!

This is our second visit to Upton barns, My Wife and I stayed in the bed and breakfast for a long week-end. We stayed in room 6 in the main house, It is a double room with on-suite (shower, toilet, hand basin), The décor, fixtures and fittings are somewhat dated but well maintained and perfectly serviceable. The room has TV with Freeview and generous Tea/Coffee facilities, A small mirror for make up and ample wardrobe and draw space. Access to this room and all other guest rooms in the main house is from the first floor, so not to many stairs to climb.
The complex boasts a Restaurant, Free house bar, Swimming Pool, Function Barn, Fishing Lake and Wi-Fi access.
The staff cannot be faulted, nothing is to much trouble, you just get the feeling that, within reason, they would bend over backwards to make your stay with them a pleasurable experience.
The price per night for staying at the establishment as a B&B guest is slightly more than you would pay for a basic room at a Premier Inn, but when you consider that, as a guest you have access to all the above amenities at no extra cost its incredible value for money.

We visited Upton Barns at the end of may 2013 for the Bank holiday weekend.
The site is very nice with grass pitches we had a lovely weekend here.
There is a park for the kids to play on all day and a big well kept field for ball games, and also a dog walk with a specified bin for the dog waste bags which is good.
There is a lovely little bar and restaurant which serves some lovely food but can be a bit expensive.
There is a small swimming pool there with a sort of greenhouse over the top so its indoors out of the weather.
On the whole for what it is its a lovely local getaway for when the weather is nice the only downside if your camping in a tent the toilet and shower facilities are very dated.

Brilliant site, we stumbled upon almost by accident, good location for local attraction tywcross zoo and bosworth, with conkers just up the road.
The staff were helpful and friendly and always available, the toilets and showers were clean and checked at regular intervals
Onsite pool a hit with the kids, prices fair the water was clean and warm
The snack bar open at lunch time and again in the evening, although not on Sundays, was reasonably priced with good sized portions, a licensed bar too.
Free fishing, huge children's play area plenty of room between pitches
Really enjoyed our stay and had booked again before we left

3rd stay at this site, although the facilities are basic they have been balanced by free fishing.
Very disappointed this time as not so much a caravan site for all, but more a retreat for people doing odd jobs, residents and regular weekender all wanting to do what they want regardless of others.
Wi-Fi often switched off, if you ask they will say having problems, but this is the same story as last year.
Nice children's play area and small swimming poo.
Some parties noisy at night and nothing said to them.

We stayed here for 3 nights-first attempt with our new Tenby 10 tent.
As mentioned the loos and showers are poor-they were cleaned regularly, but are very dated (lino floors, plywood walls etc).
Our children (4 of them!) enjoyed the swimming pool (£1. 50 for kids) and the playground-although it is more suited to older children, they also tried their hands at fishing (which is free).
The owners are very friendly and willing to chat about the site and improvements, the bar is good value (cone of chips £1).
Overall, (toilets/showers aside) this is a nice park, we will definitely return.
