We previously stayed here in late September/October last year and have just returned from the site this year.
I didn't leave a review last year but the same applies!
The site is very conveniently located a few miles West of Brecon and literally just off the A40. We used the site as a base for walking and have found its location convenient for 'access all areas'.
The site is a long field with a smooth hardcore track running through the centre of the site. The field itself borders the river which I have only seen in a fast flowing state and would not consider it safe for children to play in. There is a nearly vertical 4 ft bank straight into water. There is a gentler access point at the far end of the site however care would be needed to enter / exit the water.
There are a few (10?) permanently sited touring caravans and opposite these is the area for visiting touring caravans and tents. The 'visiting' unit part of the site is a grass field located to one side of the central hardcore track. Both times I have visited, the field has been relatively 'soggy'. The earth is very red and quite claggy when soggy. Because of this a trip to the facilities can be a soggy affair and I suggest wellies or 'crocs' are an essential item if the site is wet.
The facilities consist of 2 combined shower / toilet units and 2 additional toilets. There is also a washing up 'room'.
The showers are unlimited and hot with ample pressure. The facilities are kept very clean but the floors can appear dirty because of the red earth!
The wash up 'room' has no hot water or light so you'll need to heat your own water and wash up during daylight hours or take a torch.
We have not used them but electric hook ups are available for tents and caravans but you'll need to check well in advance for availability.
I would suggest that you phone to book a pitch or enquire as I have not had a response from email enquiries in the past.
There is the possibility to have an open fire if the weather permits, logs are available from the site owners.
We are not aware of any facilities such as pubs and shops etc nearby, not to say there aren't any but we haven't looked!
There is a childs play area with slide and climbing frame etc which looks like fun (if your a child!)
We really like this site because of its friendliness, location and value for money.

Having read the reviews, I booked this site for 1 night with my son, to make sure our camping gear was ok for the new season. On arrival you go to the farmhouse first to check in, on this occasion my details weren’t listed (I had emailed a booking form through 3 days before) but they weren’t full so told me to go down to the site and pitch anywhere.
There was plenty of room and the site is flat. We pitched backing onto the river and it was so windy we nearly ended up in it! Luckily 2 men from the other pitches came and helped out.
The facilities were clean and the showers hot - one of the toilets was dirty at about 6pm but was clean by 8pm. Very impressive.
There is also Dai who came over and checked everything was ok, as the owners were away he was watching over the site and gave me a brief overview of the facilities.
They could do with hot water in the washing up area, I was lucky and had electric so could boil the kettle but would have struggled to wash greasy frying pans in cold water. There is electric in the cabins so hot water could be installed on a meter which would pay for itself?
The site was great for kids with a climbing frame and swings, there is also the river which plenty of kids were playing in with nets and canoes.
The site was very quiet at night, there is another site across the river and that was also quiet - it isn’t linked to this but is very close.
There were a lot of dogs here, most were on leads, some weren’t. My son isn’t too keen on them but soon made friends with the farm dog ‘Tess’ who was running around for a few hours and very friendly. If I went back with my daughter (aged 4) she would spend most of the time in the car if Tess was there as she is terrified of dogs.
A very nice site, I will definitely consider returning, there’s nowhere to eat or drink locally but a great place to relax and a large supermarket fairly close by in Brecon if needed for longer stays.

Second visit this year, again the site was just perfect, we got their and alas no EHU but site owner just came down and put a splitter on and a extension for us amazing,
It was absolutely lashing it down most of the days but died off an evening allowing us are campfires, the river was up and down, which is perfect for paddling (kayaks)
The site is central so plenty to do, waterfall walks 30 minutes drive, the link to the waterfall walks says 2 hour easy walk ( not so easy has a 800m accent and decent )
Takes closer to 3 and half, But worth it to walk under the waterfalls, Cardiff white water centre is a 45 minute drive, and a multitude of grade 2 to grade 5 rivers to run, again all within a 60 minute drive max to get to them,
The site is going through a upgrade during the close down time, new toilet and shower block, and more EHU, cant wait for next year
At a fiver a night per person and 3 quid for the wood you cant beat that

First visit but most definitely not my last, The toilets where clean the showers clean (and free)
Plenty of space, even a small park for the little ones, We spent 3 nights here and wished for more
Andy the site owner is great and pops in at least once a day to see if all is well, also a chap who stays on site most of the season round (dave) is a mini tourist information center, gave us amazing places to go see and was a great host (sorts out wood and bits and bobs for the site)
We had a river side EHU pitch and I couldn't have asked for more only down side is a trip into brecon for your basics milk and bread.
Will be returning as the value for money is outstanding, the fire bins are free the wood is 3 quid a bag

Definitely one of the best campsites we have ever stayed! Andy and Kay are very welcoming and we thoroughly enjoyed having an evening beer under the stars with the caravan club! The hog roast was superb and a fantastic surprise!
The river running through the fields just adds to the ambience and the facilities were spotless.
Being allowed to have a campfire is a brilliant bonus and enhances the experience.
Perfect location, fabulous setting, lovely people - 10/10! We can't wait for our next visit!

We stayed here for one night as we are totally new to caravanning and this was within half hr drive of our house.
The owners were fantastic TBH and the showers toilets were spotless. Our only regret is we didn't stay longer but that will be remedied next week, lovely and peaceful just what we needed.
There are brazers there for fires and you can buy logs to have a camp fire, you can also get free range eggs and the location of the site is very good with Brecon being a few mins drive away,
I did notice there was a bus stop just on the main road if you want to leave the car. Roll on next week

We enjoyed our stay here, the field was reasonably level and we were able to pitch next to the river. There are only 2 showers and 2 toilets, but we never had to wait to use them, and they were always clean.
We would go back if in the area, as it was very reasonably priced and in a central location where we could easily get to the places we wished to visit. The owner was friendly and you can pick your own fruit just up the road from the campsite.
Would definitely recommend to other people.

I feel I have to answer some of the critics, this is not a one field site, if the website is read in full you will realise that their are two fields, one main field, and one which is used for rallies, and for people who wish to get away from it all total seclusion (quiet) There are toilets in this field and running water, if you want a shower then you have to come to the main field, Andy has just had a play area installed on the main field and a wash room for campers cooking utensils, Loud music as never been a problem here, I am not saying it does not happen, it is very rare, they cannot control what comes over from the other side of the river.
The seasonal residents are always willing to offer help or advise,
Along with Andy's and Kay The seasonal campers are organising hogroasts/barbecue evenings for all the site, which have been very successful, myself I love to hear the sound of people enjoying themselves the laughter of children or adults for that matter.
I know more about this site because I did the website and look after it and I am a seasonal camper there.

The web-site explains well: this is a one field site, one side with semi-permanent caravans (half a bit scrubby, most flying Welsh flags and satellite dishes)the other side for tents- flat and and edging the river.
For a popular week-end the site was not busy, plenty of space for our 2 families 5 (5/6 yr old) children to run around. The surrounding countryside is beautiful, as are the views beyond the campsite, the site is by the A40 which (on the Sunday) had plenty of racing/touring motor-bikes.
The facilities were perfectly adequate and well kept.
We had 2 problems with campers playing amplified/car music (one from the site over the river)and when asked to turn it down they obliged. However, other peoples' amplified/car music is not what I want to be dealing with on a weekends camping.

Just got back from site love the location is very idyllic. But oh the mud and then some more mud. Hardcore is non existent the track to all pitches is full of craters full of water & mud. If you don't posses wellies then your are in trouble. There are no paths to toilets & showers just great expanse of mud. So this meant that the floors of the facilities were muddy to say the least.
Electrics were a bit on the low voltage side as the whole site tripped a fuse twice, we were told to use gas appliances as much as possible costing us a small fortune as it was cold. Luckily we were only staying for the Easter bank Holiday.
This was our second visit to the site we were informed the price had risen substantially so we assumed that the facilities had improved. Last year when we stayed we knew it was cheap & cheerful with a very friendly owner which is fine but not when you are paying a good price to stay.
I must say in fairness to Andy when we pointed out our disappointments to him he agreed with our valid points and reimbursed some of our payment.
I would say if you happen to stay when the weather is good it would be a fantastic site.
Also I would like to mention we had a two year old in our group so beware of the river, it can be fast flowing and there is no fence to stop children falling in.
