Another lovely relaxing weekend at HIdden Spring. A great quiet little site, friendly owner, big pitches, and camp fires allowed.
If you like pristine manicured sites with marked pitches and lots of rules this is not the site for you.
Only negatives are the lack of toilets (only one sit down for gents) and the play area if you can call it that is poor, but kids tend to make their own fun in the surrounding countryside.
Recommended for a quiet relaxing break.

I thought this was a lovely campsite. We were in the Oak Tree field rather than the Apple Orchard and had a wonderful position at the top of the hill with views across the valley which was really wonderful. We were three families with pitches beside each other and the individual pitches were enormous. The couple who own the farm and campsite were very 'unprecious' about how you pitch your tent and the pitches are marked with really useful benches. (They said that these are occasionally stolen however!) The only downside to our fantastic pitch was (as mentioned by others) the fact that we had a long way to walk to the washing up area and loos (probably just means more people than usual wee in the bushes I expect judging by the noises in the night!) but we had a child with a bit of a dicky tum one night which meant a few hikes down there and back in the dark - bring a headtorch or torch! We had great weather overall and made use of the honesty box to pay for firewood for the firepits and ice-creams, and the freezer to freeze our ice-blocks. The children spent a lot of time in the next door field on the rope swings and really enjoyed themselves. Everything was very clean and in good functioning order I believe. We only stayed three days but thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The only drawback I could see is if you booked when the campsite was busy - there are only two showers. That just about worked when we were there because it wasn't too busy but even so we queued. Otherwise it is a really lovely place.

What a lovely campsite in a beautiful setting. The pitches are very spacious, apparently the site was full but it didn't seem like it was.
We were in a group of friends with our children ranging from 5-12 yrs. They all enjoyed the rope swings & the freedom of exploring the surroundings.
Ok, the toilets and showers were a bit of a walk, and they could probably benefit from a couple more but they were always very clean & with plenty of hot water, toilet roll & soap.
The visiting Pizza van was a great success on the Friday evening, and we had a lovely time eating in the meadow, enjoying the evening sun. Pizzas were delicious!
The fire pits are a real must- once the sun went down there was nothing nicer than enjoying a drink & toasting marshmallows around the fire.
All in all a great site & we'd be happy to return.

Well more superlatives from us.
Hidden Spring was chosen as the first-time test of our Casita folding caravan. Delight all round.
The warm welcome, spacious pitches. The facilities are modern and kept clean, and the setting, on a working farm, was more than ample.
Three days of beautiful weather, and in such a beautiful rural setting. Sitting in the shade of the orchard, or cooking local burgers over a camp fire, or enjoying those eggs for breakfast.
If you want a quiet, tranquil camp with room the breathe then I cannot recommend Hidden Spring enough. We'll definitely be returning.

Well I've been trying to think of a negative but I can't.
A lovely site, clean toilet and shower facilities, spacious pitches and generally well maintained.
As has been mentioned it's a bit of a trek to the toilets of a night so a decent torch is needed.
Gorgeous eggs for sale and the honey is the best I've ever tasted and I've tasted honeys from all over.
We also bought the burgers from the site, they were nice as well.
We had the pizza on the Friday night, they were really nice.
Definitely returning, when I run out of honey.

Absolutely the best campsite we ever have visited. And it's less than 10 minutes from our home. How did it take us 7 years from moving to East Sussex to get around to staying here? We did mange two stays during the Summer and will be back this Summer for more.
If you want peace and tranquility and a site with fantastic owners then this is the place for you.
You will not find a better campsite anywhere. End of.
P. S. My advice would be to ensure you coincide your visit with when The Pizza Laundry is on site. The BEST woodfired pizzas you'll ever taste.

An excellent campsite in a very pretty location between a vineyard and a large orchard. As other reviewers have mentioned, the space available is very impressive - it would be impossible to feel hemmed in. Hot, clean showers very welcome; drinking water close at hand. We thoroughly enjoyed cooking on an open fire and, given the distance between pitches, not having to worry that our smoke was bothering anyone.

We enjoyed a wonderful week's camping at Hidden Spring in July 2013. After camping for over 40 years this is, without doubt, the best site we have ever camped at in this country! The pitches are huge, so that even when the site was full at the weekend it remained quiet and peaceful. The location on a smallholding with apple orchards, vines and Jacob sheep makes this a real rural retreat. It is not a site that will appeal to party goers or large groups but it is perfect for families and couples looking to get away from it all. The facilities are modern and well cared for, and the owners are extremely helpful and welcoming. We spent the week exploring the wealth of National Trust properties nearby and looking for butterflies on the South Downs, but it is a perfect location for gentle walking and cycling and the coast is very accessible. I cannot recommend this site too highly.

We have just spent a really enjoyable 3 nights at hidden springs camp site. The site has every thing we wish for whilst camping. Tranquil setting, beautiful scenery and plenty of space between each tent plus the amenities are very good and very clean.
The owners always try & accommodate any wishes ie we wished to arrive on a Sunday which is actually their family day but they made an exception for us.
This care is also reflected in the fact that it is a family run site with the owness being on peace & quiet.
We will definitely be returning & recommending it to family& friends.

Absolutely lovely campsite. Not far to Brighton or Eadtbourne. Very traditional quiet in the week but got noisy at the weekend with large family groups. Wouldn't think the campsite was suitable for young teenagers as not much to do but great for younger children.
The pub in the village of Horam not up to much but the one you get to access fields was lovely.
Only downside to the campsite is that the toilets are a fair walk if you relied on them in the middle of the night.
