We've just come back from our second visit to Hidden Springs and we loved it! A small, select site with not too many pitches, it pays to book in advance and visit. How can you go wrong with a really nice and well laid out campsite situated on a vineyard?!
The amenities are really good and with not too many campers, clean with plenty of hot water. It is down to the other campers to make sure that it stays that way - leave the showers how you would like to find them, especially when they are so nice to start with! (little dig at the woman who used the shower before me and didn't bother to mop up!)

The smallholding is a definite labour of love for the owners and the wine, cider and apple juice they produce is absolutely delicious - worth booking a wine tasting session with the owner!

Camp fires are a big bonus and using the fire rings makes things safer and easier to contain.

The site is very child friendly, but without being too raucous. The kids staying with our party had a fab time!

Totally recommend the farm shop around the corner - the best burgers ever and apparently the pies are great too! The pub, (can't remember the name - ask the farmer) is really nice and worth a visit - the menu is very good, I had the Jacobs Ladder - delicious!

I have a feeling this will not be our last visit to Hidden Spring.

What a super chilled relaxing site, great owners, super location with an Orchard and Vineyard on site - great.

Quiet location and very kid friendly, open plan camping - pitch anywhere on site, very clean loos and showers - with plenty of hot water.

Nice to be able to have open fires, you can buy logs on site. Good atmosphere amongst the fellow campers.

Kids had plenty to do, as they made friends really easily, this was great for us as we didn't have to look over our shoulders every 5 minutes

Once tent was up, you parked your car by the fence - which was great for safety.

The Organic Wine and Organic Cider produced on site was of a very high standard and ticked all the boxes. Also you could use their fridge and freezer.

Only niggle was that the water from the taps could be too hot at times (owner advised and matter in hand) Also the campers need to be made aware and more action taken to sort out the recycling problem.

Would definitely recommend this site and look forward to returning

Lovely site, two camping/caravan fields, one with electric, the other without. Clean shower/toilet block (a fair walk from camping/caravanning fields - I'm glad we had a toilet with us for night-time wee's), but the walk did not bother us during the day. Various fire pit areas.
Lovely approach up a bumpy track. A truly amazing place. We will probably return as quite close to home, but seemed a thousand miles away!
The only negative I would have about the campsite was that I asked how much a pup tent would cost on our pitch and I was told that it would be charged at a full pitch rate :o( We decided to use the awning annex instead to avoid this.

Lovely campsite - plenty of room in tent field.

Small play area for children to help keep them amused along with some farm animals in the surrounding field for them to look at.

Toilet and shower areas are kept really clean and fully stocked with toilet roll + hand wash, they are a short walk away from the tent field.

Loved the fact that your allowed a campfire (using the rings provided) - the campsite sells bags of wood at a very good price.

There are lots of things to do locally and a short drive away (many National Trust and English Heritage places to visit). The campsite provides lots of leaflets of local attractions in the shop area.

I and 2 children had an enjoyable few days away.

This site is very good value, we paid £26 for 4 of us, 2 nights with electric hookup.

The shower and toilets were very clean and looked new, there is a bit of a walk to them but you soon get used to it.

The owners were very welcoming, they have a small shop selling local meat and their own apple juice, cider and wine, Horam and Heathfield nearby both have plenty of take aways and shops.

The pitch was lovely, set by the vines and orchards with lovely views and plenty of space, no noise at night although the filed with tents in was quite noisy in the day, lots of kids. Theres a small play area.

Myself and my partner visited Hidden Spring Vineyard camping site this summer (2009). As my first ever camping trip I have to give it full marks! I was very impressed and had a wonderful time here, so much so that I can't wait to go camping again.

The owners are friendly and helpful, with a well laid out site. It encompasses a farm, vineyard, tent camping field, caravan camping field and owners home. However everything is well signposted and easy to navigate.

The facilities consisted of toilets, showers, and washing-up sink which were all contained within a small wooden clad hut. They were basic but new, clean and well kept. They even had pictures up in the toilets and flowers around the hut which certainly added a nice homely touch!

There is a small parade of shops in the local village of Horam but just essentials - corner shop / chemist / pub / etc. However a short drive south of 25-30 minutes will take you to Eastbourne where there is a big Sainsburys and 24hour Asda superstore. And of course a lovely beach!

I think this site would be ideal for couples or families with well behaved children. As it is a small family run site with a naturally laid-back peaceful atmosphere and beautiful surroundings. If that's what you are looking for then I would definitely recommend it and we certainly plan to go back next year.

'Hidden' is the operative word. This is a gem of a site tucked away from the real world. Gently sloping field for vans & m/homes, immaculately maintained with absolutely huge pitches.
Non leccie field on the other side of the lane for tents where camp fires are allowed. The only criticism would be the distance to the facilities block. We use our own on board, but found the trek to the Elsan tip very difficult.
Wonderful welcome from the owners, very pleasant couple. There is no children's playground but they will love the animals. There is a selection of products of the vineyard on sale at reception, for general shopping, a number of shops in the village or a little further afield, supermarkets in Heathfield or Hailsham.
A very pleasant weekend though the trip to the block puts me off going again as have difficulty in walking more than a few yards.

What can I say about this site. Well to be honest I don't want to tell everyone as I would love to keep it to myself. This place is heaven on earth if you like camp fires and facilities.

We arrived to a warm welcome from the owner. Nice people! There are two fields, one with hook up which I think is mainly for Tourers and camper vans and the other for tents. The tent field also has yurts for rent. This is also the field for the camp fires. Loo's etc are nice and clean and well kept. All in all very nice. The little shop sells own brewed wine and cider. 200 yrds down the road is a farm shop selling fresh meats and about 20 minutes walk is a nice little village. There are some nice walks and all in all a great place to chill. I just wish it was nearer to home otherwise I would be there every weekend. Ideal for a group who want to chill round the camp fire but at the same time relax and not be too noisy! Lovely lovely lovely.

We arrived at this site BH Monday afternoon, my parents arrived earlier in the day , with their caravan. We had pre-booked and as there was no room in the camping field were allowed to pitch next to my parent's.

We were in the far corner of the field & it was quite a hike to the toilet block, but this was only a problem when it came to emptying the BWL.

Whilst there we had some fabulous walks around the farm, you really feel you are miles from anywhere. We also walked about a mile along the Cuckoo Trail. We visited Beachy Head , but as it was very wet & windy, thought it would be best not to get out of the car.

My girl's loved all the animals & were off on rambles a lot of the time.

The only downside that I can think of was that there was no soap in the toilets, and they were a bit grubby, but I guess given the weather, that was to be expected.

We all had a lovely few days away & can not wait to return again.

Although only opened last year, this is a popular site. We tried to book for another weekend in the next few weeks, but the site is booked every weekend until September!

The site is a good sized field but they will only take 10 tents maximum. I like the fact you can choose when you pitch, there's no regimented lines of tents here. The field has a slight slope, but this kept it well drained even after a day of constant rain.

You can help yourself to fire pits, and my boys loved playing in the adjacent woods. There are orchards surrounding the field, and it's very quiet, no noise except for a few groups talking around their camp fires.

We loved the organic apple juice and cider on sale in reception, and the owner was very relaxed and friendly.

The downside is the trek down the track to the facilities. There is only one outside sink for washing up, and it wasn't sheltered from the rain. The toilets looked new, but slightly grubby with an overflowing bin. I liked the shower rooms, new and with plenty of space to change.

We enjoyed our stay at Hidden Spring and would definitely go back.
